Abstract

Ultrasonic motor’s model adapting to control application is the foundation of the motor’s high performance control. Ultrasonic motor’s frequency-speed control model gives a signification to improve speed control performance. This paper shows the design of stepping response experiments, and also explains the model identification of USM by the way of characteristic point method. Considering its time-varying characteristic, model parameters can be fitted using functions with the independent variable is frequency or speed. Consequently, non-linearity can reflect in speed control model appropriately.

Abstract

Because of ultrasonicmotor’s time-variable nonlinearity, a online adaptive correction of PID controlparameters based on fuzzy logic is presented. The special nature of ultrasonicmotor’s speed control are fully taken into account in designing fuzzy rules.The amplitude of driving voltage is used as the control parameter to realizethe control method. The experiments indicate that the control characteristicsare much better than that of PID controller.

Abstract

Because of the serious non-linearity and coupling among state variables caused by the complex energy conversion process in ultrasonic motor, the motion control strategy of ultrasonic motor still need to be studied in detail to obtain better performance. As a kind of special control method, the low-frequency PWM control strategy can make the on-line optimum control easier, and may be an effective means to realize high performance motion control using ultrasonic motor. But this kind of strategy has not been studied in detail until now.
