This study is designed to improve the studentsâ reading comprehension ability through webbing strategy. It is conducted in order to find a strategy of teaching and learning that occurs, especially, in the teaching of reading skills. The strategy is selected because it is believed to be able to stimulate or activate the students to be more involved in the reading activities and to facilitate the students to comprehend the texts, especially expository texts. Thus, this study is directed to solve practical problems in the teaching and learning process. The research problem is formulated as follows: âHow is the reading comprehension ability of the fourth semester students in school. Listening is one of the skills that are badly needed for everyone including those who are studying English. It is due to the fact that they spend much of their time in school listening. Besides, research demonstrate that people spend 60% of their time listening. Yet, students have not got good result yet in the subject of Listening Comprehension. This study is conducted to answer the research problem that is âIs there any effect of applying dictogloss on studentsâ Listening Comprehension achievementâ? Thus, it is intended to obtain reliable information whether there is a significant difference in the studentsâ Listening Comprehension between the Experimental Group and the Control Group. This article describes about that.

This research's purposes were: (1) exploring the perceptions of non-English teachers in teaching English at IAIN Manado; (2) assessing the ability of non-English teachers to attain IAIN Manado student qualifications. This study uses a mixed research method based on an exploratory sequence. The research was conducted using IAIN Manado Purposive sampling technique, and the researcher determined the research object by specific criteria. The study results show: (1) They loved how a non-English professor teaches English. They say that if a non-English teacher is amiable in teaching, he often motivates students to learn English. They also value non-English-based lecturers. Students also actively follow teaching and learning activities, (2) Student evaluations also were found in pre-test and post-test data when post-test ratings were increased, with 7 (41.17%) having an average value, 5 (29.42%) with good ratings, 4 (23.0%) with poor scores, and 1 (5.89%) with very good ratings. This means a significant increase in English language learning by non-English lecturers.

The identification of barriers in the English teaching and learning is essential in providing solutions for students to learn and achieve the expected learning objectives. This article attempts to explore the barriers faced by students of IAIN Manado in learning English as well as offering solutions for lecturers, researchers, and students themselves to overcoming these obstacles. Humans are social beings who cannot live alone without others in interacting and communicating, with their first language English as a second language. By using the English language in good and right uses will make easier for someone to communicate in the classroom with a friend or lecturer who came from another tribe, and spoke in the forum with the impression of a politer. Speak properly not only emphasizes the truth in terms of grammar, but also pay attention to the communicative aspect. The language communicative is not necessarily always the standard language. Instead, use the standard language does not necessarily mean that the use language in good and true uses. Preferably, use of a variety of language that is compatible with the target and in addition follows the rules of correct language.

Reading skill as a part of receptive skills are given the first priority in language curriculum and in Islamic education. Reading skill is important because it is a medium of communication and a tool for learning. This study aims to find out the effectiveness of English reading material based on islamic value for Islamic higher education in IAIN of Manado, that support the students learning and coprehension the Islamic values through the English reading materials. This study applied a qualitative approach using a case study design where researcher conducted the in-depth exploration of the events, processes, and activities to one or more people who are bound by time and activity. The researcher used this type of research is due to the subject of this study is only one class of second semesters students, they are 21 students. The researcher was a key instrument who participated actively in the activities. In collecting data, the researcher used observation, interview, field note, and documentation. The data were analyzed concurrently with the data collection interactively through the process of data reduction, display and verification using domain analysis, taxonomic, conventional, and cultural theme analysis. The researcher found that with apply Islamic value in reading texts materials, beside students more easily understand it, texts Islamic value can also improve the character of students as Muslim students.

The spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia forces teachers and students to conduct the online learning-teaching process independently. Online learning is carried out to protect teachers-students and reduce the number of people affected by the virus. Thus, this present study aims to discuss how independent learning in online English class put into practice at school, discover students’ perceptions of independent learning in online English classes and its challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. This present study relays on mixed methods research design. Qualitative and Quantitative data were collected through a survey using a google form. Qualitative data were analyzed by coding, classifying, explaining, and concluding. Meanwhile, quantitative data were analyzed using the Likert scale method through SPSS ver. 23. The results show that in the learning-teaching process during the covid-19 pandemic, students learn independently using learning-teaching materials provided by English teachers. Besides, students use media such as YouTube to help them understand the material given by teachers. Students claim that independent online English learning is ineffective since students find difficulties in understanding materials. Although students use technology to support the learning-teaching process, it does not work well since the internet connection is unstable and internet quotas are limited. Therefore, teachers should manage independent online learning properly to enable students to achieve the goal of the learning-teaching process. Teachers should organize and control the learning-teaching process according to current needs; planning, implementation, and assessment.

AbstractThis study aims to improve the speaking skills through pictures at the eighth-grade students of MTs Negeri 1 Bolaang Mongondow Timur. This research is classified as a classroom action research. It was conducted in two cycles, each of which held four sessions in the first cycle and two in the second cycle. The subjects of this study were 25 students of class VIII C MTs Negeri 1 Bolaang Mongondow Timur. It used qualitative and quantitative data collecting techniques. Qualitative data obtained through observation and interviews to students and English teachers. Data was in the form of field notes and interview transcripts, while quantitative data derived from tests (pre-test and post-test) and questionnaires. Besides, this study applies several triangulation techniques, such as time triangulation, researcher triangulation, and data triangulation. The actions carried out in this study used pictures in the teaching and learning process of speaking, applying image-based activities, giving feedback to students’ performances, accustoming students to open dictionaries, giving handouts as daily material, and giving gifts to some active students. The results showed that the pictures application in the teaching and learning process of speaking is believed to be effective for improving students’ speaking skills. Also it showed that improvements in the teaching and learning process affected the improvement of students’ speaking skills. Students’ speaking skills are measured quantitatively. The results revealed that the average score of students’ speaking performance increased from 51.5 in the pre-test to 71.2 in the post-test. The gained score of students’ speaking skills is 19.7. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pemahaman mahasiswa Ekonomi Syariah terhadap konsep Islamic Entrepreneurship. Fokus penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Islam di IAIN Manado. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi, dan kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa memiliki pengetahuan dasar yang baik tentang prinsip-prinsip kewirausahaan Islami, seperti kejujuran, keadilan, dan tanggung jawab sosial. Namun, implementasi praktis dari konsep-konsep ini dalam aktivitas kewirausahaan masih kurang optimal. Hambatan utama yang diidentifikasi meliputi kurangnya pengalaman praktis, keterbatasan akses terhadap modal, dan minimnya pelatihan kewirausahaan yang berbasis syariah. Penelitian ini menyarankan perlunya peningkatan kurikulum yang lebih aplikatif dan adanya program inkubator bisnis Islami untuk mendukung pengembangan keterampilan kewirausahaan mahasiswa. Dengan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam dan dukungan praktis yang memadai, mahasiswa diharapkan dapat menjadi pengusaha yang tidak hanya sukses secara ekonomi, tetapi juga berkontribusi positif terhadap masyarakat sesuai dengan nilai-nilai Islam.
