Abstract

Hindu higher education in Indonesia plays an important role in maintaining cultural diversity and introducing spiritual values that can be adapted in the context of globalisation. However, the challenges of curriculum modernisation and cultural preservation are major issues in the development of Hindu higher education. This research aims to provide policy recommendations that can address these issues, focusing on three main aspects: curriculum modernisation, cultural preservation, and education system reform. Modernisation of the Hindu higher education curriculum needs to be done by integrating the latest science and technology, and adjusting to the needs of the labour market and social developments. In addition, the preservation of Hindu culture should be an integral part of the curriculum to ensure that students not only gain academic knowledge, but also a deep understanding of Hindu traditions and noble values. Reform of the higher education system needs to include improving the quality of teaching, facilities, and accessibility of education for all levels of society. These policy recommendations are expected to provide a solid foundation for Hindu higher education that is sustainable, inclusive, and relevant to the challenges of the times. Through a comprehensive and innovative approach, Hindu higher education can play a role in producing the next generation that is able to maintain cultural identity while adapting to global demands.

Abstract

Preventing accidents in chemistry laboratories is a critical concern, as laboratory activities involve chemical hazards, equipment risks, and procedural errors. One of the main contributing factors to laboratory accidents is inadequate student competence during practical activities. However, systematic predictors for assessing practicum competence are still rarely implemented. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Miller’s Pyramid as a predictor of students’ practicum competence in preventing work-related accidents in chemistry laboratories. The research employed a descriptive evaluative design. The participants consisted of students from the Chemistry Department who were involved in laboratory practicums. The object of the study was students’ practicum competence based on the four levels of Miller’s Pyramid: knows, knows how, shows, and does. Data were collected through written tests, interviews, and direct observations using structured assessment rubrics. The collected data were analyzed descriptively and presented in percentage form. Student competence was categorized as good when at least 70% of the indicators at each Miller’s Pyramid level were achieved. The results showed that students’ competence at all levels of Miller’s Pyramid met the established criteria, indicating good overall practicum competence. Furthermore, the findings demonstrate that Miller’s Pyramid can effectively function as a predictor of students’ practicum competence related to laboratory safety. In conclusion, the application of Miller’s Pyramid provides a comprehensive framework for assessing and improving student competence, thereby contributing to the prevention of work accidents in chemistry laboratories

Abstract

Textile industry wastewater contains synthetic dyes that are resistant to natural degradation, toxic, and capable of polluting aquatic environments. One commonly used dye is Remazol Red RB (RRRB), which is stable and difficult to remove through conventional treatment methods. Therefore, an effective approach is needed to break down this pollutant. This study aimed to develop and characterize a zinc oxide/hydroxyapatite (ZnO/HA) nanocomposite as a photocatalyst for degrading RRRB dye and to evaluate its photocatalytic performance under UV and visible light irradiation. The ZnO/HA nanocomposite was prepared by mixing ZnO and HA at a 1:1 ratio, followed by the addition of a small amount of water. The mixture was milled for 24 hours to obtain nanoscale particles. The resulting material was calcined at 700 °C and characterized using FTIR, XRD, and SEM-EDX to determine its physicochemical properties. Photocatalytic activity tests of the ZnO/HA nanocomposite toward RRRB dye solution were conducted in a batch system under 50-watt UV and visible light irradiation. The operational variables examined included catalyst dosage, initial pH, and dye concentration. FTIR analysis showed characteristic absorption bands of ZnO and HA, indicating successful formation of the nanocomposite. XRD results revealed a crystal size of 19.67 nm, while SEM-EDX confirmed the presence of Zn, Ca, P, and O elements, consistent with the nanocomposite composition. The degradation efficiency of 300 mL of 50 mg/L of RRRB solution at pH of 5 with 2.0 g of ZnO/HA nanocomposite under 50 watts of UV and visible light in succession was 90.43% and 80.93% for 120 minutes of irradiation.  Copyright © 2026 by Authors, Published by BCREC Publishing Group. Abstract

Indonesia and the Philippines integrate international law into their constitutional systems to uphold global commitments, protect human rights, and strengthen the rule of law. This study examines how both countries regulate state sovereignty and position international obligations within the national legal order by addressing two questions: how sovereignty is constructed in the Indonesian and Philippine constitutions and how each state views the relationship between sovereignty and international obligations; and how international law, including treaties and customary rules, is integrated into their domestic legal systems. Using a normative-comparative approach, the study analyzes similarities and differences in the acceptance, ratification, and implementation of international norms at the national level. The findings indicate that although both countries uphold state sovereignty, they differ in how international law is adopted and given binding force. These differences demonstrate how constitutional structures and political-legal orientations influence the implementation of international obligations and shape the relationship between national and international law.
