Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on health services, including basic immunisation for under five children. The goal of this study is to identify whether parents’ perception about the importance of immunisation for their children associate with immunisation of children during the Covid-19 pandemic. From June 2022 to June 2023, an online survey was conducted to parents of children under the age of five. Purposive sample with a 5% margin of error and a 95% confidence level resulting at least 370 minimal samples were required in this study. The logistic regression method was used to examine several factors associated with children’s immunisation during the Covid-19 pandemic including demographic factors, perception about the importance of immunisation, and access related factors. During the 2020 to 2022, 10.9% of respondents did not implement immunisation, and 0.8% stated that immunisation is not necessary for their children. During the Covid-19 pandemic, parents who believe immunisation is necessary were 10 times more likely to immunise their children under the age of five (95% CI: 5.9 - 20.5). The findings of this study suggest that community education and understanding should be maintained in order to ensure the parents understand the importance of immunisation and further to increase immunisation coverage.

Abstract

Stunting is a developmental disorder in children caused by malnutrition, repeated infections, and inadequate psychosocial simulation. The incidence of stunting will have a negative impact on the development of children during adolescence in the form of suboptimal growth. Stunting is the result of long-term nutritional deficiencies and often results in retarded mental development, poor performance and reduced intellectual capacity due to the level of knowledge and awareness of parents about the importance of meeting nutritional needs of children as the main causal factor for high stunting rate in Indonesia. Such knowledge and awareness doesnot develop automatically, and must be continuously nurtured and instilled from an early age, namely during adolescence. This study aims to determine relationship between the level of knowledge on stunting and the characteristics among the students of MA Madania of Bantul. This was a Cross Sectional Study with observational approach. Among 72 study population, the study samples were selected using Random Sampling to obtain 50 respondents. The results of the study showed that most of students had a poor level of knowledge on stunting by 80.6%, while only 19.4% of respondents who had a good level of knowledge. Furthermore, the cross-tabulation result showed that there was a relationship between the independents variable and the dependent variable with p values for gender, age and Grade of 0.04, 0.03 and 0.047, respectively, which were lower than the significant value of 0.05. There is a need for health education on nutrition for adolescents in schools in order to increase their knowledge on the incidence of stunting and nutritional problems among adolescents.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease caused by genetic factors and an unhealthy lifestyle. The emotional state of a person diagnosed with DM is also very influential on treatment and self-care. To prevent chronic complications, it is necessary to control DM, one of which is self-care for DM patients. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and emotional distress on self-care behavior in DM sufferers at the Gamping 1 Health Center in Sleman. The design used in this study is analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. Samples were taken by random sampling of 30 DM patients who participated in PROLANIS activities at the Gamping 1 Health Center in Sleman. Data analysis used the Spearman test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between family support and emotional distress on self-care behavior in DM patients with a p value of 0.023 0.05 and a correlation coefficient (R = 0.413). This means that the higher the family support, the higher DM sufferers are in carrying out self-care behavior. Likewise with the emotional distress variable with a p value of 0.028 0.05 and a correlation coefficient (R = -0.191). This means that the higher the emotional distress of DM sufferers, the lower DM sufferers are in carrying out self-care behavior

Abstract

Covid-19 has resulted in fatalities and property losses not just in Indonesia but across the globe. Indonesia has the second-highest number of Covid-19 cases in Southeast Asia. The government has attempted several efforts, including vaccination. The enormous impact of vaccination in preventing illness, disability, and even death from diseases that can be prevented by immunization has been documented throughout history. The goal of COVID-19 immunization is to prevent the spread of COVID-19, lessen COVID-19-related morbidity and mortality, create community-wide herd immunity, and protect individuals against COVID-19. Achievement of booster vaccinations in the work area of PHC Playen 1 is only 41%; there is a gap of 9% from the target. This research aims to create assessment tools to identify the variables that may affect community involvement in the COVID-19 booster immunization program. Making a legitimate and trustworthy questionnaire to determine the factors that influence community participation in booster vaccinations in the working area of UPT PHC Playen 1 is the research's unique goal. This study uses a cross-sectional research design and is descriptive. The research was conducted in October 2022. Questionnaires were distributed to pre-selected respondents using the purposive random sampling method. Testing the validity and reliability of the questionnaire requires a sample of 30 people from the PHC Playen 1's working area to make up the sample. The questionnaire had five sections: the respondent's sociodemographic, their willingness, their level of knowledge, the regulation of booster vaccinations, and the community's access to booster immunization services. The data were validated and verified employing Cronbach Alpha score of 0.861 and a Pearson correlation test result showing that each statement item was valid and trustworthy by having a correlation value of higher than 0.361. Thus, this questionnaire could be employed in other related research.
