Abstract

Narcissistic personality is a personality disorder that is often experienced by groups of teenagers in this modern technological era. This era causes various significant changes in aspects of life. Adolescents must have positive coping to adapt to significant changes in the environment, human resources and technological resources. Adolescents who cope negatively with these changes are at risk of developing narcissistic disorders. Adolescents with untreated narcissistic disorder may develop a narcissistic personality as a result of the condition's effects on their personality. The purpose of this review was to identify the factors affecting adolescents coping with narcissistic personalities. This review employed a literature review, with references sourced from articles/journals published between 2012 and 2022. Electronic databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, Wiley Online Library, and SpringerLink were used to conduct article searches. Several related research publications were obtained throughout the article search, including 1 from the Wiley Online Library, 47 from PubMed, 1 from CINAHL, and 419 from SpringerLink. From all of those articles, only five articles can be continued to analyze. All of five articles were review with inclusion and exclusion criteria to find factors influencing adolescents coping with a narcissistic personality. The findings of the synthesis of various articles show that both internal and external coping sources have an impact on adolescents' individual coping with a narcissistic personality. Internal factors consist of physical health, belief systems including beliefs or religion, commitments or life principles, feelings or emotional self, and social skills. Meanwhile, external factors include social support and material resources (economic conditions, home environmental conditions, and social relationship conditions).

Abstract

Background: Nutrition is essential for school children's growth, development, energy, cognitive function, and immune system. High-quality nutrition optimizes brain growth and development. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between nutritional status and academic achievement among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Tegalrejo 1, Yogyakarta. Method: This quantitative, correlational study was conducted from March to July 2023 at Jalan Bener No. 40, Tegalrejo, Yogyakarta. Nutritional status and academic performance were assessed using anthropometric measurements (BMI-for-age Z-scores) and final report card grades. The study included 56 students, with 53 ultimately participating due to exclusion criteria (absence during data collection). Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with Spearman's correlation test. Result: The results showed no significant relationship between nutritional status and academic achievement (P-value = 0.642, P > 0.05). Conclusions: Factors such as dietary habits, physical activity, motivation, talent, interest, and learning willingness, along with external factors like school environment, family, and socio-economic status, may contribute more significantly. Schools should monitor students' nutritional status through regular height and weight measurements and collaborate with local health facilities. This study focused solely on cognitive aspects of academic achievement, suggesting future research should include a more comprehensive assessment of student performance.

Abstract

Aging in the elderly is often accompanied by various health problems, one of which is cataracts. Cataract surgery is an effective solution but often causes anxiety in patients, which can affect their blood pressure before surgery. This study aims to determine the relationship between the anxiety level of the elderly and pre-operative blood pressure in cataract one day care. This research uses a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational design and a cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 40 respondents selected using consecutive sampling techniques. Data were collected using the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) questionnaire and blood pressure measurements with a sphygmomanometer. The analysis results showed a significant and positive relationship between anxiety levels and pre-operative blood pressure in cataract one day care with a p-value of 0.000 and a correlation strength (r) of 0.955. High anxiety levels in elderly patients undergoing cataract surgery are associated with increased pre-operative blood pressure. It is crucial for the health professionals to manage patients' anxiety through psychological interventions and education before surgery to reduce the risk of elevated blood pressure that can affect surgical safety.
