Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of macroeconomic variables, namely BI Rate, Rupiah Exchange Rate, Inflation, and Economic Growth, on Stock Returns of State-Owned Banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The problem to be solved is the uncertainty regarding the significant influence of these variables on stock returns, which in previous studies have produced mixed results. By understanding this relationship, it is expected to provide better insight for investors and policy makers in making investment decisions and designing economic policies. The research method used is a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis, where the analysis methods include descriptive statistical analysis techniques, classical assumption tests, multiple linear analysis tests, and hypothesis tests. The results of the analysis show that simultaneously, all independent variables have a significant effect on Stock Returns, which can be proven with a probability level (F-statistic) of 0.000000, < 0.05 Probability level (F-statistic). However, partially, only Rupiah Exchange Rate, Inflation, and Economic Growth showed a significant influence, this can be proven by Rupiah Exchange Rate with a t-count value of 4.983 > 2.004 t table, then for inflation it is proven by a t-count value of 6.664 > 2.004 t-table and for economic growth it is proven by a t-count value of 2.546 > 2.004 t-table, while BI Rate has no effect, this is proven by BI Rate with a t-count value of 0.865 < 2.004 t-table. The implication of this study is the importance of considering macroeconomic factors in making investment decisions, as well as providing recommendations for further research to include micro factors and expand the scope of research objects. The contribution of this study is expected to enrich the literature on the influence of macroeconomic variables on the stock market, especially in the context of state-owned banks in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research examines the influence of financial technology (fintech) on Indonesia's financial system stability using the Error Correction Model (ECM) methodology with monthly data from 2018-2023. The variables used include the bank Z-score as a proxy for financial system stability, and independent variables consisting of e-money ownership, credit cards, ATM cards, P2P lending volume, and a COVID-19 dummy variable, along with control variables for interest rates, inflation, and exchange rates. Using Stata-14 software, data analysis was conducted through a series of tests including unit root tests, cointegration tests, classical assumption tests, and ECM estimation to analyze both short-term and long-term impacts. The research findings reveal that e-money contributes positively to long-term financial stability, while ATM cards and P2P lending demonstrate negative impacts. Interestingly, the COVID-19 pandemic showed positive effects, reflecting the effectiveness of policy responses. These findings provide crucial insights for policymakers in designing regulations that balance innovation and stability in the digital financial era.

Abstract

One indicator of an area of high economic growth is a low level of income inequality. This study aims to determine the development of income inequality that occurs in the provinces of South Sumatra, West Sumatra and North Sumatra, as well as classify and analyze the province based on economic growth and income inequality. The Data used in this study is time series and cross section data with a six-year observation period of 2018-2023 with 3 provinces in Sumatra yajni South Sumatra, West Sumatra and North Sumatra. The methods of analysis used in this study are Wiliamson index analysis, Theil Entropy index analysis, and Klassen typology analysis. With the results of the study, the average level of income inequality in 2018-2023 is in the range of 0.30 to 0.59. The highest income inequality is in the province of South Sumatra 0.59 and North Sumatra 0.45. Inequality in West Sumatra province is at 0.30 then it is categorized as moderate inequality. From Klassen's typological analysis, using the average Wiliamson index in 2018 to 2023, South Sumatra is in Quadrant II which is a fast-growing region, West Sumatra and North Sumatra are in Quadrant IV of the relatively underdeveloped region. From the results of Klassen typology analysis in 2018-2023 regencies or cities in West Sumatra province are in Quadrant II and Quadrant IV, regencies/cities in North Sumatra are in Quadrant I, quadrant II and quadrant IV. While the district / city in South Sumatra province located in Quadrant II and Quadrant IV.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the level of agglomeration of large and medium-sized industries in North Sumatra Province using the Hoover Balassa Index and to identify the factors that influence it. The data used is panel data across regions for the period 2018–2023. The index calculation results reveal varying levels of industrial concentration across regions, ranging from very strong to those without comparative advantages. Regression analysis using a fixed effect approach shows that road length has a significant effect on industrial agglomeration, while industrial value added and the Human Development Index (HDI) do not have a significant effect. These findings indicate that infrastructure development, particularly roads, plays an important role in promoting the concentration and growth of industrial zones in North Sumatra Province.

Abstract

Original Local Government (PAD) is one indicator of the independence of regional autonomy in an effort to explore potential and increase revenue sources. This study aims to analyze what factors affect Original local government (PAD). The factors analyzed are GDP Percapita, Number of Population, and Number of Tourists from 2013-2022 on the island of Sumatra. The data used in this study are Panel data with time series sequences from 2013 to 2022 and cross section data in Sumatra Province obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The results of this study show that the variable GDP, population, has a positive and significant effect on PAD on the island of Sumatra, but the number of tourists has no effect and is not significant on PAD on the island of Sumatra.

Abstract

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing the world today. This phenomenon has significantly impacted the degradation of natural resources, posing a serious threat to the agricultural and fisheries sectors, especially in developing countries. Climate change affects the structure of land and water and directly impacts the potential sectors in a region. The primary objective of this study is to quantitatively analyze the impact of climate change on resource degradation across the leading commodity sectors, namely agriculture, plantations, and fisheries in the Southern Sumatra region. This research adopts a mixed-methods approach, integrating multiple regression analysis using regional data from 2015 to 2022 with a Sharing Group Discussion (SGD) component to ensure contextual validation and deeper insights. The findings indicate that six meteorological factors (wind speed, rainfall, solar radiation, air temperature, air pressure, and humidity) significantly influenced degradation within these three crucial sectors. Ultimately, this study offers a forecasting overview of the climate impacts on specific commodity sectors, providing a crucial basis for stakeholders to formulate anticipatory policies, plan appropriate technological adaptation, and implement more effective resource management strategies to address the challenges of climate change.
