Abstract

Abstract

In the elderly, physiological changes occur physiologically decreasing the number and size of neurons in the central nervous system resulting in the elderly unable to meet their normal sleep needs. One of the therapies to improve sleep quality in the elderly is to massage the neck using virgin coconut oil (VCO). This study aims to determine the effect of cervical massage with VCO on sleep quality in the elderly. The research design used was pre-experimental with One-group Pretest - Posttest Design and the number of respondents was 20 people. The results showed sleep quality before being given progressive muscle relaxation therapy obtained an average sleep quality of 7.9 with a standard deviation of 1.4 and after being given progressive muscle relaxation a mean sleep quality of 4.5 with a standard deviation of 0.83. Based on data analysis using the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test, p value = 0,000 <α (0.05) is obtained, which means there is an effect of nape massage with VCO on sleep quality in the elderly. Based on the results of the study, it is expected that the elderly with sleep quality problems can routinely perform neck massage with VCO regularly and continuously.

This study aimed to investigate the factors associated with contraceptive use in reproductive age couples. This study used a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The samples were 56 people selected using a non-probability sampling technique, i.e., purposive sampling.  Data were analyzed using Rank Spearman test and contingency coefficient test. The results showed that there was a correlation between contraceptive use and factors of age, education, employment, customs / culture and quality of family planning services with a p-value of <0.05. This study recommends that Mengwi Public Health Center I provide a counseling room for family planning acceptors and increase the schedule of family planning services as well as improve the quality of health workers especially in giving counseling about contraceptive use.

One of the Puskesmas in Denpasar City is Puskesmas III North Denpasar. On average, the target area experiences a lifestyle transition from rural to urban. The community began to switch from farm work to office workers so that the time and activity of their movements were very limited. Hypertension, diabetes mellitus and rheumatism are diseases that are always present in a series of 10 major diseases based on a visit to the Puskesmas III North Denpasar (Register of Health Center III North Denpasar, 2017). Based on the above phenomenon, it is very necessary to form a forum as a center for health services in order to improve the health status of the people especially those aged 15 years and over. Interviews with the head of Puskesmas III North Denpasar strongly support the establishment of integrated coaching post for non-communicable diseases which is expected to be a primary health care center for the promotion and prevention of disease.
