Abstract

Abelmoschus manihot L. has been used traditionally as folks medicine plant and it containflavonoid and steroid that has health benefit. The objectives of this research were todetermine anti obesity and hypolipidemic activity of flavonoid and steroid extract fromAbelmoschus manihot L. on white male Wistar induced with high content of protein and lipidfood. Anti obesity test were evaluated by the decreasing of rats weight, whereashypolipidemic test were evaluated by the decreasing of total cholesterol levelsphotometrically using Liebermann-Burchard method. The rats were divided into four groups, namely the negative control (distilled water), extract treatment groups (flavonoids andsteroids), and a positive control group (simvastatin). The percentations of Weight reducingand cholesterol level were analyzed by ANOVA, if there were significant in groups, itcontinued with Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that treatment group possesanti obesity activity, whereas flavonoid extract decrease 7.85% body weight of rats andsteroids extract were 13.70% of body weight. Flavonoids showed hypolipidemic effects bydecrease rats cholesterol levels by 86.45% and steroid extract decrease cholesterol levels by72.53%.Keywords : Abelmoschus manihot L., flavonoid extract, steroid extract, anti obesity, hypolipidemic

Abstract

ABSTRACTRhodamine B dye in the form of a crystalline powder green or reddish purple, odorless, anddissolves easily in bright red solution berfluoresan as textile dyes. Rhodamine B is still nofood products were found to contain rhodamine B dye such as crackers, sauces, ice and otherpastries. The purpose of this study is to investigate and determine the levels of rhodamine Bon crackers circulating in the city of Manado. Sampling sites crackers are 4 market in the cityof Manado is Tuminting Market, Market Paal 2, Market Market Bersehati 45 and 45.Samples with ammonia to soak interesting rhodamine B dye using wool yarn, followed byidentification using thin layer chromatography (TLC) and then in detection with UV light 254nm and 366 nm. The reading levels of rhodamine B using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. Theresults showed that of the ten samples tested with three times obtained one positive samplecontaining rhodamine B with an average concentration value of rhodamine B in a sample of45 markets in the sword of 0.28 mg/ml. Based on these results, some crackers circulating inManado City Market unsafe consumed. Keywords: Rhodamine B, Crackers, spectrophotometry and Thin Layer Chromatography

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aims to determine the phytochemical compounds and testing the analgesiceffects of ethanol extract of kucing-kucingan plant (Acalypha indica Linn.). Phytochemicaltesting conducted according to Harbone methods and analgesic activity of rats reaction timeis determined based on the thermal response after giving the ethanol extract of A indica L.This study used 20 female Wistar rats were divided into a treatment group was given 0,035mg / kg extract of leaves, stems and roots, negative control receive aquadest and positivecontrol using aspirin. Reaction time data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA followed byDuncan's test multipe Range Test. The results showed that the ethanol extract of A.indica L.contains alkaloids and saponins in the extract while the third type of flavonoid and tanninfound only in leaf extracts. Testing the analgesic activity of ethanol extract A. indica L.showed that the leaf extract gave the highest reaction time of 3.16 seconds, and stem and rootextracts followed by 1.72 seconds and 2.85 seconds. Reaction time in rats given leaf extractA.indica L. did not give significantly different with aspirin group (P> 0:05).Keywords : Phytochemical testing, analgesic, ethanol extract of kucing-kucingan (A.indicaL.).ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui senyawa fitokimia dan menguji efek analgetik

Abstract

ABSTRACTAcrylamide is caused by a high temperature (more than 1200C) in the food that contains highcarbohydrate. Acrylamide was classified as senyawa that caused cancer or have highpotention as carcinogenic compound in the human body. Junk food which mostly eaten bypeople is fries. The aims of this research were to identify how much acrylamide was containsin sweet potato fries that has been sell at Manado City using High Performance LiquidChromatography (HPLC) method. The samples that has been identified is came from 7 storein 7 sub district at Manado City. In this research, the acrylamide were analysed with HighPerformance Liquid Chromatography using Shim-Pack VP-ODS (4,6 x 250 mm) column, comparison of mobile phase acetonitrile and phosphate acid 11,45 mM (20 : 80), flow rate 1ml/minute and at wave length 210 nm. The result shows acrylamide found in sweet potatofries with retention time ±3,311 minutes. Acrylamide that contains in sweet potato frieswhich has been sell in Manado City were 118,54-866,75 μg/kg. Acrylamide level that foundin sweet potato fries is still under lethal dose. Keywords : Acrylamide, sweet potato fries, HPLC, Manado

Abstract

Acrylamide can be formed as a consequence of heating athigh temperature (more than1200C) in food contains high of carbohydrate. Acrylamide was classified as carcinogeniccompound to human being. Junk food which mostly eaten by people is fries. The objectiveof this research is to identify acrylamide in banana fries marketed in Manado city usingHigh Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Samples were taken from 12 places,by 6 sub district Manado City. Acrylamide were analyzed by HPLC using Shim-Pack VPODS(4,6 x 250 nm) column, comparison of mobile phase acetonitrile and phospate acid11,45 mM (5:95), flow rate 1 ml/minuteand at wave lenght 210 nm. The result shows thatAcrylamide contains in banana fries with retention time ±4,284 minutes. Acrylamidecontained in banana fries which marketed in Manado City were 39,65 – 1789,52 μg/kg.Acrylamide level in banana fries is at under lethal dose (LD50)Keywords : Acrylamide, banana fries, HPLC, Manado
