Abstract

Drama mempunyai sebuah struktur yang mengandung simbol­?simbol yang mempunyai makna. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan makna struktur dan simbol­?simbol teks ?Orang­?Orang Kalah? karya Hang Kafrawi. Pengungkapan makna struktur dan simbol tersebut dilakukan dengan menggunakan teori struktural­?semiotika. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya konflik ide yang terefleksikan pada konflik fisik yang disebabkan oleh sosok yang tidak diketahui. Temuan itu terungkap melalui alur, tokoh, dialog, dan petunjuk pementasan drama. Abstract: Drama has a structure containing meaningful symbols. This study aims at finding the structure and symbols? meaning of ?Orang­Orang Kalah? written by Hang Kafrawi. The revealing of the structure and symbols? meaning, in this case, is conducted by using structural­semiotics theory. The result of the analysis indicates conflict of ideas reflected in physical conflicts which are caused by an unknown figure. It is revealed through the plot, characters, dialogue, and direction of the drama performance. Key Words: structure, symbol, structural-semiotics

Abstract

This study aims to know the problem solving of economy, socio-culture, and religion in respect to matrilineal concept of Minangkabau society. The problems raised in this study are about the problem of economy, socio-culture, and religion related to matrilineal concept. The result of study proves that the “surface structure” that belongs to this story contained “deep structure” that reflects the cultural identity of the matrilineal society of Minangkabau. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data obtained through library research with the presentation of descriptive data analysis. After investigation, It can be concluded that the matrilineal kinship system in Minangkabau society affects the way the society in addressing the problems that arise, as seen in the myth of “Malin Kundang”. The myth illustrates matters as follows. 1. The economic issues that arise is solved by wandering famous tradition in Minang community. 2. After marriage, a man will stay in the family of woman (matrilocal). If the opposite happens, it becomes a disgrace to the family. 3. Punishment of Malin Kun-dang figures closely associated with the position of Minangkabau women who are considered high in society, in the tradition and values of Islam exposed by Minangkabau community.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the history and distribution of Randai, as well as making Randai’s distribution maps in Kuantansingi Regency, Riau Province. This research is qualitative-descriptive. The data are obtained through field data and library data. Through this research, it is known that the Randai of Kuantansingingi originally comes from Minangkabau and has undergone changes. The acculturation of Minangkabau culture with Malay and change of times has led to changes in stories, language, costumes, dances (joget), musical instruments, and when it is performed, even the view of people on Randai. In the process of making the Randai of Kuantansingingi’s Map in Riau Province, 49 Randai groups were inventoried in various sub-districts in Kuantansingingi Regency. All these Randai groups have been mapped onto the Map of Kuantansingingi’s Randai.

Abstract

AbstractThe folklore “Batu Belah” exists in several regions in Indonesia, even in the Archipelago. Thefolklore “Batu Belah” retold by BM Syamsuddin in his Batu Belah Batu Bertangkup (1983)originated from the Kepulauan Riau Province. As an archipelago stroy, the story exists in thecoastal culture. Therefore, the issues to be discussed in this paper are what elements of coastalculture that contained in the story BBBB. The research aims to identify and to explain theelements of coastal culture in the story. This study applies anthropological theory of literaturethat considers literature as a cultural heritage that includes the patterns of a society presentedthrough aesthetic symbols. The research method used is a qualitative method. Analysis of thedata presented descriptively. The data obtained through library research. From this research,it is known that in folklore “Batu Belah”, there are elements of the coastal culture, such as (1)the people’s livelihood of the maritime sector; (2) local wisdom respected to marine, and (3)culture that is open to the outside elements. AbstrakCerita “Batu Belah” terdapat di beberapa daerah di Indonesia, bahkan di Nusantara. Cerita “BatuBelah” yang diceritakan kembali oleh BM Syamsuddin dalam bukunyaBatu Belah Batu Bertangkup(1983) (BBBB) berasal dari Provinsi Kepulauan Riau. Sebagai cerita dari daerah kepulauan, didalam cerita tersebut terkandung budaya pesisir. Oleh karena itu, permasalahan yang hendak dibahasdi dalam tulisan ini adalah apa sajakah unsur-unsur budaya pesisir yang ada di dalam cerita BBBB.Adapun tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengidentifikasi dan menjelaskan unsur-unsur budaya pesisiryang ada di dalam cerita itu. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori antropologi sastra yang menganggapsastra sebagai warisan budaya yang memuat pola-pola kehidupan masyarakat yang disajikan melaluisimbol-simbol yang estetis. Metode penelitian yang dipergunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Analisisdata disajikan secara deskriptif. Adapun data didapat melalui studi pustaka. Dari hasil penelitiantersebut diketahui bahwa di dalam cerita rakyat “Batu Belah” terdapat unsur-unsur budaya pesisir,seperti (1) matapencaharian masyarakat dari sektor kelautan; (2) kearifan lokal yang berkenaandengan kelautan, dan (3) kebudayaan yang terbuka bagi unsur luar.
