Abstract

In this article, Teacher is a Profession who prepares human resources to meet the nation’s development in filling Independence. Teachers with all their abilities and effort to prepare learning for learners. So it is not wrong if we put a teacher as one of the keys for developments of nation develop nation in the future. Shaping personality through character of education is absolutely necessary, by following the figures who are worthy of being followed. This article took a descriptive qualitative research. This research provided an overview of the students’ character and gave the solutions in character based learning for students in Banyuasin regency, especially for Senior high school students in Puspita Air Kumbang Banyuasin regency. To get the data the researcher used observation, interviews, and documentations. The results this study explained that in Senior high school Puspita Air Kumbang Banyuasin regency, the students love their homeland very much, responsibility, dicipline, reading interest, religious, environment cares, spirit of nationalism and friendship. Therefore, teachers had an important role in character building of nation.

Abstract

Penelitian tindakan kelas dengan deskriptif kualitatif ini dilatarbelakangi oleh bahasa Inggris sebagai alat komunikasi yang sangat dibutuhkan di dunia kerja, khususnya Bahasa Inggris Maritim. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris taruna dalam berkomunikasi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret hingga November 2022, bertempat di Politeknik Angkutan Perairan Darat dan Penyeberangan Palembang pada Taruna tingkat II dan tingkat III Program Studi Ilmu Pelayaran. Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan deskriptif kualitatif dengan melakukan 14 Perlakuan. Teknik dan alat pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif untuk data berupa dokumen hasil karya siswa, daftar nilai dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diperoleh sejumlah 20 orang yang mendapat skor ˂ 70 dan 39 orang mendapat skor = 70 sehingga berdasarkan standar penilaian kampus nilai kategori B adalah 70 ke atas, maka rata-rata kemampuan Bahari Study Taruna adalah 33% untuk mendapatkan skor kategori B dengan fokus pada komunikasi SMCP (Standard Marine Communication Phrases) di atas dek, di laboratorium Bahasa Inggris Maritim dan juga di tempat lain selama 14 kali Perawatan menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan dalam kemampuan komunikasi antar taruna yang dapat dilihat dari nilai pretest dan posttest yang dapat disimpulkan nilai posttest menunjukkan bahwa 100% taruna Studi Pelayaran Politeknik Angkutan Perairan Darat dan Penyeberangan Palembang mendapatkan nilai diatas = 70.
