Abstract

Gout arthritis causes many complaints, especially among the elderly, such as joint pain. Gout pain is caused by a buildup of uric acid crystals in the joints. It is hoped that non-pharmacological warm compress therapy can be an alternative in reducing joint pain in gout sufferers. This research uses a descriptive case study method with 2 research subjects on February 26 2024-March 10 2024. Data collection uses structured observation and interview techniques and is presented in the form of tables, graphs and narratives. The research results for subject 1 before applying a warm compress showed pain intensity on a scale of 6 (much more grimacing) and subject 2 obtained a scale of 6 (much more grinning). Meanwhile, after applying a warm compress to subject 2, the result was scale 2 (flat face) and subject 2 received scale 4 (slightly grinning). Recommendations for further research include choosing a different gender of research subjects so that the differences in pain intensity felt between men and women can be known and giving warm compresses for longer periods so that the results of the development of research subjects' pain intensity are maximized.

Abstract

Elderly people who experience sleep disorders are at risk of various health problems, including hypertension. To treat insomnia comprehensively, an approach that not only relies on medication is needed, but also complementary therapies, one of which is brainwave music therapy. This music therapy can stimulate the brain to follow the vibrations and rhythms of music when individuals are in a resting state, so as to bring them into a relaxed state and make it easier to fall asleep. This study aims to analyse the effect of brainwave music therapy on the level of insomnia in elderly hypertension. The research design used a descriptive case study approach involving two hypertensive elderly subjects who experienced sleep disorders. Music therapy was performed six times with a duration of 10-15 minutes. Data were collected through insomnia scale and observation. The results showed a decrease in the level of insomnia in both subjects after undergoing brainwave music therapy. Subjects who initially experienced severe insomnia decreased to mild insomnia. This indicates that brainwave music therapy has the potential to be an effective non-pharmacological intervention in reducing insomnia symptoms in hypertensive elderly

Abstract

Malnutrition that occurs in infants can be fatal, which can inhibit growth and development and can even occur in the long term. The age period of 6-24 months in children is the golden period for complementary feeding, because this is the critical phase for providing interventions related to child nutrition. Mothers' ability to provide complementary feeding is very important to prevent nutritional problems in children. This study aims to determine the ability of mothers to provide complementary food after being given education. This study used a descriptive case study method conducted on two mothers who acted as research subjects. Data collection in the study was carried out through interviews, questionnaires, and observations, namely before and after being given education. The results of this study showed that before education, the ability of the two research subjects was still lacking in aspects of knowledge, attitudes and actions related to complementary feeding. After being given education, there was a significant increase in all three aspects. The conclusion that can be drawn from the study is that education is proven to be effective in improving mothers' ability to provide complementary foods. Subjects are expected to consistently apply the knowledge that has been obtained related to complementary feeding properly and correctly. Future research is expected to develop a more in-depth observation method to examine mothers' ability to provide complementary foods, including the process of preparing, making, serving, and feeding complementary foods.

Abstract

Development at preschool age is a basic stage that influences subsequent development, at this time children often experience delays in fine motor development, the impact that often occurs is a lack of stimulation so that children experience obstacles in the learning process at school. One game that improves fine motor development is puzzles. The aim of this research is to identify fine motor development after being given a puzzle game. This research uses a descriptive observational case study on 2 subjects using a modified KPSP observation sheet. The research results before being given the puzzle subject 1 were moderate (10) subject 2 was poor (8) after being given the puzzle both subjects were good (21) and (19). It is recommended that both subjects optimize puzzle games to improve their fine motor development. For future researchers, it is recommended to condition puzzle games simultaneously and not to stimulate separately and it is recommended to involve parents and teachers in conducting research.
