Abstract

This study aims to determine the outcomes of research conducted by students in the Faculty of Social Sciences between the academic years of 2018 and 2020, as well as the suitability of those results, which includes: the scientific field studied, what topics are saturated and no longer in demand, and the trend of topic distribution growing. At this study, the Deway Decimal Classification (DDC) standard was used to map out the distribution of research fields among students in the Faculty of Social Sciences. In order to develop the roadmap for each study program at the Faculty of Social Sciences, State University of Medan for the upcoming student research, this research combines quantitative and qualitative methods to determine the distribution of thesis research topics. The thesis sample data obtained from the Medan State University Repository was processed using the VosViewer program by means of the data first tabulated with the help of M.S. Excel and the Open Refine Application then analyzed descriptively qualitatively. According to the study's findings, Medan State University's Faculty of Social Sciences will have graduated 1,341 theses between 2018 and 2020 consisting of the History Education Study Program, Geography Education, Anthropology Education and Civics Education. According to data from a mapping of scientific fields based on DDC that depicts the research areas of each study program in the Faculty of Social Sciences, education, research, related historical topics, geography education, national and ethnic groups, and citizenship and related topics are the ones that students are most interested in researching.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hasil Penelitian mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Negeri Medan tahun 2017-2021, dan kesesuaiannya yang meliputi: 1) bidang Ilmu yang di teliti, 2) Kata Kunci-Subjek yang menjadi trend penelitian, 3) Topik yang diteliti. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pemetaan informasi sebaran bidang ilmu penelitian yang dilakukan mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi berdasarkan standar Deway Decimal Classification (DDC). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kombinasi kuantitatif dan kualitatif dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui sebaran topik penelitian skripsi mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi yang akan menjadi dasar untuk pengembangan roadmap dari setiap Program Studi pada Fakultas Ekonomi untuk penelitian mahasiswa berikutnya. Data yang diperoleh berasal dari Digital Repository Perpustakaan Universitas Negeri Medan berupa tabulasi data, ringkasan hasil penelitian dari skripsi tersebut. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa jumlah skripsi mahasiswa Fakultas Ekonomi lulusan tahun 2017-2021 sebanyak 2.638 judul. Pemetaan bidang ilmu berdasarkan DDC menunjukkan topik penelitian dari setiap Program Studi yang ada di Fakultas Ekonomi, topik penelitian yang diambil hanya 10 topik yang paling banyak di bahas dari setiap program studi yang ada. Dari data yang di dapat disimpulkan bahwa untuk topik yang paling banyak diminati oleh mahasiswa dalam melakukan penelitian adalah Accounting; Management, Economics-Study and Teaching; Business (Education), Entrepreneurship, Management and Auxilary Service, And Office Service.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the results of the theses by students at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences from 2018-2020, and their suitability which includes:  the field of science that is being examined, boring topics that are no longer in demand, and Trends in the distribution of topics growing based on the Dewey Decimal Classification standard. This is a quantitative and qualitative research carried out to determine the distribution of thesis topics as the basis for developing the roadmap of each study program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Data were collected from the repository and tabulated data tabulations of the summary of results. The results indicate that the number of undergraduate thesis at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences from 2018 to 2020 is 2.416 titles.  The mapping of fields of science based on Dewey Decimal Classification showed the topics of each study program. Based on the data, the in-demand topics for each study program are Chemical equilibrium; Miscellaneous topics in physical chemistry; Prescription Filling; Education, Research, Related Topics; Physical Chemistry; Kinematics; Descriptive statistics, multivariate analysis; analysis of variance and covariance and Mathematical models (mathematical simulation).
