Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the consistency and suitability of the implementation of the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH) in bakery MSMEs based on the Halal Product Assurance System (HAS) regulations in Indonesia, with an emphasis on environmental impacts and operational sustainability. Methodology: The research method used is qualitative descriptive observational. Results: The results of this study indicate that Rumah Roti UMKM has met 10 of the 11 criteria in the Halal Product Assurance System (SJPH), However, there is one criterion that has not been met, namely internal audit. Rumah Roti only conducts an internal audit once a year, which is considered insufficient to ensure compliance with halal standards and environmentally friendly practices consistently. Overall, although Rumah Roti has been quite good at implementing SJPH, improvements in internal audits are needed so that halal compliance and sustainability can be better maintained in the long term. Applications/Originality/Value: This study not only analyzes the implementation of the Halal Product Assurance System (HAS) in bakery MSMEs, but also emphasizes the environmental impact and operational sustainability. The focus on environmental aspects in halal certification is still rarely studied in the context of food MSMEs in Indonesia.

Abstract

2000 times of downtime had been occurred during year 2013 to 2014 in Tjoekir sugar factory. The most serious downtime occurred in mill. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) was employed to analyze the probability score and implement Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to find out impact score of risk event. The results of FTA indicate that risk event in cane cutter blade had the highest probability score, while results of AHP shows that the decrease of steam pressure in turbine drive had the highest impact score. The scores classified in risk class and mapped in risk matrix show that there were three risk events. Tjoekir has to set a conveyor gate to filter canes before being received by the machine, use blades with the thickness not exceed 22 cm to avoid fatigue, and check harvested cane thoroughly that is loaded onto carriers to ensure no machete is accidently loaded with the cane.

Abstract

Tadukan Raga Village in Deli Serdang Regency has significant potential in utilizing agricultural wood waste as a renewable energy source. This community service program aims to develop appropriate technology in the form of a briquette press unit and an Eco-Waste Stove biomass cooker. The implementation methods included field surveys, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), socialization, training, and community mentoring. Wood waste was processed through pre-treatment, mixing with adhesive, pressing, and drying to produce high-quality briquettes. These briquettes were then used as fuel for the Eco-Waste Stove, which was designed to be more efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective compared to traditional combustion. The results showed improved community knowledge, skills, and participation in transforming wood waste into alternative energy. This program not only reduces agricultural waste but also supports circular economy practices, enhances local income, and strengthens rural energy resilience. With continuous support, this technology has strong potential to be replicated in other regions.
