Abstract

Kampus Mengajar is one of the independent campus programs designed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology. In its implementation, this program provides a mandate for students to be able to carry out learning to students who focus on understanding literacy and numeracy. The main objective of the Kampus Mengajar program is to provide opportunities for students to learn and develop themselves through activities outside the lecture class, helping schools to provide optimal educational services to all students in limited and critical conditions during the pandemic. In addition, the schools that are the target locations of the Kampus Mengajar Program are schools that are still underdeveloped in the aspects of literacy and numeracy, technology adaptation, and administration, therefore students who participate in the Kampus Mengajar Program will greatly assist in the learning process in schools that are still lagging behind in these 4 aspects, one of which is SD Negeri 173320 Siborutorop where with this Kampus Mengajar program, students' literacy skills are really developing.

Abstract

Community service activities are one of the compulsory courses to train students to establish the knowledge and skills they have in a learning process according to their respective fields of study. The purpose of the mini PkM is to improve children's literacy and numeracy skills in Namo Suro Baru Village, Sibiru-Biru District, Deli Serdang Regency, by using a more contextual and applicable nature-based learning approach, encouraging children to be more active and creative in the learning process through direct experience in nature, so that they can understand and apply the concept of literacy and numeracy in their daily lives, increase children's concern for their environment, through learning that utilizes nature as a learning medium, and introduces them to the importance of biodiversity and good environmental management. So that the results of this PkM are that children show an increase in reading simple words and sentences. They also began to be able to write basic words better. Children who were initially only able to count numbers in a limited way, are now able to do simple calculations faster and more accurately. Activities carried out outdoors make children more active and enthusiastic in learning. Keywords: Numeracy, Literacy, Natural Environment.

Abstract

This research examines the impact of the Fly Swatter Game on seventh-grade students' vocabulary proficiency at SMP Parulian 2 Medan. The research employed a true experimental design, categorising students into an experimental group that participated in the Fly Swatter Game intervention and a control group that received traditional instruction. Both groups took pre-tests and post-tests to assess their vocabulary enhancement. The study's findings indicated that the experimental group demonstrated a significant enhancement in vocabulary knowledge compared to the control group. The average score of the experimental group increased from 58.26 (pre-test) to 77.33 (post-test). The t-test analysis resulted in a t-count of ( 3.144,) which was higher than at the level of significance= 0,05 (1,673) or > 3,144 > 1,673. Ha was accepted, whereas Ho was refused. demonstrating a statistically meaningful impact. The findings indicate that employing the Fly Swatter Game as a vocabulary instruction technique can improve students' engagement, motivation, and retention of new lexicon. The game-based learning methodology enables students to engage actively with vocabulary, enhancing both enjoyment and efficacy in the learning process

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the Story Mapping Technique can significantly influence the ability to write recount texts at the tenth grade of SMKS Raksana 2 Medan. The Story Mapping Technique used in this study is based on the theory proposed by Li (2007). Using purposive sampling technique, the population of this study consisted of all tenth-grade students at SMKS Raksana 2 Medan, totaling 66 students divided into five classes. The results showed a significant improvement in students' writing ability after the implementation of the Story Mapping Technique. Data analysis using the t-test revealed that the calculated t-value was 2.054, while the t-table value was 1.697 at a significance level of p < 0.05. Since the t-calculated> t-table (2.054>1.697), it was concluded that applying the Story Mapping Technique had a significant effect on students' ability to write recount texts in the tenth grade at SMKS Raksana 2 Medan. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, while the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Based on these findings, the Story Mapping Technique is proven to be effective in improving students' ability to write recount texts and can be considered an alternative method for teaching writing at the secondary school level.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji pengaruh jenis kemasan (PP, PE, dan vakum) dan suhu penyimpanan (suhu ruang dan suhu rendah) terhadap mutu salak pondoh potong (Salacca edulis Reinw). Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan dua faktor suhu dan dua kali pengulangan (duplo) pada setiap perlakuan. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif, sedangkan penentuan masa simpan menggunakan metode Extend Storage Study (ESS). Uji organoleptik dilakukan dengan uji hedonik oleh 15 panelis semi-terlatih terhadap parameter warna, rasa, aroma, dan tekstur selama penyimpanan 0–3 hari. Uji fisik meliputi pengukuran kecerahan warna (L*), kadar gula (°Brix), dan susut bobot. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi kemasan vakum dan suhu rendah paling efektif dalam mempertahankan mutu organoleptik dan fisik, serta memperpanjang masa simpan salak pondoh potong dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya.

