Abstract

Patients with cancer experience emotional distress which characterized by psychological symptoms such as anxiety or depression, psychological symptoms that arise and complex cancer processes have negative impact on their quality of life. Many cancer patients use a wide variety of techniques to improve their psychological symptoms and quality of life including relaxation therapy and specifically, Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR). The systematic review purpose was to review the evidence regarding the use of PMR intervention for cancer patients. Thirty four published studies and nine identified original article as potentially relevant , undertaken in the past six years until now (2013 to 2019) with data bases in Scopus, Proquest, Google Scholar, Oxford, and Science direct Searches. The information flow chart from record identification to study inclusion was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA and extracted data with PICOT. The impact of progressive muscle relaxation interventions remained in effect for between seven days and six month after the interventions.. Progressive muscle relaxation intervention is the technique including continous and systematic stretching and relaxing of the muscles until the whole body becomes relaxed. It has effects in improving depression, stress, anxiety and quality of life via physical relaxation.

Abstract

Introduction : The Covid-19 pandemic is a big challenge in the world of health, including nursing. Nurses are the main stronghold in patient care because nurses meet patients more frequently and longer than other medical personnel. The use of PPE is urgently needed in treating patients with Covid-19, the impact of using PPE cannot be avoided and can affect nurses, feelings of discomfort and poor physical condition can result in a decrease in both physical and psychological health. Purpose: This article review aims to determine the impact of using PPE on nurses' physical and psychological health during a pandemic. Method: This article was reviewed by identifying articles in the last 5 years with the theme of the effect of the use of PPE on the physiology and psychology of nurses during a pandemic with the original article inclusion criteria. Results: This article review collects articles from Google Scholar and ScienceDirect keywords used PPE, covid19, nurse, physical aspect, and biological aspect. The results of the identification resulted in 15 articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Conclusion: PPE has an impact on the physical aspects, namely respiratory disorders and fatigue. Influences on the psychological aspects are stress, depression, and anxiety. Nurses must have physical and mental health preparations to face various challenges in patient care processes and procedures during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

Abstract Advances in technology and information affect education sector, one of them is the shift in learning methods that were initially fully face-to-face to digitalization in the form of virtual simulations. The use of virtual simulation still leaves a number of challenges, one of them is the problem of replacing face-to-face learning to virtual simulation completely. This study aims to examine virtual simulations as a learning media in improving nursing students' clinical competency. This study was a literature design review that refers to the Preferred Reported Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis guidelines (PRISMA). A total of 451 articles were obtained from Scopus (44), Google Scholar (334), and PubMed (73). The 11 selected articles were analyzed and trevealed that the combination of virtual simulations with traditional learning improved nursing students' clinical competency. Learning through virtual simulations provided an interesting experience through audio-visual that resembles real conditions so it increased the brain's ability to think at a higher level and prepare students to deal with real patients. When students were ready, traditional learning provides real-life experiences in clinical practice. Because students have previously been provided with cognitive and psychomotor competency through virtual simulations, traditional learning strengthen nursing students' clinical competency. So these two learning methods are a neat combination. But so far it seems that virtual simulation has not been able to completely replace traditional learning. Cross-sectoral coordination is needed to improve the quality of virtual simulation learning so that it is expected to improve nursing students’ clinical competency.
