Abstract

Proses sokletasi terhadap resin damar dengan menggunakan pelarut heksana mempengaruhi sifat konduktivitas dari campuran damar dengan zeolit pada perbandingan tertentu. Konduktivitas elektroda dari resin damar dan zeolit bottom ash diukur dengan menggunakan rangkaian sederhana. Elektroda dibuat dengan mencampur hasil sokletasi resin damar dan zeolit dengan perbandingan tertentu. Zeolit yang digunakan merupakan hasil sentesis dari limbah bottom ash melalui metoda hidrotermal menggunakan peleburan NaOH. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa damar yang telah disokletasi mempunyai konduktivitas yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan damar tanpa sokletasi.

Abstract

The activity of utilizing waste paper into high economic value products had been carried out in Talawi Mudik. The activity was carried out through the transfer of Paper Filigree 3-Dimensional technology, namely processing waste paper into a classy business based on zero waste. That it can contribute in empowering the community, especially increasing family income, contributing to women who did not work and activated of PKK and dasawisma. The purpose of this activity was to make this technology business opportunity. It can be done by anyone due to the processing in short time, low invest, used tools and materials surrounding. The community service activity started with counseling the dangerous of paper waste in health and environment, followed by training on waste paper processing with simple waste-based techniques. In the training, the participants immediately practiced producing products, assisted until they do themself. The participants were equipped with entrepreneurial concepts and marketing techniques to motivated them to form a home industry. It could impact on new job opportunities, increased family income and the formation of new business groups that provided the program to be sustainable.

Abstract

Seberang Padang Village, South Padang District, is next to Padang City, which has approximately 200 families. This location is a crossing area between Padang-Painan, in West Sumatra. The community consists of two existing traditional markets that sell daily necessities. Besides that, there is also one elementary school, two junior high schools, and one high school. The global Covid-19 pandemic certainly affects the community's daily activities and learning activities, including children, elementary school students, middle and high school students, and the village community to fulfil their basic needs. Furthermore, the main problem of Covid-19 is not only about the effects caused by the virus on sufferers but also about its high-speed transmission. Therefore, to educate the community around the Seberang Padang village, several Chemistry Lecturers and students at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Andalas University did a community engagement. They taught the community about making disinfectants and hand sanitizers without alcohol that can overcome the occurrence of Covid-19 transmission. In addition, face masks were provided for the community, and the alms of food for underprivileged residents to push down the negative impact of Covid-19.

Abstract

3-Dimensional Roll Work technology training by processing waste paper into high-value handicraft products has been carried out in Nagari Lareh Nan Panjang, Padang Pariaman Regency. Most of the productive age groups in this area were unemployed women who depend on their husband's income for a living. In other hand, the activities of women's farmer groups, youth groups and (Family Welfare Movement) PKK were not productive. This activity aims to foster and empower community groups, especially women, in managing and processing paper waste into high selling value products with 3-Dimensional Roll Work technology that can be used as business opportunities so as to increase household income. The activity began with counseling on the dangers of paper waste for health and the environment, and continued by 3-dimensional Roll Work training. The indicator of the achievement of the targeted community service program was the management and processing of paper waste where each participant can produce quality handicraft products, namely key chains and accessories, while for other handicraft products, it was continued for group activities such as tissue, accessories, and cake boxes. This activity can be used as a sustainable empowerment effort through increasing community participation, self-financing and community self-help so as to create economically independent women in Nagari Lareh Nan Panjang.

Abstract

Performance karbon aktif dari limbah cangkang kelapa sawit sebagai bahan elektroda pada superkapasitor telah dipelajari. Superkapasitor dirangkai dengan metoda plat/sandwich yang dipisahkan oleh separator PVA (Polivinil Alkohol). Untuk meningkatkan nilai kapasitansi dilakukan aktivasi terhadap karbon menggunakan aktivator KOH 10 M dan dipelajari karakterisasinya dengan XRD (X-Ray Diffraction), FTIR (Fourier Transform infrared Spektroscopy), SEM-EDX (Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-Ray) dan SAA (Surface Area Analyzer). Karbon aktif yang diaktivasi memiliki luas permukaan 15 kali lebih besar yaitu 27,253 m2/g dibandingkan dengan karbon tanpa diaktivasi yaitu 1,829 m2/g. Superkapasitor dibuat dengan menvariasikan ukuran partikel, luas plat, konsentrasi larutan elektrolit dan waktu pengisian dan dihasilkan nilai kapasitansi tertinggi yaitu 48,2516 µF dengan luas permukaan 3 x 11 cm2, waktu pengisian 35 menit dan konsentrasi elektrolit H3PO4 0,3 N.

