The technique of determining the informants using purposive random sampling technique, with the reason that farmers who no longer carry out the tradition of early planting and early harvesting are known and the farmers are randomly assigned. The data collection technique used observation, interviews and documentation, which was then tested for data validation with the aim that the data collected was valid. The data analysis technique used an interactive technique from Milles and Huberman. The results of the study are as follows: (1) There is a change in belief that the traditional ceremony of early planting and early harvesting has nothing to do with soil fertility and sugarcane harvest success. (2) Farming communities now perceive that the early planting and early harvesting traditions are not the cause of the success of sugarcane harvesting, because the success of harvesting and soil fertility are influenced by fertilizers and crop management. (3) educatively, the tradition is no longer in accordance with modern values that put forward logical thinking (4) moreover, technologically, the tradition is an irrational act so it doesn't need to be done. Keywords: Perception; Tradition; Religion; Technology and Education
