Abstract

 Background: thirst is the most common symptom burden among patients with hemodialysis. Thirst among patients with hemodialysis caused by fluid restriction lead to stress and depression, especially among patients who consume diuretics. Aim: This study aims to analyze the benefit of sucking ice cubes among patients with hemodialysis according to empirical studies in the last ten years. Method: The articles were obtained from several databases such as Scopus, ProQuest, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and the National Library of Indonesia. There were five articles reviewed by the authors. Results: According to the five articles, ice cubes effectively reduce thirst among patients with hemodialysis. Patients with hemodialysis can suck the ice cubes maximum of three to four times a day. Discussion: Sucking the ice cubes can reduce thirst because it has a cold effect which can freshen and reduce the thirst longer. Nurses can provide and educate this alternative intervention which is effective to reduce thirst among patients with hemodialysis. Sucking the ice cubes can be conducted by the patients in the hospital also in the patient's home with the family's help.

Abstract

Background: Honey known as wound healer, but the use of honey for diabetes population is lack. Scientific studies needed to provide enough evidence to justify the benefits of honey for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Aims: To identify the benefit of honey as healing diabetic foot ulcer. Methods: The author was used PICO question as the first step of this study, then the second step was searching the articles from several databases. The inclusion and exclusion criterias were using only honey as a diabetic foot treatment on human, randomized control trial study or quasy experimental study, published less than 10 years ago (2009 – 2019), available in English and provide full text. Meanwhile, for the exclusion criteria were literature review, systematic review or meta-analysis study, using honey as a treatment to animal such as rat and rabbit, combine honey with another treatment. By using PRISMA guideline, researchers were systematically review several articles from 4 databases. Results: After conducted search strategy by using Boolean search strategy, 4 articles were included. The articles used different types of honey and the population ranged from 8 to 63 peoples. According to the results, majority of study showed honey is effective as wound healer and safe Conclusion:  Honey wound dressing is an option for managing diabetic foot Recommendation: As a nurse, we can offer the honey as an effective treatment or intervention tools for targeted patients or populations

Abstract

ABSTRAK Peningkatan kadar asam urat dalam darah dapat disebabkan oleh tingginya konsumsi purin. Purin yang tinggi dalam darah tidak dapat dikeluarkan oleh ginjal akan mengkristal dan menumpuk pada persendian sehingga menimbulkan pembengkakan serta nyeri sendi. Selain itu, apabila tidak diatasi, kadar asam urat berlebih dapat menyebabkan sumbatan pada pembuluh darah yang mengarah kepada penyakit lainnya misalnya gagal ginjal. Salah satu upaya promotive dan preventif asam urat adalah dengan melakukan senam. Senam yang dilakukan selama minimal 10 menit dipercaya dapat meningkatkan kelenturan pembuluh darah. Tujuan dilakukannya kegiatan ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat di RT 02/ RW 03 Pondok Labu mengenai senam asam urat dan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya melakukan senam secara rutin untuk mencegah terjadinya asam urat. Tim Pengabdian pada Masyarakat STIKes Fatmawati bekerja sama dengan kader mengundang masyarakat RT 02/ RW 03 Pondok Labu untuk hadir di STIKes Fatmawati pada hari Sabtu, 3 Desember 2022 jam 09.00 untuk memberikan edukasi dan pelaksanaan senam asam urat sebagai upaya pencegahan asam urat. 28 orang berusia 40 sampai 70 tahun telah mengikuti edukasi dan pelaksanaan senam asam urat. Edukasi yang diberikan kepada masyarakat efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat mengenai senam asam urat. Berdasarkan hasil pre-test didapatkan 5 orang (17,85 %) memiliki tingkat pengetahuan baik, 17 orang (60,71 %) memiliki tingkat pengetahuan cukup, dan 6 orang (21,42 %) memiliki tingkat pengetahuan kurang. Sedangkan, berdasarkan hasil post test jumlah masyarakat yang memiliki pengetahuan baik meningkat menjadi 11 orang (39,28 %) dan cukup 14 orang (50%). Ditemukan 3 orang (39,28 %) tidak mengisi post-test yang diberikan. Selain tingkat pengetahuan, berdasarkan kegiatan tersebut juga dapat dilaporkan bahwa seluruh peserta yang hadir memiliki antusias untuk melaksanakan senam yang diberikan. Edukasi penting dilakukan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan seseorang. Dengan pengetahuan asam urat yang baik, seseorang diharapkan memiliki kesadaran diri untuk melaksanakan senam asam mencegah terjadinya asam urat. Senam diyakini efektif untuk mencegah dan meredakan gejala asam urat seperti nyeri. Senam sendi dapat dilakukan secara rutin minimal selama 10 menit dengan intensitas ringan sampai sedang per sesi latihan Kata Kunci: Asam Urat, Senam Asam Urat, Pencegahan Asam Urat  ABSTRACT Increased levels of uric acid in the blood can be caused by the consumption of food which contains high purines. High purines in the blood cannot be excreted by the kidneys and will crystallize and accumulate in the joints, causing swelling and pain. If this condition untreated, excess uric acid levels can cause blockages in the blood vessels that lead to other diseases such as kidney failure. The promotive and preventive action such as exercise for about 10 minutes is needed to prevent gout. According to the theory, exercise can increase the flexibility of blood vessels. The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and the awareness of the community who live in RT 02/ RW 03 Pondok Labu, South Jakarta. STIKes Fatmawati Community Service Team in collaboration with cadres invited the community of RT 02/RW 03 Pondok Labu to come to STIKes Fatmawati on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 09.00 AM to 12.30 PM. The team provide health education and conducted exercise to prevent gout. 28 people aged 40 to 70 years participated in this activity. According to the results, the level of knowledge of the community about exercise to prevent gout was increased. Researcher found that in the pre-test 5 people (17.85%) had a good level of knowledge, 17 people (60.71%) categorized to sufficient, and 6 people (21.42%) categorized to low. Meanwhile, in the post test the number of people who have good level knowledge increased to 11 people (39.28%) and only 14 people (50%) categorized to sufficuent. Besides of that, researcher found that 3 people (39.28%) did not fill the post-test form given by researcher. Based on these activities, it also reported that all participants who attended this activity were enthusiastic to do exercises given by researcher. An education is important to increase an individual’s knowledge. With a good knowledge about gout, we hope that our society can implement the exercise to prevent gout. Exercise has benefit to reduce the level of pain. Exercise should be conducted minimum 10 minutes per session. Keywords: Gout, Exercise, Gout’s Prevention
