Abstract

Workers as human resouce contribute significantly to productivity in an organization. Their contribution is big even when technology has replaced some of their rules and functions. However, workers are not free from facing problems at the work place related to the work that they do, the work place itself, other wokers etc. Research conducted at a Songket handicraft industry X is to identify sources of dissatisfaction face by their workers at the work place. The study also intends to see how the workers express their feelings of dissatisfaction and to understand workers attitude towards their place of work. This is an empirical study using questionnaire and interview as tha main techniques in a survey for gathering data. A total of 20 respondents were met. The SPSS program was used to analyze the quantitative data. The fundings show that the main cause of dissatisfaction among the workers is the wages they receive. Other extrinsic (such as management style, work burden and depression from other workers)) and intrinsic factors (such as appreciation and respect) also contribute to the dissatisfaction among workers. Besides that, problem at work place continues because the workers are not concern about their right and welfare. As such it can be said that workers need to be managed well and their well being looked after. Otherwise, it could be a cause of dissatisfaction among the workers and without proper channels to help address it could lead the workers to express them in the informal and negative ways.Key words : human resource, songket, handy craft

Abstract

The many variety of GSM card and services enables the customers to change brands easily. This has caused a tighter competition between the brands. In order to face the competition, GSM operators need to understand the customers’ perception and judgment on the preference scale toward the atribute of the products and services. GSM card operators also need to understand the brand switching pattern and its competitior position in analysing the market today or in the future. By the analyses, the operator hopes to acquired some description of their position and product situation among the tight competition between4 operators. The description can then be used as input in determining the marketing strategies for the future. The objects in this research are analyzed using Markov’s chain method on brand switching. The analysis on customer’s judgments on the product attributes and services is aided by the use of descriptive statistics. The case study is performed on the 8th semester students of Bunda Mulia University, majoring in Management. The population is 105 students. The research method is by using survey and the type of research is descriptive research. The data collecting technique is through the use of questionnaire and literary review. The results shows that the source of reference of the customer’s choice which is 3.81% from the event, 12.38% from families, 29.52 from commercials, 45.71% from friends, and 8.57% from other unspecified sources. The prediction of the market from the five operators in consequential orders are (0.0695, 0.6401, 0.0295, 0.1207, 0.1402), and the prediction of equilibrium moment are (0.0218, 0.5805, 0.0264, 0.117, 0.2543).The biggest market share is owned by XL which is 64.01%, and the smallest is by mentari with the share of 2.95%. The biggest sorce of reference for the students in choosing operators is from promotion events with the percentage of 30.81% and from friends is only 19.88%. Looking at this result it can be suggested that operators should increase their services and increase their promotion events in gaining the market share of GSM users. Keyword : GSM cards, brand switching, Markov’s chain, market share

Abstract

The background of this research on Syariah banking is based on the opinion and supposition that the interest given by conventional banking is a usury. As can be seen on the national and regional development on Syariah Banking, it is shown that the public interest in Syariah Banking is very high. This research is conducted mainly in the city of Pekanbaru on Bank Riau Syariah Pekanbaru Branch. The purpose of this research is to find out the factors often influencing the public interest in saving their money on Bank Riau Syariah. There are primary and secondary used in this research. The primary data is directly acquired from the main resources through the use of questionnaire. The secondary data used in this research is gathered with the help from Bank Riau Syariah Pekanbaru Branch, and the organizational structure of said bank. The method used in analysing the data of the research is a descriptive method which is done by following the procedure of solving the problem being investigated and by describing the state of the object of the research at the time of the research, based on the fact and reality. Then, the data collected is organized and arranged in the form of tables to be later elaborated and analysed. The result of the research shows that the dominant factors in influencing the public interest in saving their money in Bank Riau Syariah Pekanbaru Branch is to avoid act of committing usury. The other factors are profit and the belief that saving in a Syariah Bank is one form of confirming the Islamic Syariah. Moreover, there are also other factors influencing the public interest in saving in a Syariah Bank, such as accessibility, security, and other non-related factors such as the good service provided by the bank in serving its customer. Key Words- Syariah Bank, Saving, Customer

Abstract

The increasing of private vehicles and public transportation are the main cause of traffic jammed on the road. The use of public vehicles in Pekanbaru city is higher than the transportation provided by urban council through Dinas Lalu Lintas Transportasi Jalan Raya (DLLAJR). The aim of this paper is to do a research on public transportation system (oplet, ojek, city bus, taxi), also, to analyse which transportation system that have been chosen by consumer in Pekanbaru. The result shows that people are prefer to use oplet and city bus as their transportation even though it has high risk of safety and danger to them. Most people in town has their own vehicles so that the use of public transportation only for temporary period and it usually used by students who has low income. This study finally found that the ojek services are the only transportation system that can arrive to the destination in short time and it can access anywhere that cannot be accessed by other transportation system. The low cost of ojek services is the main reason that people choose it as their transportation. It is obviously shows that the use of transportation system in Pekanbaru is bused on efficiency and punctuality of the public transportation.Key WordsPublic Transportation, Efficiency, City Service

Abstract

The purpose of this survey is to find out the effectiveness of UBM shuttle buses. This is a quistionaire-based survey with 100 respondents that is purposively selected. Data analysis uses mean and validity and realibility for questionnaire produce the following results: the UBM shuttle buses is the facility used by the UBM students, that economically help the students expenses.  Key Words:Student perception, effectivity, UBM shuttle bus

Abstract

Riau is a province on the Island of Sumatera that is adjacent to Singapore and Malaysia. Currently more tourist come to Riau for various purposes. This arrival of tourist becomes a trigger of the hotel growth. By the increasing of the hotel growth, local government needs to organize the tourism sector. It aims to add the time of stay so that the people of Riau get the positive impact from this situation. Because of that reason, we need to know the factors that influence the confidence of investor, mainly in hotel sector.Keywords: hotel growth, tourism sector, confidence of investor

Abstract

Terdapat dua fenomena yang terjadi pada harga saham setelah IPO yaitu underpricing dan overpricing. Fenomena underpricing merupakan kejadian dimana harga saham perusahaan melonjak pada hari pertama perdagangan di pasar sekunder. Underpricing sering dikaitkan dengan initial return yang akan diterima oleh investor atau pemegang saham. Initial return merupakan keuntungan yang diterima oleh investor yang berasal dari selisih antara harga perdana suatu saham dengan harga pada saat di pasar sekunder. Sementara itu overpricing merupakan kejadian dimana harga saham menurun pada hari pertama pedagangan di pasar sekunder. Penelitian bertujuan untuk melihat faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi underpricing saham-saham setelah IPO. Data yang digunakan merupakan data sekunder yang bersumber pada Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI). Data mengenai harga penawaran atau H-1 di dapat dari e-bursa.com. Data mengenai underwriter, umur perusahaan, dan ukuran perusahaan diambil dari prospektus yang didapat dari Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI). Sedangkan data-data mengenai keuangan perusahaan di ambil dari laporan keuangan perusahaan yang didapat dari BEI. Sampel perusahaan ini adalah perusahaan yang melakukan IPO pada tahun 2011-2013, memiliki rasio-rasio keuangan yang lengkap, dan perusahaan yang menggunakan mata uang Rupiah dalam laporan keuangannya. Untuk menganalisis perusahaan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model regresi berganda. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ukuran perusahaan, ROA, reputasi underwriter, EPS, DER, umur perusahaan tidak terbukti berpengaruh terhadap initial return baik secara parsial maupun secara simultan.
