Abstract

Treatment of high blood pressure or hypertension can be done by pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods. Non-pharmacological treatment involves consuming herbal plants which are believed to be able to reduce high blood pressure, one of which is noni fruit juice. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of noni fruit decoction on reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers in the Tanjung Sari Community Health Center Working Area, Natar District, South Lampung Regency in 2024. This type of research is quantitative, quasi-experimental design, one group pre test and post test design approach. The sample in this study were hypertension sufferers in the Tanjung Sari Community Health Center Working Area, Natar District, South Lampung Regency, totaling 32 respondents. The sampling technique in this research used purposive sampling. The test used uses a paired t-test. Based on statistical tests, a p-value of 0.000 or p-value < 0.05 was obtained, which means that there is an effect of giving noni fruit juice on reducing blood pressure in hypertension sufferers in the Tanjung Sari Community Health Center Working Area, Natar District, South Lampung Regency in 2024. The average systolic blood pressure before and after being given noni fruit juice was from 164.38 mmHg to 130.94 mmHg. Meanwhile, the average diastolic blood pressure was from 110 mmHg to 84.69 mmHg. This means that it is proven that giving noni fruit juice has the effect of reducing hypertension or blood pressure.

Abstract

Hypertension is a common health problem in adults and can lead to serious complications if not properly managed. At UPTD PSLU Tresna Werdha Natar, cases have increased over the past three years. Current management relies mainly on pharmacological therapy, while non-pharmacological interventions such as warm foot soaking and foot massage rollers have not been implemented. This study aimed to determine the effect of combining warm foot soaking and foot massage rollers on blood pressure in hypertensive patients at UPTD PSLU Tresna Werdha Natar, South Lampung, in 2025. This study used a quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. A total of 17 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The intervention consisted of warm foot soaking combined with a foot massage roller, administered three times per week for two weeks. Data were analyzed using the paired sample t-test. Most respondents were female (64.7%) and aged 60–70 years (58.8%). Before the intervention, the majority had stage 2 hypertension (76.5%). After the intervention, blood pressure decreased among respondents. The paired sample t-test showed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of the combined intervention on reducing blood pressure. These findings suggest that this combination can be applied as a non-pharmacological intervention to help control blood pressure in elderly patients with hypertension.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Hypertension is blood pressure that exceeds normal limits, which vary according to age. In older adults, the most common type of hypertension is isolated systolic hypertension (ISH), which is systolic pressure above 140 mmHg. This study aims to determine the effect of combination therapy using acupressure with ylang-ylang oil on blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. This study was quantitative in nature with a pre-test post-test quasi-experimental design involving a control group. The sampling technique used was total sampling, involving 36 elderly people with hypertension, divided into 18 intervention groups and 18 control groups. Blood pressure was measured using a sphygmomanometer and combination therapy with acupuncture using SOP. This study uses univariate and bivariate analysis with paired sample T-tests and independent T-tests. Data processing in this study uses SPSS version 26.0. This study was conducted in the Pesawaran region. There was a difference in systolic blood pressure before the intervention, with an average value of 178.70 mmHg, and after the intervention, systolic blood pressure decreased to 155.50 mmHg with a P-value of 0.000. Before the intervention, the average diastolic blood pressure was 91.33 mmHg, and after the intervention, it decreased to an average of 82.67 mmHg with a P-value of 0.000. This study shows that there is an effect of combination therapy using ylang-ylang essential oil acupressure on the blood pressure of elderly people with hypertension. Keywords: Combination Therapy of Acupressure, Ylang-Ylang Essential Oil, Blood Pressure, Hypertension, Elderly.
