Abstract

Environmentally sound development is a development effort undertaken with due regard to environmental aspects. UKL-UPL is an instrument that is expected to be a deterrent of environmental pollution and damage, which in its application UKL-UPL is one of the prerequisites to obtain Environmental Permit. The aim of the research is to know the realization of environmental management and monitoring activities as contained in the UKL-UPL document of environmental permit holders in Sorong City area and the factors that influence the successful implementation of environmental management and monitoring activities. Objects observed in this study were environmental permit holders who implement environmental management and monitoring (UKL-UPL) program in Sorong City. The environmental permit holders are three (3) types of business and or activity consisting of andesite mining activities by PT. Lintas Artha Lestari, then shopping service activities by Mall Ramayana and Activity of power plant by PLTD Klasaman. The method used in this research was descriptive method with observation and interview technique. The results of research in general realization of each business owner and or activity in realizing environmental management program was relatively different both in terms of the number and completion of the completion of activities. PT. Lintas Artha Lestari successful UKL realization UPL quite successful. Factors that contribute to the realization are Policy and institutional resources and supervision. PT. Prima Lestari Investindo (Ramayana Mall) realization UKL was quite successful, realization UPL did not succeed. Factors that contribute to the realization are supervision and policy and institutional resources. PLTD Classification Realization UKL successful, realization UPL successful. Institutional, resource, policy and supervisory factors contributed equally to the realization of UKL-UPL.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to formulate management strategies related to the condition and potential of the park. The results showed that land cover of Gunung Meja natural tourism park dominated by natural forest (77.5%), followed by plantations forest (11.7%), the former garden area (5.6%), gardens (3.4%) and open land, electricity network, tower and street with percent smaller extent. Potential natural forest vegetation is very high, includes 159 species of trees (186 individuals/ha, high diversity indeck), 149 species of poles (867 individuals / ha, medium diversity indeck), 164 species of saplings (3,904 individuals / ha, medium diversity indeck) and 177 species of seedlings (32,300 individuals / ha, medium diversity indeck) with the total of species is 223, as well as forest vegetation plants, medicinal plants and farm / plantation vegetation. The diversity of wildlife species include 15 species of mammals (2 species protected), 35 species of birds (12 species protected), 21 other species (8 lizards, 3 amphibia, 9 snakes and 1 turtles) and 14 species of insects (1 species protected). Potential support includes Japanese monument, caves, water and social communities. Utilization of the region has not done so well that affect the area as a result of the existence of agricultural activities, logging and utilities. Referral management includes policies (policies that embody accommodate all interests through the zoning system by protected zone, farm exploit zone and buffer zone).

Abstract

An urban forest is a collection of trees growing among buildings and people where they can protect the city as the functional traits. Forests are playing an important role in stabilizing CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere. As forest is a source of CO2 emissions, forests are also able to absorb and store CO2, so we could estimate the amount of CO2 absorbed by forest trees by calculating their biomass. This study aims to obtain the amount of carbon stock stored in the City Forest of Bumi Saniari, Teluk Bintuni Regency. Carbon stock was calculated to obtaine aboveground carbon (AGB), below ground carbon (BGB) and litter carbon (CS). In this study no measurements were made of soil carbon. The method used in this research is descriptive method and field survey with measurements using the nondestructive method. The results obtained were 801.52 tons of stored carbon above ground (AGB), the soil surface / litter (CS) is 273.54 tons C. The total carbon stock is 10 hectares of 1,411.69 tons C.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the quality of leachate water in the processing unit (IPAL) of TPA Sowi Gunung and the quality of surface water around the TPA in relation to the operation of the IPAL TPA.The method used in this research is descriptive method with cross sectional survey technique by collecting leachate samples from the IPAL unit and surface water samples from two springs around the landfill area accompanied by in situ measurements of pH parameters and continued with 6 parameter quality analysis others (TSS, TDS, BOD, COD, N-total, TOC) at the Laboratory of the Center for Environmental Research, University of Papua. The result of the research it is known that the parameters of pH, TSS, BOD, COD, N-total, and TOC in the TPA IPAL unit are categorized as under quality standards (PerMenLHK No.59 of 2016 concerning leachate quality standards for businesses and / or activities for final processing sites trash). In particular, the TDS parameter does not have a tolerance limit corresponding to this quality standard so that it becomes a separate consideration in its management considering that water with a high amount of dissolved solids> 1000 mg / L has an unpleasant taste, so it is not suitable for consumption.Likewise, the quality of surface water at 2 (two) observation points of springs through parameters of pH, TSS, TDS, BOD, COD, N-total, and TOC are categorized as under class I water quality standards according to PP No. 82 of 2001 concerning water quality management and water pollution control.
