Percentage of Bakau vegetation closure was 15.1002%, Nyirih 5.28%, Pidada 4.9812%, Nipah 57.4701%, Behe 17.1665%, and Tuntum 0.0004%. 3). The density of mangrove forest vegetation with 1500 m2 area that is Bakau vegetation which accounted as many as 161 trees, 62 Nyirih trees, 65 Pidada trees, 112 Nipah trees, 95 Behe trees, and 5 Tuntum trees. 4). The pattern of distribution of mangrove forest vegetation at the research location classified to the pattern of stucked distribution. 5). The damage of mangrove forest at the research location classified as moderate damage and 6). The Mapping of mangrove forest damage is show in the form of spatial with the difference of color gradation on the of mangrove forest damage. In addition, it can be concluded that the damage of mangrove forest in the Mandah District of Indragiri Hilir in Riau Province categorized in moderate damage.

Abstract

Indonesia is the second longest coastline in the world and also has the largest area of mangrove forest in the world, besides that Indonesia also has a high diversity of mangrove vegetation in which 61 types of mangrove vegetation of tree species were identified in Indonesia. Mangroves belong to the blue carbon group along with similar seagrasses and coral reefs. Mangrove deforestation is one of the fastest in the world with a 30-50% reduction in mangrove areas in the last 50 years. Thus the rate of loss of carbon potential is also very large considering that mangroves store carbon 5 times greater than tropical rainforests. This study intends to discuss how the condition of mangrove forests in Cawan Island and Bekawan Village in Mandah District to see the type of mangrove vegetation, the amount of cover value and density of mangrove vegetation, as well as biomass value, carbon potential and carbon uptake of mangrove vegetation and see the comparison of values from both villages that is.

Abstract

The Production Forest Management Unit (PFMU) in Dharmasraya is the operational implementing organization of the Forest Service in the field and carries out forest management up to the site level (block / footprint). However, the successful management of the PFMU Dharmasraya cannot be separated from the dynamics of existing problems, such as conflicts between the government and the community around the forest area, the high level of occupation of the forest area by the community and claims of customary rights to the forest area, completion of the boundary process, the lack of good human resources quantity and quality and still weak security guarantees of investing in the PFMU area. The purpose of this study is to analyze the development performance of the Dharmasraya PFMU in the management and implementation of forestry programs at the site level. This study uses criteria and indicators from Forest Watch Indonesia version 2.0. The results showed the value of the development/development PFMU Dharmasraya index was at a moderate level with a value of 2.08. This means that as a forest manager at the site level, PFMU Dharmasraya is quite ready in realizing its functions and duties. Some criteria that need to be considered for improvement are organizational capacity, conflict resolution, investment mechanisms, and stability of the forest management unit area to be strengthened to ensure operation at the site level.

Abstract

This research discusses the function of mangrove ecosystem in the area of Mandeh Koto XII Tarusan South Coast district. Mangrove is a plant that is able to survive in high salinity condition. Mangrove ecosystems that have a high ecological and economic value are equally good with the ability of Carbon Sink four times higher than other primary forests. The absorption of mangrove carbon has a high economic value as a global carbon emissions absorber, so it is necessary to see the valuation of economic value on the existence of mangrove so that we can preserve and protect the existence of mangrove forest for joint prosperity.

Abstract

Determining the economic value of forest rehabilitation activities is important to provide the real value of the resource based on the community's perspective. Meta-analysis of the effectiveness of the economic value approach in forest rehabilitation programs is a systematic review that aims to collect and analyze data from various studies that have been conducted regarding the effectiveness of the economic approach in forest rehabilitation programs. Based on the results of the study, it shows that forest resource economics has a very fundamental position in forest management, without consideration or economic analysis, forest management efficiency is difficult to achieve. Evaluations of forest and land rehabilitation that have been carried out to date are still focused on activity accountability, only using measurements of the percentage of plant life, tree height, and level of health of plants resulting from forest and land rehabilitation, which is not enough to evaluate the total success rate of forest rehabilitation. The need to consider economic aspects as part of the design and strategy of forest rehabilitation projects.

Abstract

Land cover changes in Bengkulu City have significant impacts on carbon stock dynamics, which play a vital role in climate change mitigation. This study aims to analyze carbon stock estimates resulting from land cover changes using remote sensing technology. Landsat and Sentinel-2 satellite imagery data were used to map land cover changes over a specific period, employing a supervised learning-based classification method. Further analysis was conducted to estimate carbon stocks using calculations from the ICLEI Calculator approach. The results of the study indicate a decrease in natural land areas, such as shrubland and mixed dryland agriculture, which declined by 4,236.5 hectares and 3,002.6 hectares, respectively. The conversion of these lands into settlements, plantations, and paddy fields led to a significant decrease in total carbon stocks from 340,095.55 tons in 2014 to 279,033.7 tons in 2024. Additionally, the spatial distribution of carbon stocks in the study area showed patterns correlating with anthropogenic pressures and urban spatial planning policies. The main factors influencing these changes include urbanization, plantation expansion, and land conversion for economic purposes. This study underscores the importance of sustainable land management to prevent ecosystem degradation and support carbon stock enhancement. Conservation efforts, ecosystem rehabilitation, and prudent land-use policies are strategic steps in maintaining carbon balance and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
