Abstract

The development of digital technology has both positive and negative impacts on the lives of young people. This issue shows that the negative impacts of technological developments are manipulation, increasing online violence, loss of a sense of community, lack of concern for others, and wanting to be noticed. This encourages the Church to develop digital literacy for young people. This study uses a literature study to explore the themes surrounding the Catholic Church's view on Social Communication based on Canon 822 and the importance of digital literacy for young people. The findings of this paper are that the Church is encouraged to be a model or role model for young people. The Church is called to foster dialogue with young people, and to develop creative and innovative pastoralists in the use of digital media.

Abstract

The main focus of this discussion is to examine the attitude of Saint Francis of Assisi and Sultan Malik al-Kamil in building tolerance between religions, especially in West Borneo. St. Francis of Assisi's concern for the war that claimed so many lives at that time, made him feel that humans had begun to forget the social value of other people's lives so that an attitude of mutual suspicion arose within themselves to bring each other down through their religious beliefs. Religion is a personal human affair with God, not a human affair that interferes with the affairs of other human beings with the God they believe in. Therefore, if there is someone who interferes in such matters, a different ideological understanding will emerge. The government is trying to promote a prosperous life by daring to accept the differences that exist in Indonesia. The interreligious dialogue that was created aims to provide answers to the problems that occur to create peace. The goal to be achieved from this research is to build a lively dialogue that overrides religious ideology that leads to acts of tolerance towards others. Therefore, it is necessary for the Indonesian people to first understand what is meant by dialogue. Dialogue is understood as an artistic value in understanding when discussing the meaning, when someone conveys something, it is hoped that it will be responded with sympathy for the other person. If this is not done, then the dialogue is only limited to ordinary discussions or only to dispel suspicions. The novelty of this research is to examine and reflect on the attitude of the meeting of Saints and Sultans in building peace in maintaining the value of life in humans, which at this time has also begun to be forgotten due to differences.

Abstract

This study pays attention to the Influence of the Internet and Social Media on the way of centering the Holiness of the Youth of the Parish of Saint Vincentius A Paulo, Malang. The author's observation of several human phenomena that experience a crisis of faith due to social media. This study uses a qualitative approach and the type of research is a questionnaire (questionnaire). This qualitative approach was chosen because the authors assume that using this approach can describe the problem under study as a whole. The author distributes a questionnaire with fourteen (14) questions. This question is divided into two parts, the first question is answered directly, the second question is answered using a brief explanation. The research data was distributed to OMK (Young Catholics) of St. Vincentius A Paulo Parish, Malang. The process and analysis used in this research is an interactive data analysis model by Miles and Huberman. The analysis consists of four stages, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion and verification. The results of the research on the Holiness of Catholic Youth, the Identity of Catholic Youth, and the Influence of the Internet on Catholic Youth.

Abstract

The Catholic Church always provides space to fight for justice and gender equality in order to realize God's mission in the world. Women's lives have changed dramatically over the last quarter century. Progress on gender equality is still limited. The patriarchal culture that is still strong prolongs the suffering of the powerless and complicates the struggle and change towards justice and gender equality. Discrimination against women is a common problem in almost all occupations, even in most parts of the world. We can understand that gender is a difference that is not biological or not divine in nature. Through this article, the author wants to raise the theme of gender equality which is discussed based on the Catholic Church document, Gaudium Et Spes art. 29. This research uses a type of library research, which has the aim of tracing and analyzing data or information about the essence of the Gaudium Et Spes document Articles 9 and 29 in relation to Gender Equality. Gaudium Et Spes contribution document Articles 9 and Art. 29 is the similarity between men and women is through the institution of good will in the sense that both men and women participate in what the church stands for, namely the struggle to shape human life in a more humane way. The Catholic Church also emphasizes that this will take a long time, considering that the struggle for gender equality is not easy, especially in a world that is heavily influenced by patriarchalism social life.

Abstract

Fokus utama tulisan ini adalah mengkaji sakralitas perkawinan Katolik dalam perspektif Kitab Hukum Kanonik sebagai upaya menanggapi fenomena kawing kampong di Manggarai. Tujuan yang hendak dicapai adalah memberikan gambaran dan pemahaman yang komprehensif akan nilai sakral perkawinan Katolik terhadap masyarakat di Manggarai. Kawing kampong adalah fenomena dimana dua orang pasangan yang sudah memilih untuk hidup dan tinggal bersama layaknya suami istri kendati belum memiliki ikatan yang resmi dalam Gereja dan secara adat. Merebaknya fenomena kawing kampong di Manggarai ditengarai sebagai salah satu konsekuensi tingginya tuntutan belis (mahar) dari keluarga pihak perempuan kepada pihak laki-laki. Ketidakmampuan memenuhi tuntutan belis ini menyebabkan banyak warga Manggarai yang dengan tahu dan mau memilih tinggal bersama seperti pasangan suami istri meskipun hubungan mereka belum disahkan oleh hukum positif negara dan lembaga agama. Menyikapi fenomena ini, Gereja Katolik menegaskan kembali perihal sakralitas perkawinan yang telah diajarkan oleh Gereja bahwa perkawinan yang tidak diberkati dalam Gereja tidak memiliki validitas sakramental. Melalui praktik pastoral yang digalakkan, Gereja pertama-tama mendorong legalisasi dan pengukuhan perkawinan dalam Gereja, mengedukasi dan memberikan katekese kepada umat akan nilai luhur dan sakral suatu perkawinan, melakukan pendekatan kepada keluarga dan tokoh adat perihal pemahaman belis dalam upacara pernikahan. Melalui pendekatan studi pustaka dan analisis kritis yang digunakan, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pemahaman akan kesakaralitasan dan kesucian perkawinan dalam Gereja Katolik dan Kitab Hukum Kanonik menjadi landasan pemahaman bagi masyarakat Manggarai untuk menolak praktik kawing kampong.

Abstract

The devotional traditions of Semana Santa and Tuan Ma in Larantuka, which have been ongoing for over five centuries, constitute profound and integral religious practices for the local Catholic community. Examined from the perspective of customary law in the Code of Canon Law (CCL) Canons 25-26, this analysis aims to evaluate whether these traditions meet the criteria to be recognized as valid customs with legal force. In conducting this assessment, the research involves examining the extensive history of these traditions, comparing their practices with the requirements set forth in Canons 25 and 26, and analyzing the support from ecclesiastical authorities and local government. The results indicate that the Semana Santa and Tuan Ma traditions meet the criteria established in CCL Canons 25-26, involving the continuous participation of the entire community for over five centuries. Formal support from the Bishop of Larantuka and cooperation with local government agencies strengthen the legitimacy of these traditions, ensuring that their practices are respected and preserved within the framework of ecclesiastical law. Thus, this analysis confirms that the devotional traditions of Semana Santa and Tuan Ma are not only significant cultural heritage but also integral parts of customary law within the Catholic Church, in accordance with CCL Canons 25-26.