Abstract

Pengaruh penambahan karbon aktif tanah gambut terhadap kinerja superkapasitor berbahan dasar cangkang kelapa sawit telah dipelajari. Karbon aktif dari tanah gambut dibuat dengan menambahkan KOH 10 M dan dilakukan perendaman pada perbandingan massa 1: 4 antara karbon dengan KOH. Karbon aktif yang dihasilkan dikarakterisasi dengan XRD (X-Ray Difraksi), SEM-EDX (Scanning Elektron Microscopy-Energi Dispersive X - Ray), dan FTIR (Fourier Transform infrared Spektroscopy). Penambahan karbon aktif dari tanah gambut memberikan nilai kapasitansi meningkat menjadi 8063 kali lebih besar pada perbandingan masaa 1: 2 dengan luas luas pelat elektroda 3x3 cm2, konsentrasi elektrolit H3PO4 0,3 N dan waktu pengisian 15 menit. Pencampuran Karbon aktif dari tanah gambut dan cangkang kelapa sawit memiliki kinerja yang baik sebagai bahan elektroda superkapasitor.

Abstract

As people's consumption levels increase, the plastic waste produced increases, so that plastic waste becomes the first environmental problem in Indonesia, especially in Kelurahan Kampung Jua Nan XX, Kecamatan Lubuk Begalung, Padang City. Plastic waste takes a long time to disintegrate and can decompose into microplastics which can be spread into soil and water. The presence of microplastics in soil and water can contaminate plants, shellfish, fish and even salt which ultimately accumulates in the human body through the food chain cycle. Therefore, a solution is needed so that the presence of plastic waste can be handled properly and carried out optimal management. One solution to utilizing plastic waste is by making ecobrick products that are useful and have high selling value and can be a livelihood opportunity. The aim of this activity is to increase public awareness and concern for the environment in order to create a clean and healthy environment through the management and processing of plastic waste. This activity was carried out in kelurahan Kampung Jua on 27 October and 9 December 2022, with the participants in this activity being PKK women from Kampung Jua Nan XX Village. The methods used were education regarding the threat of plastic and microplastic waste and training through demonstrations on making chairs from ecobricks. The results of this activity can increase public awareness of the dangers of plastic waste, limit the use of plastic bags and manage plastic waste at the source as an effort to reduce plastic waste generation and empower the community to maximizing the economic value of existing waste in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Paper waste is the most common waste generated from academic activities on the Andalas University campus. So far, paper waste is allowed to accumulate and then sold by cleaners to waste collectors or burned. This activity aims to increase women's resources and potential through Qulling Paper technology with promising business opportunities, especially for cleaning workers. This activity was carried out from July to September 2022, with the target participants being cleaners with direct contact with paper waste. The method used is counseling about the dangers of paper waste to the environment and health, which ends with discussions and interviews to determine the level of knowledge of cleaning workers about the management and processing of paper waste. The activity continued with paper waste processing training through paper quilling technology by practicing directly until the participants could produce a craft product. Mentoring activities for participants are also carried out by guiding them until they are skilled at producing craft products worth selling. In this training activity, all activity participants can produce handicraft products that have high selling value and are economical. Paper waste processing training for cleaners is one of the most appropriate solutions for reducing the amount of paper waste on the Andalas University campus and, at the same time, improving skills. It is hoped that this activity can increase knowledge and skills and reduce the amount of paper waste in the Andalas University campus environment.

Abstract

Biokarbon dan unsur nitrogen untuk penyimpanan energi kapasitor eleketrokimia telah menjadi salah satu penelitian yang banyak dilakukan karena luas permuakaan yang tinggi dan konduktivitas yang tinggi. Dalam penelitian ini biokarbon aktif berhasil disintesis dengan metode pendekatan karbonisasi sederhana menggunakan batang jagung sebagai prekusor. Biokarbon kemudian didoping nitrogen (amonia atau urea) dengan tujuan meningkatkan kapasitansi spesifik. Biokarbon aktif batang jagung yang didoping dengan amonia dan urea memiliki luas permukaan berturut-turut sebesar 4,6919 m2 g-1 dan 3,7936 m2 g-1, dengan kapasitansi spesifik masing-masing pada penambahan amonia 8,89 F g-1 dan pada penambahan urea sebesar 6,02 F g-1. Biokarbon aktif batang jagung yang didoping amonia dan urea memiliki kinerja yang baik sebagai elektroda kapasitor elektrokimia.

Abstract

Activated carbon from corn stalks (Zea mays L.) has been successfully synthesized by the dehydration method and used as a supercapacitor electrode. Corn stalk powder was dehydrated with 1 MH2SO4 and activated with 5 M NaOH at a carbon and activator mass ratio of 1:4 with a heating temperature of 800°C and an N2 gas heating rate of 10°C/minute for 1 hour. SEM characterization results show that heterogeneous pores have formed on the surface of corn stalk-activated carbon. EDX results showed a carbon percentage of 54.82%; this data is supported by FTIR results, which show several functional groups containing C and O atoms on the surface of activated carbon. Based on desorption adsorption isotherm analysis, the activated carbon shows H4 type with a specific surface area of 117.973m2/g, average pore diameter of 1.730 nm and total pore volume of 0.1021 cm3/g. Measurement of the electrochemical properties of corn stalk activated carbon with a three-electrode system and 3 M KOH electrolyte showed a specific capacitance value of 133.9 F/g, power density 225.2 W/kg and energy density 0.863 Wh/kg. The synthesis of activated carbon through the dehydration method offers advantages in terms of simplicity in preparation, low cost, shorter synthesis time and being environmentally friendly.
