Abstract

This research will discuss the narrative of anti-capitalism from the perspective of the Islamic political movement by studying Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia's thoughts on the political-economic system in Indonesia. To date, capitalism has been a topic of global discussion, generating criticism due to various damages and social impacts in different countries. This study explores Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia's approach in responding to the influence of capitalism through the Islamic ideology they stand for. This research employs a qualitative approach by collecting data through documents and literature and analyzing it through a framing approach in social movement studies. The results showed that Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia views capitalism as a system that does not follow Islamic principles and produces injustice, inequality, and oppression against society. Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia presents an alternative Islamic-based political and economic system to solve the problems of capitalism in Indonesia and calls to implement sharia within the framework of an Islamic state or caliphate.

Abstract

Yogyakarta has high spending on capital and personnel expenditures, with the regional financial dependency rate remaining high. This study investigates the impact of capital and personnel expenditures on Yogyakarta's level of regional financial autonomy. This study utilized a quantitative method and analyzed data from all regencies and cities in Yogyakarta between 2015 and 2022. A total of 40 observations were based on a purposive sampling approach and examined using linear regression. The findings indicate that both variables have a significant negative impact on the level of regional financial autonomy. The study results can guide future financial management strategies for the regional government. In addition, this study contributes to the understanding of regional financial autonomy characteristics, particularly in Yogyakarta.

Abstract

The study explores the prospects and possibilities of the application of a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) in Indonesia, which is widely discussed by Bank Indonesia (BI), using a critical approach from an Islamic perspective. As digital payments and technology disruptions radically change people’s behaviour and the way they conduct transactions, the issue is critical to the existing literature and promoting policy. Using a descriptive-qualitative method, the study identifies the existing literature and the implementation challenges in the Indonesian context, further enhanced by incorporating Islamic viewpoints as a core value. The study revealed that cash-like money still dominates the existing currency distribution, and the socio-economy, including the infrastructure in daily transactions, still relies on the traditional monetary system. The implementation of CBDC in the short term remains risky. From an Islamic perspective on the monetary system, Indonesia does not adopt gold and silver standards as underlying assets for currency issuances. It deviates from the Sharia rules and is a core issue for the monetary system.
