Abstract

This research analyzes the communication experiences of women in top management positions at PT. Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR), with a focus on the role of communication, challenges and its impact on the organization. Using a phenomenological approach, this research explores the motives behind career women's decisions, namely parental encouragement, determination, opportunity, as well as proof, economics and social status. The research results show that women's interpretation of leaders includes aspects of being nurturing, wise, and inspiring, with self-concepts divided into three categories: tough, ambitious, and friendly. Their communication experiences are divided into two categories, namely pleasant communication obtained from family, community and work support, and unpleasant communication due to busyness which reduces time with family. This research provides insight into the contribution of women in leadership in the oil and gas sector and the importance of effective and collaborative communication in facing challenges..

Abstract

Character has a crucial role in maintaining the existence of a nation in the eyes of the world. Even though efforts have been made to instill the values of character education, the hope that young students from among students have good emotional intelligence is actually broken by deviant phenomena that still often occur. Responding that more efforts are needed beyond formal education in instilling character education values, this progressive era has paved the way for students to easily recognize and absorb character education values from various media. Novel is part of literature which also aims to educate people's lives. One novel that contains character education values and is considered to have a positive impact on instilling character values among adolescents is the novel Merindu Cahaya de Amstel by Arumi Ekowati. This type of research is library research (library research). The data collection technique that the authors use in this study uses the documentation method. The results of this study indicate that in the novel Merindu Cahaya de Amstel there are values of character education including religious values, fond of reading, independence, hard work, creativity, and tolerance. The relevance of character education values in the lives of today's youth can be found in family, school and community life.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has occurred across the world. This causes all segments of human life to be disturbed including the education sector. The teaching and learning process tends to run ineffectively and should be done online. Online learning offers a learning process that can be done not only in the classroom but anywhere and anytime. One of the applications that can be used is Google classroom. This study aims to determine students' perceptions and problems in learning English using Google Classroom during the Covid-19 Pandemic at SMAN 6 Kota Bengkulu. This research was a mixed-method research involving 443 students in the academic year of 2020/2021. The data were collected using a questionnaire in the form of a Google form consisting of 50 questions with 4 answer choices, namely strongly agree, agree, disagree, and strongly disagree, and semi-structured interviews. The data obtained were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results of this research indicate that the students have a positive perception in learning English using Google classrooms during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMAN 6 Kota Bengkulu with the average score obtained was 1160 and was in the positive category. Moreover, the data obtained from the interview showed that most of the students experienced problems in learning English skills using Google classroom caused by lack of vocabulary. In addition, the problems in using the Google classroom application were in the opening and uploading files or videos. These findings are expected that the teachers should change their teaching habits by offering students innovative opportunities to improve their self-confidence, to control their learning, and to practice their language skills. The students should be more creative to solve the problems during learning English by using Google classroom even in the online process or not.
