Abstract

Abstract

Abstract: The undergrowth can be used to describe soil conditions that can be seen clearly in the field, because it can increase soil stability, soil fertility and increase land productivity. The purpose of this study was to determine diversity of undergrowth vegetation in teak stands (Tectona grandis Linn.) and environmental factors related to the diversity of undergrowth on teak stands at Ciporos RPH, BKPH Sidareja, KPH Banyumas Barat, Central Java. The research method used was a survey method by sampling using line transects. Data on vegetation diversity of undergrowth were analyzed using Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H ') while the vegetation evenness data was analyzed using Evenness Index (E'). To determine the relationship between environmental factors and undergrowth use Paleontological Statistics (PAST) software analysis. The results showed that the lower ground species found in the Ciporos RPH consisted of 8 species from 7 families. The undergrowth species that has the highest Importance Value Index (INP) is Paspalidium flavidum (Paspalum grass) of the Gramineae family (Poaceae) with 69.21% INP and the lowest is Arum maculatum (Arum flower) of the Araceae family with an INP of 1.38 %. The diversity of undergrowth vegetation in teak stands in RPH Ciporos has a Diversity Index (H ') including moderate and the pattern of distribution of undergrowth species is classified as low. The most environmental factor related to the diversity of u undergrowth vegetation is soil pH.

Abstract

Indonesia has 1.794 species of birds with 527 of them are endemic in Indonesia. Birds have ecological benefits such as 1) pollinators, 2) pest controller, 3) supports the ecosystem. Eggs, flesh, feathers even nests have economical values that can be used as food, clothes or accessories. The species of bird has a trend of decreasing. Studies of bird species in there habitat need to be done periodly to prevent the trend to continue. The goal of this study is to identify the species of birds near Sokokembang. Observation methode with the point count technique is used in this study in July and December 2022. About 15 species of birds are found with in there are N. bartelsi and H. cyanoventris are found as endemic species. The finding of this study reveal that they are 6% of the findings found in preveous studies with 9 similar species and 6 different species. Ajusting by the conservation status in IUCN and Data Burung Indonesia, 1 species is categorized as Endangred and 14 species are categorized Least Concerned. Information of the species of birds need to be periodly evaluated so the proper act of conservation can be used to maintain the abundance of species of birds in Petungkriyono.

Abstract

Pacific Seabream, Acanthopagrus pacificus, is a popular marine fish from the Sparidae family. This species is an economically essential fisheries commodity in the south-coast Java, Indonesia. However, limited studies are available on A. pacificus in Indonesia. Only two studies reported the presence of A. pacificus in South-Coast Java. No study has been carried out on the biology of A. pacificus from south-coast Java. Therefore, biological studies of A. pacificus are needed, including genetic diversity studies. This study aimed to evaluate the genetic diversity of A. pacificus in South-Coast Java using the cytochrome c oxidase gene. Fish samples were bought from Bantul Fishing Harbor, Yogyakarta, Panganadaran Fishing Port, Bojongsalawe Fish Auction Center, West Java, and Binuangeun Fishing Harbor in Lebak Regency, Banten. The genetic marker was processed in PT. Genetika Science Indonesia follows the company procedure. Haplotype and nucleotide diversity were calculated mathematically using Arlequin software. The result showed that polymorphic loci were only 1.3%, indicating low polymorphisms. A. pacificus showed haplotype and nucleotide diversities of 0.511±0.110 and 0.15%±0.12%, respectively. Those values indicated low genetic diversity. This study concluded that the A. pacificus population in South-Coast Java showed low genetic diversity. This study provides the first data about the genetic diversity of A. pacificus in South-Coast Java, which is essential data for fisheries management.
