Abstract

A dynamical model called the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) in one dimension (1D) is a widely-held particle hopping model which has developed into a reference model for studying non-equilibrium driven systems in particular transport phenomena. In this study, the TASEP is extended for a case of a junction with two entrances and two exits. The model is specified by a dynamical rule and boundary conditions. The dynamical rule determines the movement of particles and in this case the sequential updating dynamics is applied. The boundary condition used is the open boundary conditions, where particles may enter or exit the lattice sites. The density of the TASEP is governed by a continuity equation, which is solved numerically, such that a phase diagram and the current density profiles are obtained. The result shows that there are ten density phases produced, viz.: low density, high density, coexistence phase, maximal current, low density-low density, high density-high density, high density-maximal current, low density-maximal current, maximal current-high density, and maximal current-low density. The current density is generally constant throughout the lattice sites, except at the junction where a spike occurs. Keywords: current density profile, density profile, open boundary condition, phase diagram, sequential updating dynamics.

Abstract

Renewable energy sources in Indonesia, such as hydropower, are very abundant. However, the utilization of these sources as alternative energy in Indonesia has not been optimized. Education for Environmental Sustainable Development (EESD) approach could be implemented in science education to give students valuable insights into the environment. The form of teaching materials for EESD is the student worksheet. The objective of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of learning using EESD-based student worksheets to improve environmental literacy. This study belonged to the quasi-experiment, and the sample was taken using a cluster sampling technique class. The findings of this research showed that the mean score of the experimental class was greater than the control class, and there was a remarkable difference in environmental literacy between the experimental and control class. Therefore, we could conclude that EESD-based student worksheets are useful to improve students’ environmental literacy.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the thermodynamic properties of the parastatistics system of order two. The thermodynamic properties to be searched include the Grand Canonical Partition Function (GCPF) Z, and the average number of particles N. These parastatistics systems is in a more general form compared to quantum statistical distribution that has been known previously, i.e.: the Fermi-Dirac (FD) and Bose-Einstein (BE). Starting from the recursion relation of grand canonical partition function for parastatistics system of order two that has been known, recuresion linkages for some simple thermodynamic functions for parastatistics system of order two are derived. The recursion linkages are then used to calculate the thermodynamic functions of the model system of identical particles with limited energy levels which is similar to the harmonic oscillator. From these results we concluded that from the Grand Canonical Partition Function (GCPF), Z, the thermodynamics properties of parastatistics system of order two (paraboson and parafermion) can be derived and have similar shape with parastatistics system of order one (Boson and Fermion). The similarity of the graph shows similar thermodynamic properties. Keywords: parastatistics, thermodynamic properties
