Abstract

Balm, a pharmaceutical product that is no stranger to the community, therefore, this product is one of the most potential commodities developed into a home industry that can improve the economy of the community. relatively simple balm formulation and easy in material, is very possible to be applied in the community. This article is a form of publication of community service that has been carried out on Tuesday, February 6, 2018,at RW XXII Bibis Luhur Kel. Nusukan Kec. Banjarsari Surakarta Central Java. This community service is entitled "training of sticks from herbal and pioneering industry as a home industry" which aims to provide understanding and skill through counseling, training, and application of herbal balsam in the form of sticks, and utilization in health by empowering natural resources optimally, produce new products, besides can be made for self-use, sticks balm is a product that is very much needed by the community, so it is possible to develop its production in the scale of home industry to improve the economy of the community.

Abstract

The over exposure sunlightis on the skin provides of damage. Skin damage caused the over exposure sunlightis can occur in the short term such as erythema or long term such as premature skin aging and even skin cancer. One way that can be done to minimize the amount of UV that penetrated into the skin is to use sunscreen. Corn cob contain the chemical compounds of phenolic, which suspected to have the protection activity toward the UV B rays. The study aims to make preparations hand body lotion that meet good physical quality of the corn cob extract  as a sunscreen. Hand made three body lotion formula with extract concentrations of corn cob 10% FI, FII FIII 15% and 20%. Testing the physical properties of the test hand body lotion include viscosity, dispersive power and pH. The effectiveness of a sunscreen is based on a determination of the value of the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) in vitro. The third formula has a good physical quality lotion that viscosity 50-1000 dPas, the scatter 5-7 cm, pH 4.5 -7. The effectiveness of sunscreen based on the value of the Sun Protection Factor (SPF), the effectiveness FIII in the category of extra protection is 7.23. SPF value FI  FII 5.13 and 5.67 so that FI and FII into the category of moderate protection

Abstract

Salah satu penyebab penyakit arterosklerosis adalah tingginya konsentrasi kolesterol dalam darah. Pemakaian jangka panjang obat -obat sintetik menimbulkan banyak efek samping. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efek penurunan trigliserid dari kapsul bahwa kombinasi rosella dan jati belanda pada hewan uji yang dibuat hipertrigliserid. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode meserasi dari daun jati belanda dan bunga rosella kemudian dibuat granul dalam 6 formula. Sediaan diuji aktivitasnya yang terbagi atas 6 kelompok yaitu kelompok kontrol hiperlipidemia, kontrol normal, kelompok sediaan tunggal ekstrak daun jati belanda, kelompok sediaan tunggal kelompok pembanding simvastatin, ekstrak bunga rosella dan kelompok kombinasi daun jati belanda dan ektrak rosella (100%:50%).Hewan hipertrigliserid diberi perlakuan sekali tiap hari sampai didapat kadar kolesterol terkendali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun jati belanda, ekstrak daun rosella dan sediaan kombinasi dalam perbandingan 100%:50% (ekstrak daun jati belanda 500 mg dan ekstrak rosella 250 mg) dapat dibuat dengan baik. Hasil uji aktivitas antihiperkolesterolmia menunjukkan bahwa sediaan kapsul kombinasi ekstrak daun jati belanda dan ekstrak bunga rosella mempunyai aktivitas meurunkan kadar trigliserida.

Abstract

Kulit buah jeruk nipis (Citrus aurantifolia, Swingle) merupakan salah satu familia Rutaceae yang mengandung minyak atsiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas minyak atsiri sari kulit buah jeruk nipis sebagai penolak nyamuk (repelan) terhadap nyamuk Aedes aegepti yang dinyatakan denga EC90 dengan pembanding autan. Minyak atsiri kulit buah jeruk nipis diperoleh dengan cara destilasi air. Minyak atsiri yang didapat dari destilasi air kemudian dibuat lotion dengan konsentrasi 10%, 20% dan 40%. Pengamatan dilakukan selama 6 jam untuk mengetahui jumlah nyamuk yang hinggap pada ketiga konsentrasi, kemudian dihitung harga EC90 dengan menggunakan analisa probit. Pada penelitian ini diperoleh nilai EC90 67,00%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pada konsentrasi 67,00% minyak atsiri dari kulit jeruk nipis sudah dapat menolak nyamuk 90% hewan uji.

