Abstract

The toddler period is the first year of human life. This period is an important and critical period. The toddler period is classified as a developmental stage that has the potential to have health problems because the immune system in toddlers is not strong enough to deal with viruses or germs from outside. In this regard, it is necessary to monitor nutritional status by measuring physical growth using anthropometric parameters. Monitoring of nutritional status that is often carried out regularly at posyandu is measuring body length (PB), body weight (BB) and upper arm circumference (LILA). During the measurement activities at Posyandu Sokon, Fatukoa, difficulties and challenges were found that could bias the measurement, so it is very important to handle and control it so that the results obtained are valid and do not harm the clients being served. The tool used to measure body length is the Length Board, for body weight is a digital scale, and to measure the LILA uses the LILA tape. The number of toddlers measured was 63 people. From the inspection activities, there were many obstacles when taking measurements where the most common difficulties were found, namely toddlers who often cry and cannot be silent when they want to be examined

Abstract

Hypertension is a significant worldwide health concern that greatly affects heart-related illnesses and deaths. One recommended method to help lower blood pressure without medication is the isometric handgrip exercise. This research aimed to investigate the impact of isometric handgrip exercise on lowering blood pressure in those with prehypertension and stage 1 hypertension. The study utilized a quasi-experimental design following a two-group pretest–posttest format. The participants included 50 seminarians from Seminari Tinggi St. Mikhael Penfui, Kupang, who were chosen through purposive sampling based on specific inclusion and exclusion criteria. The participants were split into two groups: the intervention group (n = 25) that engaged in isometric handgrip exercises for three minutes daily over five days, and the control group (n = 25) that did not participate in any exercise. The data were evaluated using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test and the Mann–Whitney test. After five days of exercise, a notable decrease in blood pressure occurred in the intervention group, both for prehypertension (systolic p < 0.001; diastolic p = 0.005) and stage 1 hypertension (systolic p = 0.003; diastolic p = 0.012). No remarkable changes were noted in the control group (p > 0.05). The comparison between the two groups indicated significant differences in blood pressure changes for both categories (p < 0.05). Isometric handgrip training significantly affects reducing blood pressure in individuals with prehypertension and stage one hypertension.

Abstract

Inappropriate timing of complementary feeding causes nutritional problems and increases the likelihood of malnutrition in the region. Mothers' understanding of complementary feeding is crucial in determining when and how it is introduced. This study aims to explore the relationship between maternal knowledge and the appropriate timing of complementary feeding in the area served by the Langa Community Health Center. This study included a correlational analysis with a cross-sectional approach. Data analysis in this study was conducted using univariate and bivariate approaches (Chi-Square test). The results of the analysis showed that the timing of introducing complementary feeding at six months of age was 64.1%. Meanwhile, maternal knowledge was assessed as being in the good range at 48.5%. The bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge level, good or bad, and the timing of introducing complementary feeding. The conclusion is that there is a significant relationship between maternal knowledge level and the timing of introducing complementary feeding in infants aged 6 to 24 months in the Langa Community Health Center area, Ngada Regency.

Abstract

Tension-Type Headache (TTH) is the most common headache and is often stress-related. Engineering students face high academic burdens that may trigger insomnia and affect pain thresholds. Despite neuroanatomical links between sleep and pain, evidence regarding the insomnia-TTH relationship in this group remains inconsistent. Objective: To determine the relationship between insomnia and TTH among engineering students at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Universitas Nusa Cendana. This analytic observational study used a cross-sectional design. Stratified random sampling selected 52 active students from the cohorts of 2022, 2023, and 2024. Instruments included the Headache Screening Questionnaire (HSQ) and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). Data were analyzed using the Spearman correlation test. The prevalence of insomnia among respondents was predominantly categorized as subthreshold insomnia (42.3%) and moderate clinical insomnia (42.3%). The prevalence of TTH was also high, with 65.4% of respondents experiencing TTH and 23.1% experiencing probable TTH. Bivariate analysis results indicated no significant relationship between insomnia and Tension-Type Headache ($p=0.667$; $r= -0.061$). The very weak negative correlation indicates that an increase in insomnia scores was not statistically associated with an increase in TTH incidence. Insomnia and TTH prevalence are high among engineering students, but no significant relationship was found between insomnia and TTH in this population.
