Abstract

Abstract One way to improve the quality of the pavement is to use polymer modified asphalt. Natural rubber is a polymer type of elastomer with a relatively cheap price. As a producer of natural rubber, Indonesia needs to look for alternative uses of natural rubber, including use as a material modification of asphalt. This study was conducted by making 4 types of modified asphalt with Natural Latex KKK 60, each with a proportion of latex added of 0 %, 1 %, 3 %, and 5 %. Furthermore, the rheological properties of modified bitumen were tested using the tool Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) on fresh asphalt conditions, after short-term aging, and after long-term aging. The results showed that the addition of Natural Latex KKK 60 can improve the rheological properties of asphalt so that the asphalt becomes more elastic, more rigid, more resistant to rutting, and more resistant to cracking. However, the increase in rheological properties after short-term aging relatively is less due to the breakdown of the natural latex polymer molecule chains. Keywords: asphalt, modified asphalt, natural latex, rheology  Abstrak Salah satu cara untuk meningkatkan kualitas perkerasan jalan adalah dengan menggunakan aspal modifikasi polimer. Karet alam merupakan polimer jenis elastomer dengan harga yang relatif murah. Sebagai produsen karet alam, Indonesia perlu mencari alternatif pemanfaatan karet alam tersebut, termasuk memanfaatkannya sebagai bahan modifikasi aspal. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membuat 4 jenis aspal yang dimodifikasi Lateks Alam KKK 60, yang masing-masing dengan proporsi lateks yang ditambahkan 0 %, 1 %, 3 %, dan 5 %. Selanjutnya, sifat reologi aspal yang dimodifikasi tersebut diuji dengan menggunakan alat Dynamic Shear Rheometer (DSR) pada kondisi aspal fresh, setelah penuaan jangka pendek, dan setelah penuaan jangka panjang. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penambahan Lateks Alam KKK 60 dapat meningkatkan reologi aspal sehingga lebih elastis, lebih kaku, lebih tahan terhadap rutting, dan lebih tahan terhadap retak. Namun peningkatan sifat reologi setelah mengalami penuaan jangka pendek relatif lebih sedikit karena kemungkinan terjadi pemecahan rantai molekul polimer lateks alam. Kata-kata kunci: aspal, aspal modifikasi, lateks alam, reologi

Abstract

Abstract

The amount of waste thrown away by the community in Garut Regency reaches thousands of tons per day, on the other hand, the capacity at the Pasir Bajing landfill is very limited. Various types of waste, including plastic waste, can be utilized and processed so that they have useful value. The Regional Government of Garut Regency has innovated by using waste in the form of plastic as aggregate mixed with asphalt called plastic asphalt as a flexible road construction material. This is an effort to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the use of road construction in the Garut Regency area. The aim of this research is to determine and analyze the preferences of service providers, both contractors and supervisory consultants, regarding the implementation of the policy of using plastic asphalt as a road construction material in Garut Regency. The research method uses quantitative descriptive methods. The sample consisted of 100 people consisting of contractors and supervisory consultants involved in the implementation of plastic asphalt in Garut Regency. The results of the analysis of product quality, satisfaction with use, and implementation of policies on the use of plastic asphalt are good and need to be maintained.

Abstract

Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan konsumsi domestik karet alam dalam rangka untuk mendongkrak harga karet alam adalah penerapan teknologi aspal karet. Jenis karet alam yang dapat digunakan untuk aditif aspal adalah lateks pekat dan karet padat. Kajian tentang kesiapan penerapan teknologi aspal karet sangatlah penting karena dapat digunakan oleh pemerintah dalam menentukan arah kebijakan penerapan aspal karet di Indonesia. Berdasarkan kajian literatur dan wawancara dengan para peneliti dan praktisi dari produsen aspal karet, dengan menggunakan perangkat pengukuran Tingkat Kesiapan Teknologi (TKT) maka tampak bahwa kesiapan teknologi aspal karet berbasis lateks pravulkanisasi mencapai TKT 9 yang artinya telah siap untuk diterapkan berdasarkan atas berbagai pertimbangan. Sementara untuk penerapan teknologi aspal karet berbasis karet padat yang telah diolah menjadi vulkanisat karet alam masih pada TKT 6. Dengan demikian upaya untuk melaksanakan penelitian dan pengembangan teknologi aspal karet padat masih sangat dibutuhkan. Beberapa hal yang perlu dilakukan untuk penelitian lebih lanjut adalah terkait formulasi dan proses pengolahan karet alam padat Standard Indonesian Rubber (SIR) 20 yang mudah dicampurkan dalam aspal dan menghasilkan mutu aspal karet yang terbaik.

