Abstract

Abstract

Preeclampsia is a serious complication during pregnancy that poses significant health risks to both mother and fetus, potentially leading to death. Early identification of biological factors associated with preeclampsia is crucial for effective prevention. This study aims to analyze the biological factors influencing preeclampsia incidence among pregnant women. A quantitative design with a case-control approach was used, focusing on pregnant women with a history of preeclampsia in the Curug Community Health Center, Karawang Regency. The sample included 10 respondents. The results revealed a significant relationship between parity and preeclampsia incidence (p-value 0.031), BMI (p-value 0.018), diet (p-value 0.041), and history of complications (p-value 0.001). However, no significant association was found between lifestyle activities and preeclampsia (p-value 0.114). These findings suggest that factors like parity, BMI, diet, and complications history are significantly linked to preeclampsia incidence. These results provide a basis for targeted interventions in pregnant women's care. Future studies should expand the sample size and consider additional variables such as employment status, family support, and stress levels for more comprehensive insights into preeclampsia risk factors.

Abstract

Stunting is a target of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically within the second goal of eliminating hunger and all forms of malnutrition by 2030. This study aims to assess the influence of midwives, cadres, and family support on mothers' behavior in preventing stunting in toddlers in the UPT Puskesmas Jiput area. Using a quantitative analytical approach with a cross-sectional design, the study examines the relationships between these variables. The results show that the role of cadres significantly affects stunting prevention behavior in toddlers, with a p-value of 0.049. Family support also plays a crucial role, as indicated by a p-value of 0.021. Additionally, maternal motivation is significantly linked to stunting prevention behavior, with a p-value of 0.033. The study concludes that the roles of midwives, cadres, and family support significantly influence mothers' efforts to prevent stunting in toddlers. These findings highlight the importance of collaboration between healthcare workers, families, and the community in stunting prevention.

Abstract

This study aims to identify these factors in the context of health science education, particularly in the applied health sciences and maternal and child health. The study adopts a quantitative approach using a cross-sectional design. The study population includes postpartum mothers at Harapan Mulia Hospital in Bekasi (83 post-cesarean section mothers), Pondokgede District General Hospital (35 post-cesarean section mothers), and TPMB Lia Kamalia (35 normal postpartum mothers). Research instruments included structured questionnaires, observations of breastfeeding techniques, and interviews. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test, with a significance level of p <0.05. The results revealed that most mothers had good knowledge (62.9%), good nutrition (62.7%), were not at risk (73.3%), had a complete ANC history (66.7%), received good family support (60%), had good healthcare support (69.8%), adopted a healthy lifestyle (77.4%), practiced Early Breastfeeding Initiation (94.3%), and used correct breastfeeding techniques (85.7%). All these factors were significantly associated with breastfeeding success (p value < 0.05). Multivariate analysis using multiple logistic regression indicated that the dominant factors contributing to breastfeeding success were good breastfeeding technique (OR = 20.1; p = 0.004), Early Breastfeeding Initiation (EBI) (OR = 9.56; p = 0.045), and healthcare support (OR = 8.15; p = 0.001). This study underscores the need for comprehensive education and promotion of exclusive breastfeeding, emphasizing its significance in health science education. A holistic approach, including family-based interventions and strengthening maternal health literacy in the context of applied health sciences, is essential for enhancing breastfeeding success, particularly for mothers post-cesarean section. This research contributes to the improvement of maternal and child health services and the advancement of health science education in the context of midwifery services
