Abstract

Gouramy (Osphronemus gouramy) is a freshwater fishery commodity with a large enough demand and a fairly expensive price compared to other freshwater fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature on larval quality and growth of gouramy fry. The research method used is an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of two treatments of water media temperature, namely 1) Treatment A = The temperature of the media follows room temperature (control treatment), and 2) Treatment B = The temperature of the medium was set constant at a temperature of 30ᵒC. Each treatment was repeated six times to obtain 12 experimental units. Research parameter data were analyzed statistically using variance (ANOVA) at a 95% confidence level using the t-test. The results showed that the degree of hatching of gouramy eggs, larval size, absolute growth, relative growth, daily specific growth rate and survival rate of gouramy larvae at room temperature and 30°C were 90.38% and 98, respectively. 76%; 0.54 cm and 0.66 cm; 0.86 cm and 0.87 cm; 157.52% and 133.26%; 3.99% and 3.58%; and 74.78% and 91.22%. The study concluded that eggs incubated at room temperature (25-28°C) and 30°C gave significantly different effects on hatching rates and post-hatching larvae size. Larval rearing at room temperature and 30°C gave no significant effect on absolute growth but significantly different on relative growth, daily specific growth rate and survival rate

Abstract

Caulerpa sp. is a green alga that grows naturally in Indonesian waters. Caulerpa sp. grows in shallow seas with calm currents and attaches to coral substrates or sand substrates and rock fragments. In Indonesia, this alga is widely used as a food ingredient. Caulerpa sp.  Contains lignan which is beneficial to human health, namely its ability to prevent the growth of cancer cells. This study aims to determine the difference in the number of carotenoids in Caulerpa sp. with different light intensities using controlled containers at the Laboratory of Fish Production and Reproduction, University of Mataram. The method used was experimental with a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 30 days of maintenance. The results showed the growth of Caulerpa sp. highest in treatment D (3 light 3000 lux) with an average absolute growth of 80 g, specific growth of 0,92 %, stolon length of 6,4 cm, and the highest carotenoid content. The lowest growth value was in treatment A (1 light 500 lux) with an absolute growth value of 35 cm, specific growth of 0,44%, stolon length of 4,6 cm, formula length 2,6 carotenoid content of 0.15 mg/g

Abstract

Comet fish (Carassius auratus) is a type of freshwater ornamental fish with a high selling value due to its unique body shape and bright colour. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of different LED (Light Emitting Diode) light colours on colour brightness, growth, and survival of comet fish. This study applies an experimental approach with an experimental design in the form of a completely randomized design (CRD) and consists of 5 light treatments and 3 replications, namely A (room light), B (white LED), C (blue LED), D (green LED), and E (red LED). The results showed that LED light treatment had a significant effect on the colour quality and feed efficiency, but did not significantly affect the growth and survival of comet fish. The best colour quality was found in treatment E (red LED) with an increase in the TCF (Toca Color Finder) score of 6.22 and colour performance on the back by 80.80%, pectoral fin colour by 64.91%, and tail fin by 71 .18%. The best feed efficiency was obtained in treatment C (blue LED) with a feed efficiency value of 57.48%. The behavioural responses of comet fish did not make any difference between each LED treatment. The water quality of the comet fish rearing media has a temperature value ranging from 25.70 – 29.20 C. The pH value ranges from 7.29 to 8.50. Meanwhile, dissolved oxygen ranges from 8.00 – 12.20 mg/L