Abstract

Ekstrak buah apel berpotensi mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan karena mengandung flavonoid, tannin, vitamin C, dll. Penggunaan ekstrak buah apel langsung dinilai kurang praktis, sehingga dibuat sediaan gel. Kemudian dilakukan optimasi dengan metode Simplex Lattice Design supaya bisa ditentukan formula optimum sehingga dihasilkan gel antioksidan yang stabil. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui khasiat gel optimum buah apel sebagai antioksidan. Ekstrak buah apel diperoleh dengan cara maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70 % kemudian diuapkan untuk memperoleh ekstrak kental. Sediaan gel menggunakan basis metil selulosa (M) dan gliserin (G) sehingga dibuat 3 formula, yaitu F1 (100%M), F2 (50%M:50%G), F3(100%G) dioptimasi berdasarkan sifat fisik viskositas, daya sebar, daya lekat dengan metode optimasi Simplex Lattice Design menggunakan softwere Design Expert versi 8.0.6.1. trial. Gel optimum diuji aktivitas antioksidan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH pembanding vitamin C. Formula optimum gel buah apel diperoleh proporsi metil selulosa sebesar 2,717% dan gliserin 2,283% respon sifat fisik formula optimum dari hasil prediksi dan percobaan menunjukkan ada beda signifikan sedangkan daya lekat ada beda signifikan. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan gel optimum mempunyai aktivitas antioksidan sebesar 163,25 ppm.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is one of the degenerative diseases of concern to government and society, because the incidence of sufferers is increasing from year to year. Lingzhi (Ganoderma lucidum) mushroom is a traditional medicinal plant which one of the benefits to treat diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to identify and seek the most effective dose of lingzhi mushroom extract to decrease blood glucose levels in white male rats of wistar strain. Lingzhi mushroom extracted by maceration with ethanol 96% and infuse it with aquadest. The ethanol extract was tested on each group of test animals with a dose of 1.18 mg/200 g BW; 2:36 mg/200 g BW and 4.71 mg/200 g BW. Negative control group given CMC 1% and the positive control group was given glibenclamide (90 mg/200gBB). Aqueous extract obtained was tested after the optimal dose of ethanol extract. Antidiabetic effect is obtained by measuring blood glucose levels for 2-week with intervals measure every week, then performed statistical tests with two-way analysis of variance with a level of 95% followed Dunnett test. The results showed that the lingzhi mushroom has antidiabetic activity in male rats. Ethanol 96% extract of lingzhi mushroom (1.18 mg/200 g BW) most effectively to decrease blood glucose. Water extract at a dose equivalent to 1.18 mg/200gBB have equally strong effects with ethanol extracts.

Abstract

Mahkota dewa leaf formulated in toothpaste preparation for easy it use. The physical properties of toothpaste preparations are influenced by the binder that tragacant. This study aims to determine the influence of tragacant concentration on the physical quality toothpaste Mahkota dewa leaf extract and antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans. This research is done with three toothpaste formula Mahkota dewa leaf maceration extract 70% ethanol with different concentrations of tragacant, these are 0,5% tragacant (FI), 1,0% tragacant (FII), and 1,5% tragacant (FIII). Toothpaste of Mahkota dewa leaf extract on the physical quality test (homogeneity, viscosity, dispersive power, and checks the degree of acidity) and test the antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans. Viscosity and dispersive power data were analyzed with two way anova. Data Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericid Concentration (MBC) were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis test followed by Mann-Whitney analysis. The results showed that the MIC toothpaste Mahkota dewa leaf extract against Streptococcus mutans at a concentration of 18,75% and the MBC at a concentration of 37,5%. Tragacant binder concentration difference in each formula has effect on antibacterial activity but affects the viscosity and dispersive power supply.

Abstract

Noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) has long been known as a nutritious plants. Noni has known contain ascorbic acid and β - carotene as an antioxidant function. The purpose of this research is to create a cream preparation with qualified physical properties and stability of extracts of noni as an antioxidant. The noni fruit extract was made cream in three formula with concentrations of 5%, 7,5%, and 10%. The physical properties and stability testing of the cream were viscosity, dispersive power, pH and viscosity changes. Antioxidant activity of noni fruit extract cream was tested by DPPH method. The results showed that the noni fruit extract could made cream until concentration of 10%. The noni fruit extrac creams had antioxidant activity. Formula III contained noni fruit extract was the best formula which had antioxidant activity with IC50 value of 69,61 mg/mL.

Abstract

Apple is suspected has an antioxidant. The use of apple fruit directly considered less practical, so that it made the gel preparations. This research was aimed to optimation by Simplex Lattice Design method to get the most optimum formula gel of apple fruit as antioxidant gel. The apple fruit was macerated. The apple fruit gel use carbopol 940 (C) and glycerin (G) with three formula, F1 (100%C), F2 (50%C: 50%G), dan F3 (100%G). Optimation gel was done based on viscosity, adhesion, and dispersive power by Simplex Lattice Design method with design- expert 8.0.6.1 program. The optimum gel was analyzed the antioxidant activity by DPPH method by probit analysis for calculate IC50 value and vitamin C was used as control. The study shown that optimum combination of carbopol 940 and gliserin as basis was carbopol 2.448 g and glycerin 2.552 g. The optimum gel of apple fruit had antioxidant activity (IC50 151,43 ppm). Storage time affected the viscosity of the gel which tends to decrease during the months of storage.

Abstract

Legetan leaves extract has been shown to have antioxidant activity because it contains flavonoids and polyphenols. The use of legetan leaves extract directly assessed less well, so that it made cream preparations to make it more convenient to use. This study aimed to obtain the optimum formula of cream of legetan leaves extract using additional materials stearic acid and triethanolamine by Simplex Lattice Design method. The legetan leaves extract obtained by maceration using ethanol 96% solvent was then evaporated to obtain a viscous extract. Legetan leaves extract cream were made three formulas based on the Simplex Lattice Design. Cream were tested physical properties include organoleptic test, viscosity, viscosity shift, dispersive power, pH, and antioxidant activity. Optimum formulation parameters based on physical properties, namely: viscosity, viscosity shift, dispersive power, using Design Expert software version 8.0.6.1. Optimum formula was made and the physical properties of the cream was analyzed using t-test. Antioxidant activity was tested by DPPH methode. Optimum formula cream of legetan leaves extract obtained from composition stearic acid 1,824% and triethanolamine 2,176% with the physical properties of the response of the optimum formula predictions and experimental results showed no significant difference. Cream optimum was 10% extract with antioxidant activity of 443,232 ppm after two day and 1233,3 ppm after one month.
