Abstract

ABSTRACTIntroduction: Geographic information system (GIS) can be very effective tool in combating dengue infection. However, there is only few study that apply GIS in dengue research in IndonesiaObjectives: The purpose of this literature review is to identify how geographic information system (GIS) applications have been used in dengue mapping in Indonesia  and to critically examine the issues, strengths, weakness and challenges inherent to those approaches, especially from  the spatial analysis and public health point of view. Methods: The research articles in English or Indonesian were taken by online only using Google Scholar search engine. Only articles that addressed GIS methodology or dengue–related GIS applications were selected for this review. These articles must contain the combination three words including Geographic Information System (GIS), dengue and Indonesia in its titles or abstracts. Results: Through the review process, conducted in October 2013, it is evident that the applications of GIS in dengue research can be generally categorized into four issues including dengue risk mapping and surveillance (n = 5), combined   remote sensing-GIS (n = 4) web application (n = 2), and climatic and other associated factor with dengue (n = 3). This review explores how GIS approaches have been used to analyze the correlation of dengue incidences with environmental risk factor. GIS also used as a tool to improve dengue surveillance and outbreak management. This review also revealed the lack of GIS techniques using in Indonesian dengue research. Conclusion: GIS-related methodological techniques and tools can be meaning fully applied in dengue research and management. Keywords: Geographic Information System (GIS), dengue, Indonesia

Abstract

Abstract

Mental health problems in adolescents have become a crucial issue in recent times. Improving mental health literacy is an important strategy to prevent mental disorder in adolescents. Psychogame© has been developed as an educational tool about mental health. This serious game was received a positive feedback and good acceptance when it was introduced to a number of adolescents aged 11-15 years old in this community-based activity. Psychogame© are effectively used to improve knowledge, attitudes and behaviors related to mental health through an interesting and interactive approach. This innovative tool needs to be introduced more widely to adolescents in various backgrounds and age ranges as a mental health literacy medium.

Abstract

This literature review explores the complex relationship between social media use and adolescent mental health, with a particular focus on social anxiety and depression. In the digital era, social media plays a major role in shaping adolescents’ self-identity and emotional well-being. This review synthesizes findings from various recent studies and analyzes how excessive and uncontrolled use of social media can damage self-perception, encourage unhealthy social comparisons, and trigger psychological disorders. Using a systematic literature review method, the study identifies key internal and external factors in identity formation—such as family, peers, and role models—and how these interact with social media. It also explores the emotional impact of phenomena such as Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), the influence of social feedback on the brain’s reward system, and stress responses involving the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Finally, the review identifies relevant intervention methods, such as internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT), as approaches to address the negative effects of social media. The findings highlight the dual role of social media as both a platform for self-expression and a source of emotional stress. The recommendations emphasize the importance of digital literacy, parental involvement, and public policy in promoting healthy social media habits. The study concludes that a multidisciplinary approach is essential to support adolescent mental health in an ever-evolving digital world.
