Abstract

To shortened this introduction, ‘Distro’ is one of cultural phenomenon in theyoung generation nowadays. The word of ‘Distro’ is the shortened of DistributionOutlet. The phenomenon of ‘Distro’ has been some kind of new trends inproducing and distributing creative design products of goods amongst theyoungsters independently, in an independence industry that open for challengingand competitiveness for everyone. This field research has been done in the city ofYogyakarta, reknown as the second city in creative design products after the cityof Bandung. Yogyakarta is welknown as the students’ city as well as the capital cityof culture of Indonesia. As a students’ city it is normal that Yogyakarta is growingin numbers of young people who pursued to study here and enriched the cultureof the city to become more multicultural and the varieties of pluralism as well.This sociocultural phenomenon not only brought some dynamic changing tosociety, economy and cultural life of the city, but also social problems that needsto be overcome. My first research question then is about how the existence of‘Distro’ in Yogyakarta can be a positive answer for social problems that may arisesfrom the hegemony of globalization markets domestically? My second questionis how the creative product designs are being made and distributed creatively inindependent industry? Lastly, my third question is dealling with the genres ofthe design products and how it can be a new trend in art expression? ‘Distro’ is aproduct of culture and it is also creating cultural change in some aspects of the lifeof the youngsters who are ‘Distro’ enthusiasts. ‘Distro’ phenomenon basically is anoffensive to the hegemony of internationally branded product design which turnsto become more over-dominated to the domestic markets and industry and thus,‘Distro’ has the spirit of survival whilts at the same time producing opportunity ofenterpreneurship. ‘Distro’: Kreativitas Independen untuk Industri Independen. Distro (DistributionOutlet) adalah salah satu fenomena yang terjadi pada generasi muda dewasa ini.Distro telah menjadi sebuah tren baru dalam memproduksi dan mendistribusikanbarang-barang dengan desain yang kreatif. Kaum muda melakukannya secaraindependen di dalam sebuah industri yang independen di mana siapapun ditantanguntuk terlibat dalam persaingan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Yogyakarta, kota kreatifkedua setelah Bandung. Kota ini dikenal sebagai kota pelajar dan kota budaya.Sejumlah besar pemuda datang dari seluruh Indonesia ke kota ini untuk belajar. Halini menyebabkan munculnya multikulturalitas dan pluralitas. Fenomena sosiokulturalini tidak saja menghadirkan dinamika dalam bidang ekonomi dan budaya, namunjuga masalah-masalah sosial yang harus dipecahkan. Masalah-masalah penelitian yang akan dijawab dengan penelitian ini adalah: pertama, bagaimana keberadaan Distro diYogyakarta dapat menjawab masalah-masalah social yang muncul karena hegemono pasarglobal?; kedua, bagaimana produk-produk dengan desain kreatif dibuat dan didistribusikansecara kreatif di dalam industri independen?; ketiga, apa saja genre desain produk yangdihasilkan dan bagaimana genre tersebut bisa menjadi sebuah tren baru dalam ekspresi seni?Distro adalah sebuah produk budaya yang juga menimbulkan perubahan budaya di kalanganpendukungnya. Fenomena Distro pada dasarnya adalah sebuah serangan terhadap hegemonidesain produk dengan merk internasional yang semakin lama semakin mendominasi pasardan industri domestic sehingga dengan demikian, Distro memancarkan semangat untukbertahandan pada saat yang sama menciptakan peluang-peluang kewirausahaan.

Abstract

Visual art in Indonesia is not stagnant at all. It is because art always respond to the complex world development from time to time. Graphical Art in Yogyakarta has been developing as well. It always contributes to the visual art promotion of Indonesia. This article will focus on exploring the movement of Graphical Art in Yogyakarta in the frame of Indonesia contemporary art discourse. The Graphical Art in Yogyakarta has been metamorphosing both in visual and conceptual aspects in line with the latest development of the contemporary art.Keywords: graphical art, contemporary art, alternative discourse

Abstract

The Indonesian visual art movement are through hard time, struggling in response to the ever happen complexity of art in the world around; as experience by Yogyakarta's print making. Thus, it is interesting to know how it survive and contribute to the Indonesian visual art. The presented paper focuses on understanding the movement of Yogyakarta's printmaking in relation to the discouse of Indonesian contemporary art through visual and conceptual analysis. Results show that visual expressions of the Yogyakarta's printmaking has visually and conceptually evolved following the latest development in the contemporary art discourse.

Abstract

ABSTRAKIde dan gagasan penciptaan karya jurnal ini mengambil dari nilai positif yang terjadi dalam kehidupan keluarga. Nilai yang diajarkan dari sikap dan prilaku orang tua dan dijelaskan oleh orang tua kepada anak agar nantinya dapat menjadi landasan kehidupan bagi anak. Nilai kehidupan yang diajarkan dalam lingkungan keluarga yaitu nilai tanggung jawab, nilai gotong royong, dan nilai toleransi. Nilai kehidupan ini yang menjadikan ide visualisasi penciptaan karya seni grafis dengan teknik silkscreen atau cetak saring yang dicetak pada media kertas. Meminjam bentuk dari suatu figur potret manusia dengan anatomi yang ideal dan penggambaran tanaman dan hewan yang ada dilingkungan sekitar dapat menambah kuat arti dari simbol visual dari sebuah nilai kehidupan yang terjadi dalam lingkungan keluarga. Sehingga dengan menciptakan karya seni grafis diharapkan dapat menjadi media renungan, pengingat serta memberi pencerahan bagi penulis maupun pembaca agar menjadi lebih baik lagi dalam memahami dan menjalani kehidupan dimasyarakat.Kata kunci : lingkungan keluarga, karakter anak, seni grafis ABSTRACTThe ideas and ideas for creating this journal work draw from the positive values that occur in family life. Values are taught from the attitudes and behavior of parents and explained by parents to children so that later they can become the foundation of life for children. The values of life that are taught in the family environment are the values of responsibility, the values of mutual cooperation, and the values of tolerance. This life value is what makes the idea of visualizing the creation of graphic artwork using silkscreen or filter printing techniques printed on paper media. Borrowing the form of a human portrait figure with ideal anatomy and the depiction of plants and animals in the surrounding environment can add a strong meaning to the visual symbol of a life value that occurs in the family environment. So that by creating works of graphic art it is hoped that they can become media for reflection, reminders and provide enlightenment for writers and readers so that they can better understand and live life in society.Keywords : Family environment, children's characters, printmaking.
