Multidisciplinary research conducted by CEST (Center for Earthquake Science and Technology) ITB states that there is the potency of a tsunami up to 20 meters on the south coast of West Java and up to 12 meters on the south coast of Blitar, East Java occurs following the 8.8 MMI megathrust earthquake. Community and stakeholder preparedness is inevitable and should be implemented immediately. The South Lebak Mitigation Group (GMLS) is a community-based initiative to do a collective and collaborative program in disaster preparedness and responses based on local wisdom patterns. The Universitas Multimedia Nusantara’s community services program (PKM) aim to increase disaster literacy towards people of Panggarangan village and its surrounding in the Panggarangan sub-district in the southernmost of Lebak Regency. According to the situation analysis, local wisdom-based communication and media deployment is rarely used. This is the reason why the PKM program is aimed at the objective of creating communication agents at the household level through Satu Rumah Satu Pendongeng (One House One Storyteller) Training of Trainers (ToT). This ToT program also aimed to ground the activity of storytelling towards children within the family to create an individual that can face disaster. The program consists of a knowledge enrichment and storytelling workshop. The knowledge enrichment teaches the basics of storytelling, and the modality to tell stories while the workshop focuses on developing supporting tools for storytelling and storytelling simulation. abstract in bahasaRiset lintas disiplin CEST (Center for Earthquake Science and Technology) ITB menyebutkan akan adanya potensi tsunami dengan ketinggian maksimal 20 meter di wilayah selatan Jawa Barat dan 12 meter di selatan Blitar, Jawa Timur yang didahului dengan gempa megathrust sebesar 8,8 MMI. Food waste management is still an unsolved problem in Indonesia, given that public awareness of this is still relatively low. The management of food waste that is not good will have an impact on the preservation of nature and the environment. Gen Z, which is hoped to be the catalyst of the change, is encouraged to understand this issue. In order to raise the awareness of Gen Z on this issue, a webinar was held by a team of lecturers together with a student organization called UMN ECO. Three perspectives are presented: an academician, a food bank organization Garda Pangan representative, and an Instagram eco influencer. A total of 633 university students coming from 16 universities joined the event. The evaluation shows that the students are mostly inspired by this event and eager to know more about food waste management.

As a country located in the Circum-Pacific Belt area, Indonesia is vulnerable to natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis. A research mentioned that there would be a potential tsunami with a maximum height of 20 meters in the south of Java Island. Community preparedness in dealing with potential disasters is essential and has a high level of urgency. UMN partnered with the South Lebak Mitigation Group (GLMS) to organize disaster literacy strengthening activities to meet the Tsunami Ready indicators, primarily the preparedness component for disseminating information. This activity emphasizes disaster communication to increase public awareness and knowledge of the importance of disaster mitigation. The target participants and locus of activity are Panggarangan Village, Panggarangan District, and Lebak Regency, residents. Activities include research on citizen disaster literacy mapping, deployment of communication product, and citizen journalism training. The results of the mapping research show that information about disasters with local content is still limited in terms of quantity and quality. To that end, each communication product was made to fit the local context of the South Lebak community. Furthermore, media literacy and citizen journalism training was held so local communities could produce and fulfil their own information needs.abstract in bahasaIndonesia sebagai negara yang berada pada area Circum-Pasific Belt rentan mengalami bencana alam gempa bumi dan tsunami.

This community service activity in the form of an entrepreneurship seminar was carried out as one of the stages in strengthening the resilience of disaster-resilient communities in the South Lebak area. Based on the needs analysis with stakeholders, it was found that there was a problem with the interest of the younger generation in becoming farmers. The agricultural sector, which is the main contributor to the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) of Lebak Regency, has low sustainability because the young generation who are the successors of agricultural land are reluctant to become farmers and choose to work in the formal and informal sectors. The purpose of this community service is to foster a positive attitude towards agribusiness and foster entrepreneurial intentions among youth. The method used is to conduct an entrepreneurship seminar. Based on the seminar entitled "Farming is Cool", the youth in Panggarangan Village, South Lebak experienced an increase in positive perceptions about a career as a farmer. Furthermore, participants also stated that the entrepreneurship seminar conducted motivated them to work in agriculture.

Indonesia's geographical position exposes it to high vulnerability to geological and hydrometeorological disasters, demanding a solid disaster risk reduction (DRR) framework. The disaster management paradigm is now shifting from a merely reactive response towards proactive resilience-building. Disaster risk education is a key element in this transition; however, many initiatives are still top-down and often neglect the vital role of community-owned spaces. This article investigates the function of educational space as critical infrastructure for disaster risk communication in Panggarangan Village, Banten, the first village in its province to achieve the ‘Tsunami Ready Community’ recognition from UNESCO-IOC. Employing a qualitative-observatory case study method, this research maps the interaction between actors, various activities, and the spaces that accommodate disaster education activities. The main findings indicate a pentahelix collaboration model significantly dominated by community actors, particularly the South Lebak Mitigation Group (GMLS). The key to their success rests on the existence of a ‘resilience hub’—namely the GMLS Command Center in the Villa Hejo Kiarapayung area—which serves as the primary location for the majority of educational activities. This research concludes that there is a strong consistency between the central role of community actors and the availability of a dedicated and easily accessible resilience hub. The success of Panggarangan suggests that the provision of community-centered spaces is a crucial—and often overlooked—factor in creating sustainable community-based disaster risk management (CBDRM). Keywords: Community-Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM), Disaster Risk Communication, Resilience Hub, Educational Space, Tsunami Preparedness.