Abstract

Memasuki era globalisasi dan informasi, bangsa Indonesia dituntut mampu bersaing dengan bangsa-bangsa lain dalam berbagai bidang kehidupan. Dalam era tersebut, penguasaan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi menjadi suatu keharusan karena dapat menentukan kemampuan suatu bangsa untuk menang dalam persaingan. Keterkaitan global antar bangsa pada masa itu, juga menempatkan bahasa asing pada posisi yang sangat strategis. Bahasa Inggris merupakan salah satu bahasa internasional yang paling umum digunakan dan sangat popular, maka dapat disebut sebagai media komunikasi global. Bahasa ini telah menjadi bahasa internasional secara alamiah seiring dengan kemajuan negara-negara Eropa dan Amerika Serikat.

Abstract

This study is a research work in the field of consecutive community interpreting, focusing on the knowledge mastery and competence of interpreters who provide services in religious contexts. The objective of the research is to analyze and discover the extent to which two interpreters, each participating in different religious activities, demonstrate knowledge mastery and how this aspect influences their interpreting competence. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method, supported by the theory of interpreting competence as the main analytical framework. Data were obtained through questionnaires and in-depth interviews conducted with both interpreters, aiming to capture their personal experiences, preparation strategies, and problem-solving approaches during interpreting tasks. The questionnaires were processed using a Likert scale to provide measurable indicators of knowledge mastery, while the interviews offered deeper insights into the interpreters’ practical challenges and decision-making processes. The findings reveal that knowledge mastery plays a crucial role in shaping interpreting competence, particularly in specialized settings such as religious activities where cultural and contextual sensitivity is essential. The study contributes to the understanding of community interpreting by emphasizing the integration of theoretical knowledge, linguistic skills, and contextual awareness. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of interpreter training programs that incorporate not only language proficiency but also domain-specific knowledge to ensure high-quality interpreting services.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the effect of using the OmeTV application on the speaking achievement of 11th-grade students at SMK Marisi Medan. Speaking is one of the most essential skills in English learning; however, many students face difficulties such as limited vocabulary, lack of fluency, poor pronunciation, and low confidence. To address these issues, OmeTV a video chat platform that connects users worldwide in real-time conversations was used as a learning medium to provide authentic and interactive speaking practice. This study employed a quantitative experimental design using the pre-test and post-test control group method. The population consisted of eleventh-grade students of SMK Marisi Medan, with a total sample of 55 students divided into an experimental group and a control group.

Abstract

Hubungan manusia dengan alam sekitarnya tidak dapat dipisahkan. Keduanya saling mempengaruhi satu dengan yang lain. Tidak hanya orang tua, anak-anak juga perlu mendapatkan pengajaran tentang bagaimana menjaga alam sekitarnya. Pengajaran yang dilakukan tidak hanya berbentuk narasi saja, akan tetap sebuah aksi nyata yang berkelanjutan untuk mengurangi krisis ekologi yang terjadi. Aksi nyata tersebut menjadi kegiatan yang diharapkan dapat membentuk karakter anak-anak. Lokasi kegiatan adalah di Gereja Pentakosta Indonesia Sidang Griya Martubung. Anak-anak yang terlibat dalam kegiatan tersebut adalah 20 orang. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan dimulai dengan storytelling mengenai wacana rakyat yang dikaitkan dengan ayat-ayat Alkitab tentang menjaga dan melestarikan lingkungan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa anak sekolah minggu sudah mengetahui tentang makna dari ayat Alkitab tentang menjaga lingkungan, memilah sampah dan membuang sampah pada tempatnya secara mandiri.
