Abstract

Abstract: Orange Jessamine or Kemuning (Murraya Paniculata L. Jack) is known to be useful treat various diseases, one of which is diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to determine the antidiabetic activity of kemuning infusion on glucose-induced male white mice and find out the most effective dose.Kemuning dry leaves were extracted using a water solvent by the infusion method. The antidiabetic test was carried out using the glucose tolerance method. Test animals were divided into 5 groups, each group consisting of 5 mice. Group I (diabetes control) CMC 0.5%, group II (drug control) glibenclamide, group III (2,5% of infusion of kemuning leaves), group IV (5% infusion of kemuning leaves), and V (10% of infusion leaves). Measurement of glucose levels was carried out 4 times every 30 minutes. The obtained data were then analyzed by ANOVA with a confidence level of 95% followed by a Post Hoc test. The results showed that infusion of yellow leaves had antidiabetic activity in male white mice given a glucose load. The effective dose of infusion of yellow leaves which gives an antidiabetic effect is a concentration of 5%.Key words: kemuning leaves, infusion, antidiabetic. Abstrak: Tanaman kemuning (Murraya Paniculata L. Jack) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang dapat digunakan sebagai obat untuk mengatasi berbagai macam penyakit, salah satunya diabetes melitus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas antidiabetes infus daun kemuning terhadap mencit putih jantan yang diinduksi glukosa serta mengetahui dosis yang paling efektif.Kemuning diekstrasi menggunakan pelarut air dengan metode infus. Metode uji antidiabetes menggunakan metode toleransi glukosa. Hewan uji dibagi 5 kelompok, tiap kelompok terdiri dari 5 ekor mencit. Kelompok I (kontrol diabetes) CMC 0,5%, kelompok II (kontrol obat) glibenklamid, kelompok III (infus daun kemuning konsentrasi dosis 2,5%), kelompok IV (infus daun kemuning konsentrasi dosis 5%), dan V (infus daun kemuning konsentrasi dosis 10%). Pengukuran kadar glukosa dilakukan pada menit ke-30, ke-60, ke-90, ke-120. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan statistik ANOVA dengan taraf kepercayaan 95% dilanjutkan dengan uji Post Hoc test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa infus daun kemuning mempunyai aktivitas antidiabetes pada mencit putih jantan yang diberi beban glukosa. Dosis efektif infus daun kemuning yang memberi efek antidiabetes yaitu konsentrasi dosis 5%.Kata kunci: Daun kemuning, infus, antidiabetes.

Abstract

Balm, a pharmaceutical product that is no stranger to the community, therefore, this product is one of the most potential commodities developed into a home industry that can improve the economy of the community. relatively simple balm formulation and easy in material, is very possible to be applied in the community. This article is a form of publication of community service that has been carried out on Tuesday, February 6, 2018,at RW XXII Bibis Luhur Kel. Nusukan Kec. Banjarsari Surakarta Central Java. This community service is entitled "training of sticks from herbal and pioneering industry as a home industry" which aims to provide understanding and skill through counseling, training, and application of herbal balsam in the form of sticks, and utilization in health by empowering natural resources optimally, produce new products, besides can be made for self-use, sticks balm is a product that is very much needed by the community, so it is possible to develop its production in the scale of home industry to improve the economy of the community.

Abstract

Aging is a natural event of living things caused by extrinsic factors, one of which is ultraviolet light. Aging causes human skin to become wrinkled. In this study, the formulation of an anti-aging cream preparation of betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.) and the anti-aging activity test on the back skin of white rabbits in New Zaeland will be carried out. In previous studies, researchers used extraction using methanol as a solvent. This study aims to determine the healing of wrinkles on the back skin of rabbits due to exposure to UV-A rays. The extraction method used is the maceration method. Betel leaf extract was tested for water content and chemical content. The betel leaf extract was made into a cream formulation and then tested for the physical quality of the cream, namely organoleptic, cream type, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesion, viscosity, and stability. Primary and ocular irritation test and anti-aging activity test were perfomed on the backs of 5 rabbits with 5 treatments. The skin on the rabbit’s back was smeared with negative control cream, positive control cream, betel leaf extract cream with variations of glycerin 5% propylene glycol 15%, glycerin 10% propylene glycol 10%, glycerin 15% propylene glycol 5%. The results of the study obtained that the yield of betel leaf extract was 12.04%. For stability results on cream of betel leaf extract, it was found that all physical quality tests were stable. The results of the irritation test using the Draize method showed that the betel leaf extract cream did not irritate the skin. Anti-aging activity test showed that betel leaf extract cream with various concentrations of glycerin 10% propylene glycol 10% and glycerin 5% propylene glycol 15% was the most effective in reducing wrinkles on the rabbit’s back skin
