Abstract

Widespread bacterial resistance has led to more difficult to treat infectious diseases with availableantibiotics. Therefore, new antibiotics are needed face of the growing antibiotic resistance. Swieteniamahagoni (L.) Jacq. is one of potential medicinal plants as a source new antibiotics. Five compoundshave been isolated from an ethanolic extract of S. mahagoni (L.) Jacq., however its antimicrobialactivity has not been investigated, yet. This study was conducted to evaluate the antimicrobialactivity of these compounds. Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimal BactericidalConcentration (MBC) were determined against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosastrains. Among five compounds tested, compound 3 (3,4,5,6,7-pentaethyl-1-methoxy-1H-indazole)and compound 4 (5-ethyl-6-methoxymethyl-2-methyl-1,2-dihydropyridine) were found to be activeagainst the bactrial strains tested with the MICs and MBCs values ranged from 50 to 100 μg/mL. Inconclusion, among five compounds isolated from S. mahagoni (L.) Jacq., compound 3 and 4showed moderate antimicrobial activity against S. aureus and P. aeruginosa strains.

Abstract

Abstract Until the end of 2015, Indonesia had the opportunity to fail to achieve the MDG targets. The MDG target for the Maternal Mortality Rate in 2015 was 102 per 100,000 births. This optimism was reconsidered after seeing the results of 2012 which experienced a significant increase of 359 per 100,000 births. Births in Muara Rapak Village area in 2016 were 598 live births and 2 born deads. A total of 597 births were helped in health facilities and 3 births were assisted by Traditional Birth Attendants / at home. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of family income, birth costs, access to information, participation in National Health Insurance, with the selection of places of birth in Muara Rapak Village, Balikpapan Town. This study used a cross sectional design. The data collection technique was accidental sampling with a sample of 92 mothers who brought infants to visit the Muara Rapak Health Center, from October to November 2018. Data analysis techniques used bivariate data analysis with Chi Square test, p_value> α (0.05) concluded there was no relationship between variables. There were 79.3% of respondents choosing the place of birth at the hospital, 10.9% of respondents choosing the place of birth the maternity clinic, 6.5% choosing the place of birth at the Independent Practice Midwife, and 3.3% of respondents choosing the place of birth by Traditional Birth Attendants / at home. The results of statistical tests, for family income variables the value of p = 0.967, for birth of costs the value of p = 0.496, for access to information the value of p = 0.867, which means the value of p> 0.05, and for participation in National Health Insurance the value of p = 0.001 < 0.05. There is no relationship between family income, birth of costs, access to information, with the choice of place of birth. But between the participation of the National Health Insurance and the choice of place of birth, there is a relationship. Keywords: Income, costs, access to information, NHI, place of birth Abstract Hingga akhir tahun 2015, Indonesia berpeluang gagal mencapai sasaran–sasaran MDGs.Target MDG’s untuk Angka Kematian Ibu tahun 2015 adalah sebesar 102 per 100.000 Kelahiran Hidup. Keywords: Pendapatan, biaya persalinan, akses informasi, JKN, tempat persalinan

Abstract

HIV/AIDS remains a critical global health threat, particularly among adolescents. Low levels of knowledge, attitudes, and preventive practices may increase transmission risks. This study aimed to analyze the level of knowledge, attitudes, and factors influencing HIV/AIDS prevention among students at STIKES Al Ma’arif Baturaja, considering their role as future healthcare professionals. A descriptive survey design was employed, with a sample of 76 students selected via proportional random sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed descriptively to outline age, gender, knowledge, attitudes, and preventive practices. Most respondents were 18 years old (52.6%) and female (89.5%). The highest knowledge level was categorized as “moderate” (43.4%), while 77.6% exhibited “positive” attitudes toward prevention. A total of 72.4% actively engaged in preventive measures, such as using protective tools and avoiding risk behaviors. However, a gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation was observed, potentially influenced by external factors (environmental stigma, limited information access). Despite generally positive attitudes and preventive practices, suboptimal knowledge underscores the need for community-based education programs, skill-building training, and anti-stigma campaigns. Collaboration between educational institutions, health agencies, and community organizations is recommended to strengthen holistic HIV/AIDS prevention efforts.

Abstract

The first day after delivery is when the breasts become overfilled with milk, causing them to become swollen, hard and painful. Breast care is an action to take care of the breasts to prevent the occurrence of breast milk dams, reduce pain and discomfort, prevent more serious complications, maintain breast milk production, prevent early termination of breastfeeding breast milk. The purpose of this case study is to provide nursing care to post partum mothers with the problem of ineffective breastfeeding with the application of Breast Care.  The research method used is a case study of 2 patients with post partum by applying the nursing process method: Interview, examination, observation of activities to obtain diagnostic records and reports. After taking nursing action for 3 days with a diagnosis: ineffectiveness of breastfeeding associated with breast swelling. with the application of breast care with the results resolved on day 4. breast discomfort has decreased after breast care, there is no dam or swelling in the mother's breast, there is no dam or swelling in the mother's breast, feeling more relieved and relaxed after breast care is performed. The application of breast care in both post partum patients can reduce breast swelling due to breast milk dams. Researchers suggest that patients can apply breast care as one of the treatments that can be done alone at home, because one of the benefits of breast care is to reduce breast swelling.
