Abstract

Several previous researchers indicated that students’ mathematical representation ability is still low because most of them have perceived that mathematics is very difficult, boring, not very practical, and has many abstract theorems that are very hard to understand. Another cause is the teaching and learning process used, which is mechanistic without considering students’ needs. Learning is more known as the process of transferring knowledge to students. Let students construct their knowledge with the physical and mental reflection that is done by activity in the new knowledge. This article is a literature study. This article aims to examine the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach theoretically to improve students’ mathematics representation ability. The conclusion of this literature study is the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach can be used as an alternative to improve students’ mathematical representation ability.

Abstract

Discrete Wavelet Transform is a data transformation method that represents data in the time domain and frequency domain. This transformation appears to overcome the weakness of the Fourier transform which is only able to provide one domain information and is limited to certain windowing . The type of wavelet used is the Haar Wavelet. Identification of data periodicity using Periodogram analysis with Fisher's Test statistics. The transformed data is decomposed into two components, namely the Approximation Coefficient and the Detail Coefficient. Both components are predicted using the Box-Jenkins ARIMA method. Model selection was carried out using the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC ) and Mean Square Error (MSE) methods . The forecast obtained is then reconstructed into the time domain (inverse). The application of the ARIMA model through wavelet transformation to Makassar City Air Humidity data for the period September 2006 - December 2012 shows that forecasting on the Approximation Coefficient obtained by the ARIMA model (0,0,3) with AIC = 112.2142 and MSE = 29.673. While forecasting on Detailed Coefficients is obtained by the ARIMA model (2,1,0) with AIC = 89.2 and MSE = 15,989.

Abstract

A stock portfolio is a combination of two or more securities invested over a specific period and under certain conditions. This study analyzes the combination of stocks that can be formed into an optimal portfolio using the Markowitz method. The Markowitz method is employed to maximize returns and minimize the risks associated with a portfolio. This method uses a mathematical formulation that allows for adjustments based on risk tolerance levels and expected returns to achieve an optimal portfolio. The data used in this study comprises the monthly closing prices of stocks from five selected companies, namely ICBP, BBCA, TLKM, BBNI, and INCO, for the period from June 2019 to December 2022. The findings indicate a recommended portfolio with the lowest risk, known as the Minimum Variance Portfolio (MVP). The MVP comprises the following proportions: ICBP 36.10%, BBCA 36.28%, TLKM 17.84%, INCO 8.39%, and BBNI 1.39%. This combination of stock proportions yields an expected return of 8.58% and a portfolio risk of 21.52%.Keywords: Markowitz method, Minimum Variance Portfolio, Portfolio Optimization.

Abstract

Most nations deal with stunting to some extent, but emerging nations and those in the lower middle class, like Indonesia, have it the worst. Accordingly, the stunting epidemic remains the top priority for the Indonesian government at the present time. Because of its many potential future effects, stunting is a major worry for the government. Determining what variables may impact stunting in Indonesia is one approach to bolstering this initiative. Panel data will be used in this study due to the fact that different provinces in Indonesia exhibit different features on an annual basis. In 2020 and 2022, researchers in 34 of Indonesia's provinces used panel data regression analysis to identify the variables that impact stunting rates. Based on these findings, a model using a fixed effect estimator was determined to be the most effective. The results of the Chow and Hausman tests support this idea, respectively showing that fixed-effect models outperform common-effect models and random-effect models. Both full and partial tests show that the number of stunted children under five in Indonesia is significantly affected by the variables of poverty rate and gross regional product per capita. The panel data regression model using the poverty rate and GDP per capita provides a strong explanation for the prevalence of stunting in children less than five years old, as shown by the model's coefficient of determination of 94.29%.
