Abstract

Self-efficacy is recognized as a crucial factor in student learning engagement. In several recent studies on student learning engagement, self-efficacy has shown a positive relationship with it, indicating significant research interest in self-efficacy. Additionally, there has yet to be a bibliometric analysis of self-efficacy and student learning engagement in the past decade. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis and explore the current research landscape on self-efficacy from 2014 to 2023. The research database used for this study is from dimensions.ai. VosViewer is employed for bibliometric analysis and scientific mapping of publications, countries, journals, authors, and terms and keywords. Ninety countries have produced at least five documents each in this research field, with the USA leading in the highest number of publications, followed by China in the second position. Among journals, Nurse Education Today (n = 2890) has the highest citation rate, followed by Frontiers in Psychology (n = 2512). Key terms in research on self-efficacy and student learning engagement include motivation, engagement, anxiety, academic performance, university student, academic efficacy, burnout, student engagement, life satisfaction, academic procrastination, and teacher support. The literature volume on self-efficacy has experienced growth over the past ten years and is expected to continue to increase. The field of study has also become more refined. This bibliometric analysis provides substantial support for understanding the evolving trends in self-efficacy and student engagement research.

Abstract

This study analyzes education policy in Indonesia, focusing on the National Education Standards, the Independent Curriculum, and two innovative approaches to Islamic Religious Education, as: the Love Curriculum and Eco-Theology. The study was conducted through qualitative, library-based research, utilizing primary sources in the form of official regulations, policy documents, and educational guidelines, as well as secondary sources in the form of academic literature and previous research findings. The research findings indicate that the National Education Standards serves as a normative framework that provides boundaries, direction, and quality assurance for national education. Meanwhile, the Independent Curriculum serves as an implementation instrument that offers flexibility, learning differentiation, and pedagogical freedom for educational units and teachers. Conversely, the Love Curriculum presents an affective approach that fosters empathy, noble character, and humanistic pedagogical relationships. The Eco-Theology approach adds a spiritual-ecological dimension to Islamic Religious Education learning, so that students not only understand religious teachings but also internalize responsibility for environmental sustainability. The integration of these four components enables the realization of a comprehensive Islamic education model: promoting academic achievement, building character based on love and humanitarian values, while simultaneously fostering ecological awareness. Several previous studies on schools and madrasahs indicate that the success of policy implementation is greatly influenced by teacher competence, institutional support, and community involvement. Therefore, this research confirms that the future of Islamic Religious Education in Indonesia needs to be directed toward an integrative model that combines formal regulations, curriculum flexibility, values of compassion, and ecological ethics as the foundation for holistic educational development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of pesantren haul traditions on the income growth of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with a case focus on Pesantren Gentur in Cianjur Regency, Indonesia. The haul tradition is viewed not only as a religious activity but also as a socio-economic phenomenon that has a significant impact on the surrounding community. A quantitative approach with an explanatory design was employed. Primary data were collected through surveys and interviews with 111 MSME actors around Pesantren Gentur and analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software. The results reveal that the pesantren haul tradition has a positive and significant effect on MSME income growth, with a path coefficient of β = 0.843, T-statistic = 27.710, and p < 0.001. The structural model explains 71% of the variance in MSME income growth with a substantial effect size (f² = 2.451) and strong predictive relevance (Q² = 0.593). These findings confirm that pesantren haul functions not only as a spiritual event but also as a local economic driver. The implications suggest that better management of haul traditions is essential to optimize economic benefits for MSMEs without diminishing their religious values. Local governments and pesantren managers are expected to synergize in supporting infrastructure, event governance, and MSME empowerment. Future studies are recommended to expand the scope to pesantren in other regions and to integrate variables such as MSME digitalization to enrich the analysis of religious tradition-based economic development.

Abstract

The rapid integration of digital technology in vocational education presents both opportunities and challenges in shaping students’ character and professional ethics. This study aims to examine the role of digital spiritual literacy in fostering professional morality among vocational students in the Mineral Chemical Engineering program at the Morowali Metal Industry Polytechnic, particularly within the Religious Education and Ethics course. A quantitative approach with a correlational survey design was employed. Data were collected from 87 students using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results reveal that digital spiritual literacy has a positive and significant effect on students’ professional morality (β = 0.56; p < 0.001), with a moderate explanatory power (R² = 0.31). These findings indicate that integrating spiritual awareness and Islamic ethical values into digital learning practices plays a crucial role in strengthening integrity, responsibility, discipline, and ethical communication among vocational students. This study contributes to the literature on Islamic education and vocational education by highlighting digital spiritual literacy as a strategic approach to developing professional character aligned with the demands of the industrial sector.

Abstract

Strengthening religious moderation is a strategic priority in Indonesian higher education, including vocational institutions that emphasize practical and workforce-oriented learning. However, the integration of religious moderation in vocational education is often limited to normative approaches and lacks effective pedagogical implementation. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in strengthening students’ religious moderation attitudes in vocational higher education. This study employed a mixed-methods approach with a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design using a sequential explanatory strategy. The participants were 59 second-semester students from the D3 Electrical Engineering and Installation program. Quantitative data were collected using a religious moderation attitude scale and analyzed through paired-samples t-tests and ANCOVA. Qualitative data were obtained from reflective journals, semi-structured interviews, and classroom observations, and analyzed thematically. The results indicate that students who participated in PBL-based Islamic Religious Education showed a statistically significant improvement in religious moderation attitudes compared to those who received conventional lecture-based instruction. Qualitative findings reveal that collaborative project work, exposure to diverse perspectives, and structured reflection played key roles in facilitating the internalization of moderation values. These findings suggest that Project-Based Learning is an effective and contextually relevant pedagogical strategy for strengthening religious moderation in vocational higher education, with implications for curriculum design and instructional practice.