Abstract

Experimental innovations on concrete have been carried out by researchers, both chemical and physical, with the aim of improving the quality of concrete. One of the additional material options used that is physical is steel wire. The aim of adding steel wire is to optimize the quality of the concrete, both tensile and compressive strength. The method used in the following research is experimental by adding steel wire to the SCC concrete mixture with variations of 4%, 6% and 8%. As for the addition of chemical substances, the superplasticizer admixture aims to make it easier for SCC concrete to reach slump values. Based on the results of the split tensile and compressive strength tests of concrete after 28 days of age, it was found that the maximum compression test score was SCC concrete with a mixture of 8% steel wire with a compressive strength value of 20.36 MPa. Meanwhile, the maximum split tensile strength test results for SCC concrete were in concrete mixed with 8% steel wire with a split tensile strength value of 3.36 MPa.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Pada umumnya aspal terdiri dari berbagai jenis senyawa hidrokarbon yang diantaranya jenis basa nitrogen. Menurut Rostler (1959)senyawa basa nitrogen ini adalah bagian dari aspal yang larut dalam pelarut parafin normal dengan berat molekul ringan seperti normal pentana (n-pentana) tetapi menjadi tidak larut setelah ditambahkan ke dalam larutan tersebut larutan asam sulfat 85%. Kandungan basa nitrogen dalam aspal sangat penting karena berfungsi sebagai bahan anti pengelupasan (anti-stripping agent) yang meningkatkan daya lekat aspal pada agregat. Tetapi, menurut Boyer (2000) dan Petersen (2009) basa nitrogen adalah senyawa komponen aspal yang memiliki kereaktifan tinggi sehingga mudah mengalami penuaan. Untuk lebih memahami fenomena ini maka pada tulisan ini akan disampaikan hasil kajian pengaruh senyawa basa nitrogen terhadap sifat reologi aspal termasuk sifat reologi setelah mengalami penuaan. Berdasarkan analisis kimia metode Rostler, senyawa basa nitrogen tidak dapat diekstrak dalam keadaan utuh. Oleh karena itu, pengakajian terhadap pengaruh senyawa basa nitrogen dilakukan dengan cara menghitung perbedaan pengaruh antara pengaruh malten (bagian aspal yang berbentuk cair dan masih mengandung senyawa basa nitrogen) dengan pengaruh malten yang sudah direaksikan dengan asam sulfat 85% (untuk menghilangkan senyawa basa nitrogen) terhadap sifat reologi aspal. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa makin tinggi kandungan basa nitrogen maka sifat reologi aspal asli dan setelah penuaan jangka pendek akan makin rendah, namun sifat reologi aspal setelah penuaan jangka panjang lebih tinggi dari sifat reologi aspal asli dan setelah penuaan jangka pendek.Impikasinya apa? Kata kunci:Basa nitrogen, Aspal, Reologi, penuaan jangka pendek, penuaan jangka panjang.  ABSTRACT Commonly, asphalt consists of various types of hydrocarbon molecules including nitrogen base.According to Rostler, nitrogen bases is a part of bitumen that soluble in low molecular weight of normal paraffins but insoluble after treated by 85% sulfuric acid. This part is very important because it can act as a bitumen anti striping to increase the bitumen adhesion. However, nitrogen bases is a bitumen component of highly reactive resins (Boyer, 2000; Petersen, 2009). It is easy to age. This paper presents the investigation of the effect of nitrogen bases component on bitumen rheology and ageing. The effect of nitrogen bases was calculated from the difference of the effect of extracted malthenes which consisted of nitrogen bases with the effect of extracted malthenes which the nitrogen bases was removed. The results showed that increasing nitrogen bases reduced the rheology of non-aged and short-term aged bitumen. However, after long-term aged the bitumen rheology became higher than non-aged and short-term aged conditions. Keywords: Nitrogen Bases, Asphalt, Rheology, Short-term aging, Long-term aging.

Abstract

Coffee skin waste is waste obtained from the coffee fruit management process. Piling up coffee skin waste can pollute the environment, but it contains cellulose that can absorb water. This research aims to analyze the effect of the addition of coffee skin powder waste on the physical properties of clay soil in order to improve its quality as a construction and geotechnical material. The research method used experimental tests on the physical properties of clay soil, including moisture content, sieve analysis, content weight, specific gravity, and Atterberg limits. The variation of the addition of coffee skin powder waste was 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% of the soil weight. The results showed that the addition of coffee husk waste caused a decrease in moisture content from 64% to 44.89%, content weight from 1.185 grams/cm3 to 0.677 grams/cm3, and soil specific gravity from 2.6 to 2.28. The plasticity index value also decreased from 26.68 to 18.15, indicating an improvement in soil characteristics. In addition, the proportion of fine grains decreased, while coarse grains increased based on sieve analysis. These results are useful in the geotechnical field to improve soil stability and reduce its plasticity, and in the construction field to improve the bearing capacity of subgrade soils, so they have the potential to be applied in various civil and environmental engineering projects.
