Abstract

This study documents a community service initiative targeting rural micro-entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia, aiming to enhance economic development through financial literacy and digital skills training. A total of 500 micro-entrepreneurs were recruited, with 250 assigned to treatment and 250 to control. Data collection included baseline and endline surveys, complemented by qualitative interviews. Econometric analyses include difference-in-differences (DiD), fixed-effects panel regressions, and instrumental variables (IV/GMM) to account for selection bias and compliance issues. Results indicate 28% increase in revenue, 22% in profit, 35% increase in formal savings, and 40% increase in digital sales among participants. The program shows heterogeneous effects favoring women, younger entrepreneurs, and those with secondary education. Policy implications suggest scaling through local cooperatives, digital marketplace integration, and collaboration with financial institutions. This study provides a rigorous framework for community service interventions in economic development, combining quantitative and qualitative methods.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of gender equality and community participation on affirmative economic development in the tourism village of Hariara Pohan, with tourism village sustainability functioning as a mediating variable. The objective is to understand how social empowerment and cultural governance contribute to equitable and long-term economic benefits in community-based tourism. The research used a quantitative survey method and involved 165 respondents who were actively engaged in tourism and local creative economy activities. A structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale was administered, and data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess both direct and indirect causal relationships among the studied variables. The results indicate that gender equality and community participation significantly enhance tourism village sustainability, particularly through strengthened decision-making roles, cultural heritage protection, and collective responsibility. Both variables also directly influence affirmative economic development by improving micro-enterprise growth, access to capital, and fair distribution of tourism income across households. Furthermore, tourism village sustainability mediates these relationships, demonstrating that social empowerment leads to stable economic outcomes when supported by cultural preservation and environmental stewardship. In conclusion, the study underscores that sustainable and inclusive tourism development requires not only economic planning, but also equitable participation, gender-balanced leadership, and strong cultural identity. These elements are essential for building resilient rural tourism economies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the fiscal and monetary policies implemented by the Indonesian government to address the impact of regional expansion on macroeconomic stability. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis with a qualitative approach. The data used is secondary data in the form of fiscal and monetary policy documents issued by the government and Bank Indonesia. The results of the study show that the Indonesian government has implemented various fiscal and monetary policies to overcome the impact of regional expansion on macroeconomic stability, such as increasing government spending in new regions, setting interest rate policies, and controlling inflation. However, there are still a number of challenges in overcoming the impact of regional expansion, such as differences in economic conditions in new regions and a lack of adequate human resources. The effects of fiscal and monetary policies on inflation and economic growth are also analyzed in this study. The results of the analysis show that fiscal and monetary policies have a significant effect on inflation, but have not been proven to be consistent in increasing economic growth. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the fiscal and monetary policies implemented by the Indonesian government to overcome the impact of regional expansion have made a positive contribution to macroeconomic stability. However, proper policy evaluation and adjustments are still needed to overcome the challenges that are still being faced.
