Abstract

This study aims to describe the Catholic spouses’ views on the unity and indissolubility of Christian marriage and how they live out these essential properties in their marital life. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with purposive sampling to select informants, consisting of Catholic couples who have been married for more than 20 years. Data were collected through in-depth interviews. The study took place in a Catholic parish community in Indonesia. The findings revealed two main conclusions. First, the Catholic spouses understand the unity and indissolubility of marriage as a sacred covenant grounded in their faith and commitment before God. Second, they strive to live out these values consistently in daily life, demonstrating fidelity, mutual support, and perseverance despite life’s challenges.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the interest of the researcher to recognize how far the Ursuline Sisters deepen and internalize the spirituality of Saint Angela Marici as a founder of the Congregation of Santa Ursula. This research aims to describe and explain the understanding and internalization of the spirituality of Santa Angela Marici in the community life of Ursuline Sisters in Madiun City.To answer the objectives of this research, the researcher interviewed 6 informants Ursuline Sisters who are members of the Ursuline Sisters Community in Madiun City. Those informants are chosen using a Purposive Sampling Technique. This research took place from March 1-31, and it was done using Quantitative Research Methodology. The results of the research conclude that all the Ursuline Sisters understand and internalize the spirituality of Saint Angela Marici in living their Holy Vocation. The sisters are living out this spirituality through double love: love for God and love for neighbors. The internalization of love for the neighbors shown among those is through the accompaniment rendered to all the students of Santa Ursula’s Girls” Dormitory. The kinds of accompaniment are expressed through the openness to the presence of all the students at the dormitory, teaching a life of appreciating others and food, accompanying studying activity, teaching a simple lifestyle, involving in decision-making, positioning themselves as responsible mother for daily life of all the students at the dormitory, getting to know each student’s personality at the dormitory, acting decisively, positioning themselves as a friend, and becoming living example to all the students at the dormitory.

Abstract

Basic christian community of St. Philip at the Holy Spirit Parish in Surabaya inhabited by many catholic young people so called catholic young people (Orang Muda Katolik or OMK). Most of the OMK members consist of the students or workers. The busyness of studying and working resulting in many of OMK’s members are not actively involved in the church activities. Most of them rarely and reluctantly participate in the Church activities. They spend most of their holidays and free time with their own friends, and they pay less attention to the Church’s activities. The research was conducted with the aim of identifying factors (motivation) which are supporting the involvement of OMK in the Church activities, especially in St. Philip basic christian community. OMK's involvement in the church activities is rooted in the sacrament of Baptism. Through this sacrament, OMK is called to take part in the five missions of the Church in the world so called Liturgia, Kerygma, Koinonia, Diakonia, Martyria. This research used qualitative methods. Data collection was carried out by using individual interview techniques. There were 8 members of OMK interviewed for the study. All of those OMK’s members live in St. Philip’s basic christian community.The results of the research pointed out that the majority of OMK’s members in the basic christian community were less actively involved in church’s activities. This was due to several factors, including OMK’s activities being too boring, busyness of working and studying, and the lack of support of their parents. The results of research also pointed out there was a small number of OMK’s members in the christian community were actively involved in church activities due to the internal and external motivation.

Abstract

The Catholics faithful who has baptized being called to be actively involved in the Christ mission by doing those five tasks of the Church’s missions. However, many Catholics faithful do not involve yet in the Church’s missions. The study aimed to analyze the motivation for involvement of the members of Santa Agnes Basic Christian Community at Santa Maria Parish, Blitar in the Church’s missions. The research applied a qualitative method, and the data was collected by using direct interview technique, then informan of the study selected using purposive sampling technique. The results of the study indicated that the members of Basic Christian Community of Santa Agnes have a high enthusiasm and motivation to participate in doing the Church’s missions. The main motivations which drive the members of Basic Christian Community of Santa Agnes to be actively involved in the Church’s missions are the personal awareness of the grace of God’s forgiveness and health, the support of both the family and the Christian Community members, and being motivated by the values of sacrament of baptism.

Abstract

The formulation of the problem of this study is what is the content of the Apostolic Letter Patris Corde?, and how relevant are the virtues of Saint Joseph according to the Apostolic Letter Patris Corde for Catholic families today?. The researcher uses a qualitative literature study method, carried out by tracing written sources in the Holy Bible, Church documents, books, theses, and journals as well as articles on the internet that are relevant to the research topic. This study concludes: The virtues of Saint Joseph according to the Apostolic Letter Patris Corde are 1) Joseph, the beloved father; 2) Joseph, the gentle and loving father; 3) Joseph, the obedient father; 4) Joseph, the accepting father; 5) Joseph, the creatively courageous father; 6) Joseph, the working father; 7) Joseph, the shadow father. The results of the study show that the virtues of Saint Joseph according to the Apostolic Letter Patris Corde are very relevant to the life of Catholic families today by always being faithful to one's partner, being open to one's offspring, providing an example to children, accepting one another unconditionally, having creative courage to face challenges and difficulties, always being honest, and working together with God, and children seeing God's love and goodness in their parents.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the perspectives of the faithful of Saint Vincentius a Paulo Parish, Surabaya, regarding their participation in daily Eucharistic celebrations and the spiritual fruits they experience through such participation. The study is motivated by various challenges faced by the faithful in participating in daily Eucharistic celebrations, including a lack of interest in attending daily Mass, limited understanding of the Eucharist, the perception that devotional practices are more important than the Eucharist, and the assumption that Eucharistic celebrations are monotonous and less engaging. This research employed a qualitative method and was conducted at Saint Vincentius a Paulo Parish, Surabaya. The participants consisted of eight respondents selected through purposive sampling techniques. Data were collected through observation and direct interviews. The findings reveal that the faithful of Saint Vincentius a Paulo Parish demonstrate a strong commitment to attending and participating in daily Eucharistic celebrations. Their participation provides significant spiritual fruits, particularly in fostering personal spiritual growth and development, as well as bringing positive impacts to their family life.
