Abstract

ABSTRACT Aging is something that definitely happens and we can't avoid it but we can prevent it. The quality and quantity of muscle mass decreases with age. Sarcopenia is a decrease in muscle mass accompanied by a decrease in muscle strength. Muscle metabolism is influenced by many factors and signaling pathways. The level of IGF-1 plays an important role in maintaining the quality of skeletal muscle. Recent studies have shown that resistance training is essential for muscle development and increasing the efficiency of agonist and antagonist muscle groups. However, research on this topic varies greatly in terms of the frequency, intensity, duration, and type of exercise that builds IGF-1. The study was conducted using the literature method. We reviewed and compared the most recent journals discussing the relationship between sarcopenia and regular long-term physical exercise. Physical exercise with resistance training showed significant results for muscle strength and muscle mass in the elderly. High-resistance training has a major effect on increasing GH and cortisol. In conclusion, certain physical activities have a positive effect on muscle health that can be withdrawn by IGF1. Keywords: Sarcopenia; IGF-1; Resistance training

Abstract

This article aims to examine the relationship between turmeric consumption and the management of oxidative stress and its effects on TNF-α expression and cellular health, in order to provide a scientific understanding of turmeric's potential as a therapeutic agent in the prevention and treatment of various degenerative diseases through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method to examine the effect of turmeric, specifically curcumin, in managing oxidative stress and TNF-α expression related to cellular health. Data were collected through a search of scientific literature from trusted sources such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, with a focus on relevant and credible publications. The analysis was conducted descriptively and analytically to synthesize new understanding of curcumin's role as a natural agent in cell protection and recovery. The results show that curcumin in turmeric has a positive impact on cellular health by increasing the body's antioxidant activity. Curcumin is also effective in reducing inflammation-causing compounds, thereby helping to relieve inflammatory symptoms. These effects accelerate cell regeneration, strengthen connective tissue, and accelerate wound healing. Thus, curcumin has great potential as a natural agent in the prevention and treatment of various disorders related to oxidative stress and chronic inflammation.
