Prevention of Postpartum Urinary Retention with Peppermint Oil Vapor Dewi Aryanti; Yudi Triguna

Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction. Urinary retention in the postpartum period (PPUR) is one of the health problems commonly handled using catheterization and antibiotic prophylaxis. Objective. This study aimed to look at the influence of peppermint oil on PPUR prevention. Methods. This quasi-experimental study with a control group design included 60 postpartum subjects (29 in the control group and 31 in the intervention group) with vaginal delivery (ages 17-50 years). The intervention group obtained treatment by giving 2 mL of peppermint oil, while the controlled group used mineral water in the closet before subjects sat on it for 5-10 minutes and voided. The bladder condition was further checked subjectively and manually by palpation before and after the exposure to peppermint oil (distention or no distention). Result. The relationships between variables were analyzed using the Fisher Exact statistical test, obtaining no significant effect of peppermint oil administration variables on PPUR prevention (p = 0.495, CI 95%). Discussion. PPUR is related to oxidative stress, tissue inflammation, and nerve impulse blocks. Peppermint oil is estimated to be one of the modalities in preventing health problems through antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antispasmodic effects. Further research is needed to validate the effect of peppermint oil on PPUR prevention. In addition, support of screening information on the condition of the bladder objectively using a bladder scanner is also needed to measure the post-void residual volume (PVRV). Conclusion. This study showed that peppermint oil on PPUR prevention has no significant effect and may require further investigation. ABSTRACTPendahuluan: Retensi urin pada masa nifas (PPUR) merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan yang sering ditangani dengan menggunakan kateterisasi dan antibiotik profilaksis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh minyak peppermint terhadap pencegahan PPUR. Metode: Penelitian quasi eksperimental study dengan control group ini melibatkan 60 subjek postpartum (29 pada kelompok kontrol dan 31 pada kelompok intervensi) dengan persalinan pervaginam (usia 17-50 tahun). Kelompok intervensi dilakukan dengan meneteskansebanyak 2 mL minyak peppermint pada closet (sementara kelompok kontrol menggunakan air mineral) sebelum subjek duduk di closet selama 5-10 menit dan berkemih. Kondisi kandung kemih subjektif diperiksa secara manual dengan metode palpasi sebelum dan sesudah terpapar minyak peppermint (distensi atau tidak ada distensi). Hasil. Hubungan antar variabel dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik Fisher Exact dengan hasil tidak ada pengaruh signifikan pemberian minyak peppermint terhadap pencegahan PPUR (p = 0,495, CI 95%). Diskusi. PPUR berhubungan dengan stres oksidatif, inflamasi jaringan dan blok impuls saraf. Minyak peppermint diperkirakan menjadi salah satu modalitas dalam pencegahan melalui efek antioksidan, antiinflamasi dan antispasmodik. Penelitian selanjutnya perlu dilakukan untuk memvalidasi efek minyak peppermint pada pencegahan PPUR melalui informasi kondisi kandung kemih secara objektif menggunakan bladder scanner untuk mengukur volume residu pasca berkemih (PVRV). Kesimpulan. Studi ini menunjukkan minyak peppermint pada pencegahan PPUR belum menunjukkan efek yang signifikan dan perlu penelitian lebih lanjut.

Abstract

Expressed breastmilk (ASIP) is one attempt to successfully support exclusive breastfeeding. Exclusive breastfeeding remains an important activity, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is beneficial for the baby's endurance, mother's health and happiness. The purpose of this public service activities was provided refreshment to the health worker in the village dusun Cikoneng Awisari Cikoneng Ciamis of the ASIP management. The methods used are workshops and counseling. Infrastructure required was counseling room (Rumah Dataku dusun Cikoneng), phantom breast pocket books, videos milking the milk manually and using the pump, infokus, and speaker stuffs. The results of activities was increasing the knowledge of health workers in ASIP management during the COVID-19 pandemic. Outputs from this activity is the publication of the results of community service and booklets ASIP

Abstract

The risk factors of adolescent obesity are caused by macronutrient intake, diet and eating habits, physical activity, genetics, knowledge, attitudes, and psychological. This study aimed to determine obesity risk factors for students of Poltekkes Kemenkes Tasikmalaya. This descriptive research studied on 100 students. Obesity is determined by BMI, while body fat composition is determined by the bioimpedance analysis method. Intake and diet were measured through interviews, using a 24-hour recall form, an FFQ questionnaire, and a PGS instrument. Physical activity was measured using the IPAQ form. Knowledge and attitudes are determined by interviews, using knowledge and attitudes instruments. The data were analyzed descriptively. Food intake data were processed using Nutrisurvey 2007 for Windows. BMI showed 64% belong to the obesity 1. The average of body weight was 73.96 Kg ± 11.89. The incidence of obesity occurs a lot during adolescence and college (70%), 48% have obese parents, and 42% have obese siblings. The average body fat was 32.84% ± 5.59 and the average visceral fat was 9.57 ± 4.72. Fat and carbohydrate intake and energy were 100% less than DV, while protein intake was 85% less than DV. The diet of carbohydrate and vegetable sources was less than normal, while protein and fruit sources tend to be normal. Physical activity was low with 46%. The average knowledge score was 75.1% ± 12.98, and the average attitude score was 78.2% ± 14.17. Keywords: Physical Activity; Intake; Obesity; Knowledge; Diet

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Pisang merupakan bahan pangan yang mudah ditemukan terutama di Indonesia. Pisang ambon merupakan salah satu jenis pisang yang biasa dijadikan bahan baku oleh para pengusaha makanan seperti pedagang pisang goreng dan molen. Proses akhir dari pengolahan buah pisang menghasilkan limbah kulit pisang dengan volume yang besar namun hal ini tidak diimbangi dengan pemanfaatan limbah kulit pisang dengan baik. Jumlah kulit pisang yang cukup banyak akan memiliki nilai jual yang menguntungkan apabila bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan baku makanan. Kulit pisang mengandung zat gizi yang cukup tinggi terutama vitamin dan mineral seperti air, serat, karbohidrat, protein, lemak, kalsium, Fosfor, besi, vitamin B, dan vitamin C. Selain itu, ekstrak kulit pisang juga mengandung zat-zat yang berpotensi sebagai phytoestrogen. Tujuan: menganalisis uji organoleptik kerupuk kulit pisang ambon yaitu rasa, aroma, tekstur, dan warna. Metode: penelitian eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap. Perlakuan adalah pembuatan kerupuk dari kulit pisang ambon dengan penambahan tepung mocaf. Hasil: Hasil uji sensoris menggunakan skala kesukaan menunjukkan bahwa kerupuk kulit pisang yang paling disukai panelis yaitu kerupuk kulit pisang dengan penambahan 75gram kulit pisang dan 100gram tepung moccaf, menghasilkan warna yang lebih cerah, rasa yang lebih enak dan gurih, aroma khas kerupuk, serta tekstur yang renyah sehingga lebih disukai oleh panelis. Kesimpulan: Secara keseluruhan sampel yang memiliki tingkat kesukaan paling banyak dari semua atribut ialah formula-2 dengan penambahan 75gram kulit pisang dan 100gram tepung mocaf.
