Abstract

This study aims to determine students' frequency, evaluation, and perceptions on the implementation of practicum in SMA Negeri in Rantauprapat City. The sample in this study were 3 teachers and students of class X MIA at SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Utara, SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Utara and SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Selatan totaling 107 people taken by random sampling. The data analysis technique used is a quantitative descriptive analysis technique, which describes and explains the data based on the field. This research is an explorative survey, namely by observing, interviewing, and exploring. The analysis results show that the average frequency of practicum implementation is 66%, which is quite often done. The laboratory conditions in the three sample schools were classified as very good (83.18%). The student interest in laboratory activities is also classified as very good (86.14%), but some schools, namely SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Utara and SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Utara, experienced problems in the time of practicum implementation (70.44%). The preparation and implementation of the practicum have been carried out very well (88.07%), with 83.90% of reports and evaluations carried out for each practicum activity. However, although it is classified as very good, the average evaluation value is only 59.60, which is quite enough.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the difficulties students face in understanding the material on cells. Specifically, 70% of the students' learning outcomes in cell material did not meet the Minimum Completeness Criteria, indicating a need for improvement in the learning process. To address this, innovative learning models were implemented. The study utilized a quasi-experimental design with a pretest and posttest control group design. The research sample was selected using purposive sampling techniques, resulting in two classes: Class XI MIPA 5 (Experimental Class) where the POGIL learning model was applied, and Class XI MIPA 6 (Control Class) where the conventional learning model was used. Data collection involved administering a test consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions. The mean scores for the control class were 37.91 and 67.63. Data analysis was conducted using the Paired Sample t-Test with SPSS Version 21 software. The results of the hypothesis testing revealed that the POGIL learning model had a significant effect on student learning outcomes in cell material for Class XI MIPA SMA N 12 Medan T.P. 2022/2023. The N-gain value for the experimental class was 0.71, falling within the high category, while the control class had an N-gain value of 0.46, categorizing it as medium. This indicates that the POGIL learning model had a greater impact on student learning outcomes in cell material for Class XI MIPA SMA N 12 Medan T.P. 2022/2023.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the content of chemical preservatives such as formalin and borax, as well as detecting bacterial contamination of Salmonella sp. on salted mackerel fish sold at Galang Market. Formalin is detected using Potassium Permanganate (KMnO4) reagent, while borax is tested using H2SO4 reagent. To detect Salmonella sp. contamination, the test method is carried out using selective Salmonella Shigella Agar (SSA) media. The results of the research showed that the salted mackerel fish sold at Galang Market contained negative borax, this was indicated by the absence of changes in flame color that occurred on the porcelain cup during testing. The formalin content test of the three salted mackerel fish showed positive results for formalin content, this was indicated by a change in color to clear in the test tube. The results of the formalin level test in the first salted mackerel fish had a level of 1.61 mg/g, the second salted mackerel fish had a level of 1.55 mg/kg and the third salted fish had a formalin level of 1.65 mg/kg, already exceeding the acceptable tolerance threshold. accepted by the adult body. Salmonella sp. bacterial contamination test. The three salted mackerel fish tested produced negative results, indicating that the salted mackerel fish at Galang Market were free from Salmonella sp contamination.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) model on students' activities and learning outcomes on human excretory system material in class VIII SMP Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan. This research uses quantitative methods with a pseudo-experimental approach. The research design used was non-equivalent control group. The study population included all VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan, consisting of 11 classes. The research sample was selected using purposive sampling technique, class VIII-6 as the experimental class and class VIII-7 as the control class. The average pre-test and post-test data of cognitive abilities in the experimental class were 33.6 and 83 and in the control class were 33.8 and 78.3. Based on hypothesis testing, for the experimental class and control class obtained tcount = 4.1308 and ttable = 2.0017, then tcount > ttable. The results of observations of student activity from meeting one to meeting three have increased, in the experimental class is 63.62% and in the control class is 58.73%, it is concluded that there is an effect of the problem-based learning (PBL) model on student activity and learning outcomes on the material of the human excretory system.
