Abstract

This research focuses on the roles and strategies that Forum Kerukunan Antar Umat Beragama/FKUB (interreligious harmony forum) plays in preserving interreligious harmony and analyzes the barries that it encounters. This study employed a qualitative approach, interviewing 79 informants consisting of the chair and members of FKUB in three districts and cities and the FKUB of Aceh province, as well as religious and community leaders. The research subjects were selected by purposive sampling method, and the data were analyzed using a descriptive approach. The research found that the interfaith harmony in the province of Aceh is well established. There are five strategies for realizing such harmony: tolerance, equality, cooperation, mutual respect, and communication. This study also revealed that the FKUB has carried out its role optimally in creating interfaith harmony in Aceh. However, it experiences some obstacles due to sociological, internal, and external factors. Despite these challenges, the FKUB in Aceh has relatively been able to overcome those obstacles.

Abstract

Fansur is an ancient Islamic city in Nusantara (the Indonesian archipelago) which was very popular in the past. However, the specific location of the city is still being debated today. Generally, contemporary writers state that Fansur is located in Barus, one of the areas in Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra. This opinion has been challenged from several authoritative sources. To solve the above problems, this research was conducted through an archaeological approach and literature study. Based on archaeological evidence and written sources, Fansur City is located in Lhok Pancu or Lhok Lambaroneujid, one of the coastal areas to the west of the city of Banda Aceh, Aceh. This location fits perfectly with the character of the Fansur location mentioned in ancient records from the Middle East, China and Europe. Due to geological changes that have occurred frequently in the past in the Aceh region, most of the area has been lost and cannot be seen again. The remains of ancient ceramics, tombstones and ancient tomb complex (diway) are archaeological evidence to strengthen the argument that Fansur is an ancient Islamic port city located in the Aceh Besar region, not in Barus, Central Tapanuli.

Abstract

One of the 19th-century Malay-language Arab-Jawi manuscripts that contains the fiqh knowledge is the Marba’ Fi Hukm An-Nikah manuscript. The aim behind this study and its goal are to learn more about the edited text and the manuscript's key concepts. Because comparing the texts is an objective process, the research methodology involves philological analysis. There were just two manuscript texts discovered after searching the document. The first manuscript, which serves as the basis for comparison, is in the Pedir Museum's collection and has the inventory number MS-PM-0489/2020. The second manuscript, which serves as the basis for comparison, is in the Aceh State Museum's collection and has the inventory number 07 809. The text MS-PM-0489/2020 was chosen since the quality is higher with intact pages. The four major schools of thought's perspectives (mazhab) on the rules governing marriage are the text's main focus. The results of this study reveal that two things are necessary: first, a text that has been edited and given a critical edition; and second, it is essential to fully comprehend the manuscript Marba' Fi Hukm An-Nikah, which contains Islamic teachings on the science of fiqh. The book contains writings on a wide range of subjects, including talaq, fasakh law, taqlid law, and marriage and all themes related to marriage.
