Abstract

The use of paper is increasing from time to time. If not handled properly it will have an impact on the surrounding environment. One way that can reduce the impact to the environment is to recycle the paper waste into a handicraft product that has economic value. Based on this background, a training for community is needed to educate on how to process used paper into valuable handicraft products. This education must be instilled from an early age, so that children begin to understand that by properly processing waste paper, they can produce something of value that will have an impact on increasing income. This training was carried out at the Al-Kahfi Medan Foundation. The object (target audience) of this community service is the children at the Al-Kahfi Medan Foundation. Children at the Al-Kahfi Medan Foundation do not yet know that used paper can be processed into valuable handicraft products, so a socialisation is needed for them. Children will be given training and trained to be able to process used paper into handicraft products and then be able to market and sell it. After being given this training, it is expected that the mindset of the children at the Al-Kahfi Medan Foundation can change from before, namely waste paper waste, with proper handling can become a valuable handicraft product. The method that will be carried out in this community service is to provide training and also practices and then a trial is carried out so that the children at the Al-Kahfi Medan Foundation can understand the mechanism of processing the used paper into handcraft products.

Abstract

Abstract

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) play an important role in most developing countries. In line with emerging markets, this is the right time for the empowerment of SMEs in the Halal Industry as it not only contributes to the growth of the national economy but most significantly is the way forward to create jobs for students who graduate from Halal knowledge. It was found that SMEs can develop, promote and maintain their business in the global halal market if the business excellence model can be adopted as a way to improve their SME business. Halal SMEs should be designed in line with the “business excellence concept” and “benchmark concept”. Halal-entrepreneurs must apply these concepts seriously in the business and market of the halal industry because the sector develops from time to time, especially in the Halal Food Industry, Pharmaceutical and Health Products, Halal Cosmetics, Halal Tourism and Travel, Halal Audit and Consulting

Abstract

Most of the Besar II Terjun Village residents live in agriculture. So far, people still use conventional methods to separate rice by hitting the harvested rice. In this community service activity, a rice threshing machine was designed. The rice thresher machine has power = 5.5 HP with engine type = Air Cooled 4 Stroke OHV Single Cylinder; maximum torque = 1.1 Kg.m / 3600 rpm; and maximum output = 4 KW / 4000 rpm. This machine has a capacity of 300 kg/minute. This community service activity aims to help the Sukapura Village community maximize its potential and provide insight for SMEs regarding effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, and safety in carrying out the catfish production process. The methods used include observation methods to determine the needs of SMEs for processed catfish food, design methods, presentation methods, and discussion methods as a form of assistance in starting a catfish product processing business.

Abstract

Abstract

Traditional fishermen are fishermen who catch fish in waters which are traditional fishing rights that have been used for generations by local culture and wisdom. Fish is a marine product that is easily damaged or perishable, and this is due to enzymatic activity in the fish's body and the activity of microorganisms due to wrong handling. The cities of Medan and Deli Serdang are areas that have good potential for marine products. Enjoying fish products from the sea by consumers, fish distribution was carried out at Belawan Port, precisely at Belawan Ocean Fisheries Port and Fish Auction Place Bagan Percut, Deli Serdang. This study looks at the supply chain or supply chain for traditional fishermen in the North Sumatra region, especially in Medan City and Deli Serdang Regency. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. The results of the study found that the supply chain of most fishermen caught in Bagan Deli through agents and distributors of fish was then brought to the market or auction place. There are also fishermen in Bagan Deli who directly sell their catch at the local market where the fishing group is located, namely the Bagan Deli and Belawan Traditional Markets. Meanwhile, Bagan Percut of Deli Serdang Regency shows that the role of fish agents and distributors in the supply chain of capture fishermen is very influential. Through these fish agents and distributors, distribution channels can be determined based on the amount or amount of fish caught.

Abstract

This research was conducted at a company engaged in the precast concrete industry. The company produces and distributes piling products both domestically and abroad. The quality of pile products made by the company is one of the considerations of consumers. For this reason, the company must provide the best quality by utilizing all production factors as efficiently as possible. This is done to maintain consumer confidence and reduce the number of products that must meet company standards. This research aims to find the leading cause of defects in pile products. The method used is failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA). The FMEA method will look at the factors that cause defects based on the highest risk priority number (RPN). From the research results obtained, four factors cause defects in pile products, namely human factors, machine factors, material factors and method factors. Based on calculating the priority risk value in the FMEA method, the RPN value results are Machine Factors of 192, Material Factors of 180, Human Factors of 120, and Method Factors of 75. The factor causing the highest pile product defects is the machine factor, with an RPN value of 192. Based on this, it is known that the spinning machine used is too old and many machine components need to be replaced, so the proposed improvements given are to carry out regular and scheduled machine checks and maintenance and immediately repair or replace damaged machine components.
