Abstract

Stunting is a condition where a child experiences growth disorders, so that the child's height does not correspond to his age, as a result of chronic nutritional problems, namely lack of nutritional intake for a long time (Ministry of Health, 2020). The results of the 2018 Regional Health Research (Riskesdas 2018) show that toddlers in Indonesia aged 0-23 months still experience shortness of breath or very shortness of breath. This shows that there is a bright spot in the implementation of intervention programs in accelerating the reduction of stunting rates which cannot be separated from the cooperation of every existing element. The difference in the average knowledge of pre- and post-education cadres providing education to improve care for low birth weight babies was obtained by a mean pre-education value of 2.60 and a mean post-education value of 1.40. The standard deviation value for pre-training is 0.308 and post-training is 0.40. The Wilcoxon z value is -4.102. The statistical test results of the Wilcoxon signed rank test obtained a value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between before and after training in cadres' knowledge about early detection of stunting in toddlers. The community service program to assist families at risk of stunting is a new breakthrough in determining effective and integrated, community-based strategies to reduce the risk of stunting.

Abstract

Pain can provide a peripheral vasoconstriction response which causes blood pressure and pulse to rise. Providing relaxation to post-operative patients can reduce post-operative pain. Relaxation education often proves effective in reducing pain levels in post-operative patients. Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, and visualization can help reduce the physical and emotional tension that is often associated with pain. Apart from reducing physical pain, relaxation education can also improve the patient's psychological well-being. Patients can feel calmer, better able to deal with stress, and better able to control reactions to pain. By reducing pain levels, patients may require smaller amounts of pain medication or may not need medication at all. This can reduce the risk of side effects from painkillers and speed up the patient's recovery. By reducing pain and stress levels, relaxation education can help speed up the recovery process for post-operative patients. After this community service activity, patients feel more comfortable and are better able to move, which can help reduce the risk of post-operative complications.

Abstract

Intestinal sound is produced by muscle movements in the digestive tract. The return of intestinal sound after surgery is an important indicator for patients to return to eating and drinking normally. This study aimed to determine whether the administration of laxatives before surgery can speed up the recovery of intestinal sound in patients undergoing surgery with general anesthesia. The study involved 30 patients divided into two groups: a laxative group and a control group. The laxative group received laxatives before surgery, while the control group did not. Intestinal sound recovery time was measured in both groups. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling with the Mann Whitney statistical test. The results showed that the administration of laxatives before surgery had a significant effect on intestinal sound recovery time in postoperative patients under general anesthesia (p < 0.05). The laxative group showed faster recovery of intestinal sound than the control group. From this study it can be concluded that the administration of pre-operative laxatives can be beneficial for postoperative patients under general anesthesia to accelerate the recovery of bowel function. So that suggestions to the next researcher are advised to conduct research respondents who are given more varied laxatives

Abstract

Impaired gas exchange due to decreased lung function can inhibit the process of eliminating inhaled anesthetic substances through pulmonary exhalation. Smoking causes changes in the structure, function of the respiratory tract and lung parenchymal tissue, resulting in a decrease in lung physiology. This study aims to determine the relationship between postoperative respiratory recovery time and general anesthesia between smoking and non-smoking patients. The research design used is a comparative study with a cross sectional approach using purposive sampling techniques. Respondents totaled 30 people and were divided into 2 groups. Research analysis used the Mann-Whitney test with a=0.05. The average breathing recovery time for smokers is 2 minutes and 1 minute for non-smokers. Statistical test results showed that there was no difference in respiratory recovery time between smoking and non-smoking patients with p-value=0.550. Recommendations for future researchers to continue this research with more homogeneous respondents

Abstract

Toddlers are the age group most often and prone to suffering from malnutrition or malnutrition. One of the causes of high malnutrition is the lack of public awareness in health care, especially mothers for their toddlers and monotonous counseling methods. One way to improve toddler health care can be done by providing education to mothers with various models, one of which is using the Health Belief Model approach. Education with the Health Belief Model approach provides a strong relevance between health education and behavior change. Abstract

Background. Primary dysmenorrhea, characterized by cramping pain during menstruation, significantly affects adolescents' quality of life. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of progressive relaxation exercise and aromatherapy on pain intensity in female adolescents with primary dysmenorrhea. ResearchMethod. A total of 64 participants were divided into four groups: progressive relaxation, aromatherapy, combination therapy, and control. The research method used is a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. This study employs the Paired T-Test on the third treatment group, and the NGain-Score test is used to determine which independent variable is more closely related to the dependent variable. Findings. Statistical analysis showed significant reductions in pain intensity in all experimental groups (p = 0.000), with the combination therapy demonstrating the highest effectiveness (NGain-Score: 0.7571). Aromatherapy, particularly with lavender, and progressive relaxation exercises effectively reduced physical discomfort and psychological stress associated with dysmenorrhea. The findings suggest that non-pharmacological interventions, especially when combined, are effective in managing dysmenorrhea. Conclusion. Integrating progressive relaxation exercise and aromatherapy is a promising approach for alleviating primary dysmenorrhea pain in adolescents, offering a safe and natural alternative to conventional pain management.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in children is an urgent global health issue, along with changes in the lifestyle of elementary school-age children who tend to be sedentary and have unhealthy diets. This study aims to find out the overview and analyze the risk factors for DM incidence in grades 2–4 at SDN Tasikmadu 1 Malang City. The design of this study is descriptive quantitative with data collection techniques through Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), PAQ-C for physical activity, and FINDRISC scores, as well as BMI measurements in 100 respondents. The results showed that 57% of students were obese, 44% often ate fast food and high in sugar, and 100% had screen time >2 hours per day. The physical activity carried out tends to be irregular and lacks intensity. This study concluded that unhealthy diet, sedentary lifestyle, and over-nutrition status were dominant factors in increasing the risk of type 2 DM in children. These findings emphasize the importance of school-based interventions and parental involvement in creating an environment that supports a child's healthy lifestyle. Furthermore, the results provide an evidence-based foundation for integrating early screening using the FINDRISC tool into school health programs. Such integration, when combined with targeted nutrition and physical activity interventions, has the potential to reduce the long-term incidence of type 2 DM among children, particularly in urban areas such as Malang. Further research is recommended using analytical methods and clinical measurements to strengthen the validity of the results.
