Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of fabric safeguards set by the Indonesian government on protecting and improving the competitiveness of the textile industry in the domestic and global markets. Data on exports and imports of 107 HS codes of fabrics subject to additional import duties in 2011-2020 are used to measure Indonesia's competitiveness compared with six major exporting countries. The Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and the Trade Specialization Index (TSI) interpret the Indonesian fabric competitiveness and its competitors. Independent variables of this research are Safeguard Measure Import Duty (BMTP), Most Favoured Nation (MFN) rates, period of investigation, exchange rate, and inflation. The results show that the safeguard, MFN, and period of investigation significantly affect the decline in fabric imports, but other variables have no significant effect. The regime effectively protects Indonesia's textile industry, which is marked by a decrease in the value and volume of imports during the validity period. The RCA indicates that Indonesia does not have a comparative advantage, and according to the TSI, Indonesia is an importing country. BMTP cannot change Indonesia's position as a net exporter and improve its competitiveness. This study implies that it is necessary to increase investment in more efficient production machines with high productivity, optimize the supply chain, reduce production and enterprise costs, and restructure business models; thus, their competitiveness increases in domestic and foreign markets. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of customer satisfaction using the six sigma method which is an approach to reduce process variability through statistical tools. Industry 4.0 brings its own challenges for telecommunication providers. In the Industrial Era 4.0, which is marked by the integration between machine systems and smart internet, making dependence on telecommunication providers increases. Industrial companies currently compete in offering products in the form of goods or services in order to attract consumers' interest, as well as the telecommunications industry such as Indosat and Telkomsel. In recent years, providers from Indosat and Telkomsel have been in the top two rankings in terms of number of subscribers and profit generated. The highest DPMO value obtained from the Assurance dimension with a satisfaction target of 6. The results of the Assurance dimension DPMO for Indosat providers are 243.333.33 and Telkomsel providers are 224.166.67 and are at level 2 sigma. These results are still far from the expected target of 3.4 DPMO and 6-sigma

Abstract

Abstract

The textile industry is one of the strategic sectors in Indonesia's economy, with great potential to attract investment. However, the dependency on imported raw materials has become a major obstacle in enhancing the competitiveness of this industry. This study aims to analyze strategies for increasing investment in the textile sector through strengthening the upstream industry and managing local raw materials. The research method used is a literature review with a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis, utilizing data from Google Scholar from 2012 to 2025. Out of 30 initial articles found, only 17 were selected based on strict criteria. The findings show that strengthening the upstream industry through increased local raw material production, the development of alternative fiber innovations, and the implementation of investment incentive policies can enhance the self-sufficiency of the textile sector and reduce dependency on imports. Various case studies discussed show that investment in research and development (R&D), the development of textile industrial zones, and the implementation of a circular economy can improve production efficiency and global competitiveness. The implications of this study include the enhancement of national textile industry resilience, job creation, and strengthening sustainable policies in managing local raw materials. Therefore, support from the government, industry players, and academics is needed to implement appropriate strategies to strengthen the upstream industry and attract investment in the textile sector.
