Abstract

The research was conducted in January - February 2022, at the Hatchery and Fish Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Riau. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of NaCl solution in cement with different concentrations on the value of fertilization and hatching of catfish eggs (Pangasianodon hypopthalmus). The experiment used a one-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with 4 treatment levels and 3 replications, namely: P1: addition of 0.9% physiological NaCl solution, P2: 0.3% NaCl solution, P3: 0.5% NaCl solution, and P4: 0.7% NaCl solution. The results showed that the use of doses of NaCl solution with different concentrations affected the motility value of spermatozoa, the degree of fertilization, the hatching of eggs and dilution. The dose treatment with a concentration of 0.5% produced the highest spermatozoa motility value, which is very good (++++) with characteristics like: big and numerous waves, dark, thick, and actively moving quickly, fertilization rate of 84.32%, hatching rate of 85.39%, and survival rate of 84.23%. The water quality parameters were 29 - 30oC, pH 6.2 - 7 and dissolved oxygen 6.5 - 7.2 mg/

Abstract

This research was carried out for 40 days from December 2021 to January 2022 at the Fish Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Riau University, Pekanbaru. This study aimed to find out the effect of immersion eggs with different doses of vitamin C on egg hatchability, growth, and survival of Asian redtail catfish larvae and to find out the best dose of vitamin C for immersion Asian redtail catfish eggs. This study used a one-factor completely randomized design with four treatments with three replications. The treatments used were P0 (control), P1 using vitamin C 50 mg/L, P2 using vitamin C 100 mg/L and P3 using vitamin C 150 mg/L. Immersion Asian redtail catfish eggs using different doses of vitamin C had a significantly different effect (P<0.05) on the degree of fertilization, hatching rate, weight growth, length growth, specific growth rate, and survival rate of Asian redtail catfish larvae. The best dose of vitamin C for immersion Asian redtail catfish eggs is a dose of 150 mg/L with of 93.18% degree of fertilization, hatching rate of 86.24% absolute weight growth of 2.25 g, absolute length growth of 6.32 cm, the specific growth rate is 10.08% and the survival rate is 91.11%. The range of water quality obtained during the research supports hatching and rearing of Asian redtail catfish larvae, the temperature range is between 26.5 C to 27 C, water pH is 5.9 to 7 and dissolved oxygen is 4.9 to 6.

Abstract

This research was conducted on September - October 2021, at Fish Hatchery and Breeding Laboratory of Fishery and Marine Faculty of Riau University. The research aim is to determine the effect of Recombinant Growth Hormone (rGH) with optimal doses based on different age and immersion duration on growth and survival rate of Bonylip Barb larvae. The method used was Completely Randomized Design Factorial with 2 factors. The first factor was larvae age with 3 levels, namely 5 days (U5), 7 days (U7) and 9 days (U9). The second factor is . the immersion time with 4 levels, namely 0 minutes (P0), 10 minutes (P10), 20 minutes (P20) and 30 minutes (P30). Larvae was kept for 40 days in an aquarium with a density of 2 fish/L. From the result of research showed that recombinant growth hormone (rGH) with different larvae age and immersion time affected the growth of Bonylip Barb absolute weight and length, specific growth rate, and also survival rate of larvae. The treatment of 9 days of larvae age (U5P30) showed the highest growth, namely absolute weight and 60 minutes immersion time showed the highest growth, namely absolute weight 1,08 g, absolute length 4,48 cm, specific growth rate of 16,10/day, and survival rate 94,43%. The parameter of water quality during the research was 26,5-27,8°C, pH 5,0-6,5, and dissolved oxygen 4,0-5,3 mg/L.

This experimental research used a completely randomized design with a factorial pattern (CRD) with 1 factor, 4 levels of treatment, and 3 replications. The treatment levels covered P0: No washing (Control), P1: 12 g of powdered milk + 1 g of NaCl/L of water, P2: 14 g of powdered milk + 1 g of NaCl/L of water, P3: 16 g of powdered milk + 1 g of NaCl/L of water and Washing is done for 20 minutes. The washing was performed on 1 gram of eggs or with a density of ± 570 eggs in each treatment. The best washing solution for washing eggs contained 16 g of powdered milk + 1 g of NaCl resulting in 93.57% of eggs that do not stick together (non-adhesive) and the fertilization rate reached 83.16% with the hatching rate of 86.77% and larval survival (SR 7 days) of 90.3%.
