Abstract

The edible film is a thin layer that can be used as a food coating made from natural ingredients, which functions as a barrier to mass transfer such as moisture and oxygen. In minimizing environmental problems due to synthetic plastic waste, research was carried out on the manufacture of edible films from rice washing water waste (Oryza sativa) and papaya peel pectin (Carica papaya L.) with the addition of glycerol. This study aims to determine the quality of the mechanical properties and physical properties of edible films. The mechanical test includes the tensile strength test, elongation test, and absorption test for water resistance, while the physical test includes the FTIR test. In this study, the results of the tensile strength test on the sample met SNI 7818:2014. The results of the sample elongation test have complied with SNI 7818:2014 and JIS, 1975. The lowest water absorption was obtained in the sample with the addition of 5% glycerol. The FTIR results of the samples showed that there were no new functional groups and they still had distinctive groups in their pectin and CMC structures.

Abstract

This research aims to identify landslide-prone zones using the geoelectric resistivity method in Pao Village, Tombolo Pao District, Gowa Regency. The configuration used for data collection in the field is the Wenner-Schlumberger configuration using four the number of lines. The result of research indicates that the first line average is founded in each layer which is suspected to occur in a layer of soil and igneous rock in the form of lava with 2.10 Ωm- 12.7 Ωm in resistivity value. In the second line, the average is founded wet soil, dry soil and igneous rock with 1.26 Ωm – 11.1 Ωm in resistivity value. The third line average is an established layer of soil and lava with 2.18 Ωm – 6.51 Ωm in resistivity value. The fourth line is suspected to occur layer of soil and lava with 1.59 Ωm – 8.50 Ωm in resistivity value and 1.25 m – 15.9 m in depth. It can be concluded that the first and fourth lines, based on the resistivity value, are generated to occur in a layer of soil. Igneous rocks are supported by topography, slup reaching 30o – 35o. Meanwhile, the second and third lines do not happen landslide potential because the resistivity results contain igneous rock. Still, the topography, vegetation, and slup are not the landslide-prone category.

Abstract

Fever was a condition where the body temperature was above 37,5oC. Fever was also part of the immune process that was fighting infections due to viruses, bacteria and parasites. Fever was considered very high and potentially dangerous if the temperature reaches 39oC. This research used experimental of temperature Cobra3 method. The research showed  thermophysical values of kapok leaves, red betel leaves and hibiscus flower leaves as ingredients for fever compresses. The results of kapok leaves were the average specific heat value of 45.07 (J/groC), and heat capacity value of 901.30 (J/oC). For the sample of red betel leaves, the average specific heat value were 72.50 (J/groC) and heat capacity value 1,540 (J/oC). Sample of hibiscus flower leaves were the average specific heat value 96.30 (J/groC) and the heat capacity value 1,925.3 (J/oC).

Abstract

Research on Absorbance Value Analysis on Determination of Flavonoid Levels in Red Jatropha Leaves (Jatropha Gossypifolia L.) using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer has been conducted. This study aimed to determine the absorbance of red jatropha (Jatropha Gossypifolia L.) leaves on young and old leaves and to determine the flavonoid content of red jatropha (Jatropha Gossypifolia L.) leaves on young and old leaves. The sample used in this study was 200 g of red jatropha leaf powder (Jatropha Gossypifolia L.) with the addition of 2000 ml of 70% ethanol as solvent in a ratio of 1:10. The extraction method used in this study is the MAE (Microwave Assisted Extraction) method to measure the absorbance value of the sample at a wavelength of 436 nm using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the absorbance value of red jatropha (Jatropha Gossypifolia L.) leaves on young leaves was smaller than on old leaves. Where the absorbance value in young leaves is 0.355 while the absorbance value in old leaves is 0.616. The resulting absorbance value has complied with Lambert-Beer's law (0.2 ≤ A < 0.8). The flavonoid content of red jatropha (Jatropha Gossypifolia L.) leaves in young leaves was lower than in old leaves. Where the levels of flavonoids in young leaves is 2.71% while the levels of flavonoids in old leaves is 4.90%. This shows that the greater the absorbance value, the greater the flavonoid content produced.

Abstract

Prediction method is an estimate of what will happen based on data patterns obtained from an event that has passed. One method that can be used to predict is an artificial neural network (ANN). This study aims to determine the results of monthly rainfall by looking at the results of the validation value of the Backpropagation Neural Network method. Data processing using octave software. The results obtained in the form of graph patterns of predictions and actual data. Validation based on Root Square Mean Error (RMSE) using the Backpropagation method for the Sakkoli, Paria/Majennang and Anabanua rain posts has a value of 0.150., 0.107 and 0.024

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of organic waste-based activated charcoal in filtering flue gas from incinetors. With the increasing volume of solid waste and the negative impact of harmful gas emissions, it is important to find sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. The activated charcoal used in this study is produced from agricultural waste, namely corn cobs and candlenut shells, which are abundant and can be optimally utilized. The analytical method applied includes measuring exhaust gas levels before and after filtration using activated charcoal. Measurements were made to identify the concentration of various pollutants, including carbon monoxide (CO) and sulfur dioxide (SO2), which are known as harmful gases to human health and the environment. The data obtained shows that without a filter, the concentration of CO is 0 ppm and SO2 is 473 ppm, while after using the activated carbon filter, the concentration of CO increases to 2.775 ppm and SO2 decreases to 56 ppm. For nitrogen dioxide (NO2), the concentration remains 0 ppm both before and after filtration. The results indicated that the use of activated charcoal can significantly reduce the concentration of these harmful gases, with varying degrees of efficiency depending on the type waste used as raw material. This research provides valuable insights into the utilization of organic waste as a solution in air pollution control. In addition, the results are expected to encourage the development of more efficient filtration technologies utilizing local resources. Thus, this research not only contributes to waste management, but also to overall environmental protection. Keywords: incinerator, activated charcoal, organic waste, flue gas filtration, air pollution.
